All my friends have little kids in bed & all my family are down south. He's not in pain & TBH I think I'd rather he went peacefully in familiar surroundings rather that be put down. I just feel like I'm waiting for the inevitable & I feel so alone.

    Thanks for posting x

I'm happy to stay here if you need to talk... The only thing I'd say is that if it doesn't happen quickly you might need to take him to a vet in case it's something that can be helped to make better. Trust your instinct and do what you think is right. I'm sure a good friend won't mind you calling if you need someone to be with you.

Know that feeling, we have a poorly lizard who we are force feeding.

The vet could be very expensive the last time it was near on £1,000 and the poor thing had to put down. Very lethargic animal. We only went through this last month with her daughter who was egg bound!

    Oh the joys of animals

Oh no Ruthy :( I hope he is OK. Always had cats and I can totally sympathise with how you must be feeling. Hope you've managed to find an out of hours vet, it might be something they could easily put right.

I've never used this service before but I wonder if vetf0ne would be able to advise you or at least put your mind at rest until morning as I know out of hours vets can be expensive?

They have a 24hour advice lne which it says you can do a fixed fee call of £9.50 to talk to a trained veterinary nurse. Just a thought

Good luck and hugs to you and puss cat x

EDIT: Just found this on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons website regarding fees for out of hours service which is useful to know:

    "Fees

    16. The cost of providing professional attention outside 'routine hours' is high and the RCVS accepts that clients may be required to pay a premium for emergency veterinary attention out of hours.

    17. A veterinary surgeon or a lay member of staff accepting telephone calls must not refuse veterinary attention because the caller is unable to make immediate payment for the treatment. Arrangements for payment should be discussed at an early stage, but immediate first aid and pain relief should not be delayed while financial arrangements are agreed.

    18. The RCVS is aware that it may be appropriate to advise euthanasia to relieve suffering, if the owner is unable to afford the fees and is ineligible for charitable treatment.

    19. The RCVS has no power to set the fees that a practice charges."

Oh Ruthy I feel for you :-( 19 is an awesome age for a cat, what happy years he must have had with you to live for so long. Check with the out of hours vet, but if I were you I'd put him on my lap and keep him comfortable. At least he has been well loved, that's all an animal really wants love and dinner. Thinking of you xx

paid a bit so far this month towards the debt! £45 to the 0% card for the balance transfer that went out last month, and £187.30 towards the remaining money on the card (the 7.30 was to even up the balance a bit :) )

    so : #266 = £232.30 paid yay :D

only that so far, as money is tight and last month the balances were transfered about, so that will do for the moment - waiting on ebay items to end this weekend

still catching up with the threads, so apologies if i've missed anything major :(

    Morning everyone.

First of all, just had a quick catch up and Ruthy I do hope your cat is ok, as others have said 19 is an amazing age - hugs to you and your family.

Also, thankyou to all who posted nice messages after our car accident the other week - sorry I havent been online to say thanks earlier just had soooo much to sort.

The update is that the car is a write off which means we dont have enough money to buy a new one :( My BF's Dad has offered to put the rest of the money to the money from the insurance but I really didn't want to get into more debt.....

The second thing is (worse timing ever!) we are moving into our lovely new house on 1st March - but it has litearlly nothing so we need a fridge, washer and bed before we move in.

I can get the fridge and washer from my catalogue on 0% for 12 months, but am also looking at getting them 2nd hand? What are people's thoughts on this???

Anyway, the long and short of it is it feels almost inevitable that the debt totals are going to go up :( and the debt payments down :o

Any ideas or advice on how to do any of the above very much appreciated? :o:o

Enough about me though......well done to all of the debt busters :T:T and hugs to those that need them.

    Kat xx
