    Glad you're ok jakes-mum.

Good news at last for March, my son passed his esa medical so we wont be falling off the debt busting wagon and will be able to keep a roof over our heads. I'm still in shock as I thought we'd have a fight on our hands (thank goodness for the mental health element being introduced) can't wait for the confirmation letter though, it's difficult to believe without it being in black and white.

    Tiny update

  • Hi All,

Thanks for all the well wishes when i announced a couple of weeks ago that my hubby had been laid off work,

Well we have been to the job centre and been told that as i work we aren't entitled to anything and that i should cut my hours down and then he can recieve JSA, This country is a joke, he has never signed on in his life and they are discouraging me from working!!

Anyway as he is self employed he has managed to pick up a few days work this week which may fingers crossed lead to some more or else we're going to be up s*** creek! LOL

Jemma, please may i change my total to be paid as i don't think we are going to manage the whole lot now :(

so could you please change it from debt of £11,241 to £8241, Will have to tackle the overdraft next year i think, buy hey ho, who knows whats around the corner :)

    My sister just called me!

I applied to have our council tax band reassessed and we have been reclassified from a b to an a!!!

My sister lives in the house so she got the letter, she rents it from me and I bought it from my sister! Therefore ALL THREE of us can get a council refund of the overpaid council tax.....I think the expression is GET IN!!!!!!!

    :( Trying hard...failing miserably :(

Surely this is not right! Entitlement to JSA is on an individual basis - dependant on your NI contributions and it shouldn't matter if you work or how many hours you work.

I was claiming JSA last year, and my husband had a full time job - they never asked any questions regarding him.

  • Wow it's quiet on here! Not sure about benefits for self-employed, or married, but I should be able to claim some help towards rent and CT while on SSP although I'm not married.

Well, day 2 of properly sticking to SW for me so I should soon be able to join in with the weight loss part of this thread, only 3 months into the year but a start nonetheless! I'm also doing the 'couch potato to 5k' podcasts at the gym, which should be able to get anyone running in 9 weeks. I'm going to have to invest in some decent footwear though as I've only done 2 'runs' and my right foot doesn't feel right already :( I guess while I'm shelling out for it, it does mean long term I shouldn't injure myself which is a good thing. The podcasts are excellent though for anyone to wants to try and get running!

No movement on the debt for me at the moment still... let's hope I can get back to work soon and start earning money!!

  • Kicking myself because my cheque still hasn't "cleared" and won't until at least Monday. Ah well, still a week before the solicitor needs the money but it's frustrating I want it gone, especially as he said they'll need more money for work as the maintenance company of the estate can be arsey grrrrr @ hidden costs.
