    fallenwiccan,

We had a similar scenario at our house, Can you maybe speak to a local neighbour and see what they are getting!

Well today gets stranger and stranger. Had a phone call on my work number late last night. Turns out it was the police about the accident I reported. Feeling a bit better as I could do was drive past as it was a dual carriageway with no safe stopping points. Minor injuries and whiplash for the woman. Don't feel quite so guilty

Lets see what the rest of the day brings!

We can try that once we're moved in, the place we're moving is close to my work but a good distance from where we currently live. To complicate matters further my Dad was going to try and get in touch with some old friends at BT and see if they could help out.

I would say speak to the neighbours as a must. When we moved into our current house BT assured we would get broadband. When we moved in we discovered there was no broadband. It took a year for copper to be installed! Husband is a major COD fan and this did not go down at all well!

Eek! I'm definitely a CoD (on xbox) and BF3 (on PC) fan, we have looked on uSwitch at speeds on the estate and they're not great but they are showing. My Dad keeps asking why we're getting a phone line too and I just think it's so much easier. Wish they put fibre down with new estates now, I would have jumped at it no matter the price. We don't want Sky just broadband as all our entertainment is online.

It's starting 3 months into the year but my VSP is officially underway! :j I tried it at the beginning of the year but kept dipping into it :(

My VSP is to save up for a new car but everytime I get paid I will also add money to the extra debt payment pot. I am with Payplan and I want to try and do full and finals at the end of the year when I hopefully have enough saved.

Haha that's exactly why my house deposit sat in a current account for a year because I didn't have a clue about limits I could put in it or what ever. Ah well lost out on interest but it made it very easy to transfer it to the solicitors.

Well I understand that you can put a certain amount in each year, and that you only get one. What I don't understand is how many times in a year can you transfer it? Are you allowed to transfer before the end of the year? Maybe I'll start anew with this years and try to understand it better.

The ability to transfer it usually depends on the bank's own terms. I don't think that they can stop you transferring out but some don't accept transfers in (or certainly not to their top paying products). I don't believe that the HMRC have any issues with transferring, as long as it's done correctly (i.e. definitely do not withdraw!!). I may be wrong on the latter though.

I remember being told not to withdraw but that some banks have issues if you've paid anything into it during that tax year, maybe they just don't want to deal with paperwork but if it's not transferred properly it then looks like you've paid into 2 ISAs in one year.

  • Why would you be transferring the ISA within the same year? I'd open the best deal one, then this time next year look at the next good deal and transfer the whole lot over.

ETA: Agree with fallenwiccan, it'll confuse the tax-free element if you opened more than one in a year. If you transfer correctly however, using the new account's transfer paperwork then there shouldn't be a problem.
