Ruth any news on the cat?0
-
Kat - I dont see any reason why you cant buy second hand, im pretty sure ive read on here about people getting those things off freecycle before. Bed frames go cheap on ebay though I bought DS's bed brand new off ebay, its a double with lovely memory foam mattress (its actually nicer than our bed
) and it cost me £169 if I remember correctly, we also had 2 drawers put in the side for his toys so it could have been cheaper than that.
Might also be woorth checking out a local cash converters if there is one near you as they have to test everything before they sell it on
Really feel for you Ruthy, its so heartbreaking when you feel your about to lose a petI had a rabbit when I was younger, he was such a tough old thing, chased cats round the garden :rotfl: when I was 17 I went to see him and he couldn't move his back legs, vet said he'd been traumatised, prob by a fox
He held on for a few more days bless him before my sister rang me at work and said she really thought he needed to go back to the vet. My boss was refusing to let me go as 'its just a pet', what she didnt seem to grasp was he was the only pet I ever had and I had got him for my 10th birthday. I loved that 'pet' as much as anyone else in my family
I will say after being bombarded with phonecalls from various members of my family, our head office rang my boss and told her she was letting me leave immediately
I still smile when I think of my eldest sister and I sitting at the patio doors laughing at him chasing that tom cat round the garden before it leapt the fence scared senseless, then my boy hopped back to the hutch like nothing had happened :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
Sorry to hear about the car Kat. I've found catalogues to be more expensive than the high street so if I were you I'd defo look on free cycle. If you're worried about getting a dodgy mattress then buy yourself a mattress topper from your local friendly blue &yellow Swedish furniture shop
but freecycle is defo the way forwards for moving house. I got some lovely handmade shelves from there recently for free
No debt busting today but someone's paid for a fleabay item£8.17 into the petrol fund for next week. I know it should clear remaining freemans, but I can't risk the car running out on the way o a client

Morning all!
Payday at last, so have paid £200 off credit card, not going to make a dent in my debt though as things have been added to the CC. Also, last night I planted some parsley, chives, basil and coriander leaves as part of this week's challenge.
Hugs to Ruthy xxx0 -
Kerri you are so right! There is nothing more stupid then playing the will I won't I make it game! Are you working from home or a day off!
Hiss missus we all have good and bad months at least you know that you balanced it out some way0 -
Morning all,
Quick update because just got my statement from one of my credit cards and my spreadsheet has as usually overcalualated interest.
Better over then under eh?
No 149. Quick update amount paid now £5112.11 total amount paid off is 35.85%
Big push next week and see if I can get to the 36% mark. Should be easy but with 5 days till payday getting paranoid!0 -
Morning everyone.
First of all, just had a quick catch up and Ruthy I do hope your cat is ok, as others have said 19 is an amazing age - hugs to you and your family.
Also, thankyou to all who posted nice messages after our car accident the other week - sorry I havent been online to say thanks earlier just had soooo much to sort.
The update is that the car is a write off which means we dont have enough money to buy a new oneMy BF's Dad has offered to put the rest of the money to the money from the insurance but I really didn't want to get into more debt.....
The second thing is (worse timing ever!) we are moving into our lovely new house on 1st March - but it has litearlly nothing so we need a fridge, washer and bed before we move in.
I can get the fridge and washer from my catalogue on 0% for 12 months, but am also looking at getting them 2nd hand? What are people's thoughts on this???
Anyway, the long and short of it is it feels almost inevitable that the debt totals are going to go upand the debt payments down
Any ideas or advice on how to do any of the above very much appreciated?:o
Enough about me though......well done to all of the debt busters :T:T and hugs to those that need them.
Kat xx
As others have said, secondhand doesn't mean rubbish. Also, my local freecycle always offer beds, sofas, fridges etc etc! Well worth a lookEven if it's just to tide you over til you can save money for new ones!

Hi Kat
sorry to hear about your car
you could get a refurb washer/fridge from an electrical shop or charity BHF have stores but I dont know if they are for people on benefits only? do a search online for furniture charities and ring around some electrical repair shops - the ones that have family names are often good they will have a warranty on them then - freecycle items wont. try freeads for a bed frame I would buy a new matress though.

BHF are quite expensive though, I was shocked by the prices of stuff in my local furniture one! eBay is good for new mattresses, I got a silent night kingsize one brand new for £135.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16
