What's going on about the stalking?!
Anyhow, with reference to the having a life bit this year. I am certainly doing that. Whilst the debt might not be gone till Jan next year. I am planning trips to Brighton, Germany (free accom!) and Florida (which as some of you know is free anyway!) and not forgetting my sisters hen weekend in a few weeks.
I am in a lucky position whereas I don't pay many bills so I **SHOULD** still be able to do it this year!
:TIn debt no more!0 -
I'm being really sneaky on here at the moment as I'm in a meeting in my bosses office and trying to hide what I'm doing!
I am sooooooo annoyed by the stalking that I'm thinking of putting a spreadsheet online using Googledocs that only our members can access using a password and only put the monthly totals on the first page to encourage us and newbies... What do people think?
I can't stand to see anyone else drop off from the thread just because some horrid people are making their lives a misery by stalking them on here!!!!! I really need to help these guys as they have been working so hard over the last few months and have been so enthusiastic and I hate the thought of all that destroyed because of some stupid people targetting them!

Sounds like a good idea Jemma!
It's crazy, would be more understandable if we were diddling people out of money but we are paying back what we owe...
Some people need to get a life if they are so interested in what others are up to! xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
Hey guys, thanks for all the concern. I was a bit freaked out yesterday because I didn't know who it was that was checking up on me, I was just warned second hand. I think I've worked it out now, and that person just needs to get her own life rather than being so obsessed with mine! I will take a short break, and then return to keep updated with debt totals - said crazy person already knows how much debt I have and I'm not ashamed to be paying it off. Might steer clear of some of the more personal stuff tho.
I have been reading in the mean time, and I agree with the general consensus that life is for living. As part of the challenge we are all trying to be debt free (or as close as possible) by the end of the year, so as long as your plans aren't going to stop that (and it is stuff you actually want to so) then go for it.:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. Boss has now finally gone so can post properly. I am absolutely disgusted that people are stalking some of my team on here causing them to withdraw from the general banter and totals posting on the thread. I am so angry!!!!!
If it means that the list is kept private with only access for our members and people either update their own totals on this new online spreadsheet or PM me to update for them then so be it. I could then produce a weekly snapshot of how the team is doing at their debt busting to keep people motivated.
This would mean that people could still post on the thread that they've paid off another £250 today or that they've reached that 30% target they wanted but there wouldn't be any individual totals on the actually thread if they didn't want to post them. Then we could still have the general banter.
It seems a real shame to do this though as I think seeing all the individual totals on the front really encourages people to join and feel that they can do it too! That no amount is too small or too big to attack! Maybe keep the numbers and amounts but the actual names off the list?
All views welcome on this subject xxxNew Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Is it bad that I don't look at the front page but I do love seeing when people hit milestones? I find that more encouraging especially when Jemma tells us our collective paid off each month. I think it's because we all have different numbers, so I can't really compare against anyone else. But I love it when someone says "ooh I just paid a quid to xyz because I had it leftover from the shopping budget" etc
Keep going everyone, and to those stalkers get a life we're making ours better

Kerri I'm the same the only thing I use it for is to recheck my my number and the total paid to make sure I don't do something stupid like double report if I don't get chance to get on.
I can't believe like Jemma said that someone is so bored in their life that they feel the need to prey on other people. Does this person not having anything better to do with their life.
Antonio having been on the receiving end of it though more face to face I'd be tempted to report them to the police. I presume this is a friend of a friend. Personally I'd find out what has been said and then get a wooden spoon with a bow in case they have been causing problems and present it in a really public place. Sounds cruel but I've had enough of people like this in my own life and personally I just cut them out and let them destroy their own lives.
Think you a hit nerve on this subject.0 -
Maybe people could let you know whether they wanted their totals shown on the front of the thread or not. Some of us have it as part of our signature anyway. Maybe those who wanted it kept more private could either just ask you to post an amount paid or just % paid. Must admit, I don't think I've ever looked at the list to see how people are doing and probably would forget to post it on a google doc, I forget to update my own spending spreadsheet as it is:p0

problem with an online locked spreadsheet is that there is no way to stop said stalkers registering with the site under a new name, joining this thread and gaining access anyway
I think Antonia is right in keeping her personal stuff to a minimum till said stalker gets bored, gets her own life or moves on to someone else
such a shame though as I think personal stories help with seeing why we spent the banks money in the first place, and no-one should feel they have to or that they cant post what they wish on the thread without someone else using it against them.
