Thanks for all your replies - very helpful :)

It is funny how thought processes change isn't it? A few months ago I wouldnt even be asking whether I should get it on credit - I would have just done it! :o I have starting looking around on Gumtree...but I have to admit I am having trouble signing up for Freecycle - it seems complicated but I will go and try again now...

I am resigned to the fact that the debt busting is going to take a bit longer because of the car/house but I am quite determined not to get myself into a much worse situation because of it. :)

Oh, so know how you feel KS. I'm currently sat here now debating if I should have a blow out! This has been a horrible week. My tax code has changed, just had a pants day at work. so beyond chewed! Physically and mentally drained and about to start spiralling into a very dark place. Snapping at everyone around me,

So currently in the thought process of nuts to it, I'm having a blow out! I've a budget of £25, after all I've paid off another £1000 off my debt this month and while this debt busting is great for the bank its slowly draining me!

6 months ago wouldn't have given it a second thought!

P.S. I've even dropped the budget from £50 to £25! Cripes what has this way of life done to me!
  • I've been on half term and not checked in for a little bit. Going to do finances check tomorrow and see if I'm going to have anything left when payday hits... as I've been away I've spent a bit on petrol, so not hoping for too much. I'll hopefully have a bit more in paypal from last weeks ebaying too.

Anyway, hope everyone's ok, will attempt to read through all the posts

    xxx

Must be something in the air tonight.... I'm feel very pathetic, and bought toffee popcorn, choc hobnobs and a bar of crunch chocolate for my dinner.... a waste of money and very unhealthy to boot! Just feel like getting drunk and wallowing this evening but am resisting so far. Am going to bake my friend a cake to take round tomorrow as her hubby is cooking dinner and we are going out for a few drinks.

Hi I was very brave today and cut up 2 of my credit card 1 I have paid off now - but their customer loyalty dept [STRIKE]talked[/STRIKE] bored me out of closing it, will try again - although I could take advantage of the 6% balance transfer (insert confused smiley) the other card is my mint card I will be paying off on 12th March. 10 days til payday :)

Don't you just love it when your employer misses off part of your wage, then when you do get it (4 weeks later) its been taxed to high heaven GRRRRRRRRR
    In debt no more!
  • Yep definately something in the air today. I went clothes shopping & spent £80!!! I got 2 pairs of jeans, 4 tops, scarf, some jewellery so did well. I usually get clothes from charity shops as we have been on a DMP for 6 years, but now I have had enough!!! No holiday again this year (7 years since we last went and I really really need one!!) But have been feeling so down and pi**ed off about everything since before xmas so I do feel better now but will regret it I am sure.

Does anyone else find it really hard to buy full price items even though they are essential eg shoes, sock, undies, etc or is it just me? Or is it because been debt busting for so long that can't buy anything even if the money is there?

Anything that costs more than a quid is expensive to me! I HATE spending money on stuff like that.... my boyfriend buys me more clothes than I buy myself. Or I buy it and feel guiltyfor days.

 Me, I do! Was taken shopping by my mother after christmas for clothes as I hadnt had any in about 3 years, and even though it was money i'd been given I still couldnt bear to pay full price :rotfl:. Havent had new shoes in 4 years and only bought last pair because there were so many holes in their predecessors DH was calling me a hobo :rotfl:. Oh and again they were £20 in the sale :rotfl:. I own a grand total of 3 pairs of shoes, 1 pair are my 4 year old trainers, 1 pair are the shoes I had to buy to go to my best friends wedding as she banned my trainers  which thinking about it was 3 years ago  and the 3rd pair I won on a competition last year :rotfl:

EDIT: oh and I have a confession :o Im still wearing knickers that are 2 sizes too big from when I was a much larger lady because I cant justify throwing away perfectly good, mostly unholey knickers just because they dont fit :o

  • My oh My what a wonderful day, well almost, had a terrible day in work non stop all day and no break, so tired doesn't cover it. But got home to gooooooood news, loan approved at credit union, some come the end of next week, no more PDL's ever. Will be able to pay the last one off, will be tight, but none ever again, and will have a rediculous amount of money over every month to pay off debts, in total was paying about £400 just to role them over, but have paid off 2 myself and now with the help of my local CU, the last will be gone by the 28th, happy just can't contain myself:j:j, yehhhhhhhhh
    Sealed pot (who knows?)

All debts paid in 2013 :T, apart from overdraft :(, now to tackle that:)
