awww thanks for the encouragement :) mostly my savings have been from drastically cutting down on grocey spends, making lunches, going through every bill and getting the best quote/price for everything, cutting down on going out and just saving every penny really. I started well before xmas and saved and set a budget and managed not to go over budget so it has all helped. I think that the next thing will be to try e-bay and/or gumtree but am working myself up to spending the time listing things as I work full time and long hours and am trying to fit in gym, horses and studying and managing the shopping, bills and budgetting and organising lunches and tea!! lol there I go off again!!!

Sounds like you're doing a sterling job already! What are you studying, if you don't mind me asking? xxx

Talking of banter... my OH is now sulking because I decided I was going to watch a 2nd episode of Secret Diary of a C@ll Girl (they're 15mins long!) should I wake him up or leave him to sulk?

How can he be sulking if he's asleep?!

  • lol its all ideas and help ive read on this site - dont know where I would be now had I not started reading back in July. I no longer have the sense of impending doom that my wages are non-existant even before I've been paid and it certainly has helped with taking on the hubby - we married last march but only started living together in august (that was a shock to the system lol!) I have to do ongoing CPD with my qualification (pharmacist) and as I started my new job in august Ive had to do company training also .. I'm looking to do a postgrad diploma too at some point this year if I can get the money situation under control :)

Its great Welshy isn't being on top stuff. Well bit of an up and down day today! Did the shopping and because we had got away without a big shop for two weeks he paid! Told him I had £80 left till pay day. He looked panicked. God if he only how much some people have here, Bought something for kid and he paid half then he wanted something else and I kind of lost it! Fed up of being like a bank. Had a chat and explained if I don't do this he loses all the nice things; the house, the car, the ds, nicktoons. Strange that got a cuddle before bed!

Jemma, well done for having your sensible head on with the bank and think long term. Fingers crossed you'll get there with the phone

At the minute I'm battling do I pay of two cards which give and extra £90 a month or work really hard for 6 months and then have and extra £233.14 every month. Sticking with the two cards first!

Pedro: How is your friend any improvement?

Jake's mum: How is lilly today is she feeling any better or has she had a cartoon day. Hopefully some snow might cheer her up!

Kerri: Wake him up! Mine would wind me up saying he hasn't had it weeks when he dropped off! I say he fell asleep and he say you should of woke me up! Do that and he still doesn't want to know!

    Off load - downloaded! Phew

On the plus side just let the jack russell out 10 minutes and nearly cried watching him bounce like a rabbit as the cold was a touch close to the under carriage!
  • This is my second post as the gremlins gotta hold of my last Nobel-prize winning entry so you have been spared some of my navel gazing rhetoric!
It has been a better week; the warmth in my house since the installation of the new boiler has started a thaw in my icy mood. I am trying not to do so many overtime shifts as I get resentful of the extra time that DH has with our children. So today I took them to a soft play/laser tag type of place about an hour away, clutching a wad of different coupons all offering money off this place. With a big family like ours these places sure can add up. Sure enough the Groupon like offer for 50% off five games of laser tag did not physically get you past the front door- you still had to pay the admission. So then i produced some coupons from their facebook site and mixed and matched the best deal i could get! Of course, despite packing apples and bananas and a bottle of water, within and hour the children stated they were DYING of hunger. I did my best but an hour later I caved and bought them a plate of cholesterol and grease washed down with something flourescent which made them even more hyper! The children nearly licked the cardboard packets for the last crumbs, then sat back, belched and began a conversaiton about how that had been the BEST meal they had ever eaten, how they would NEVER forget this meal even if they lived to be 100 yrs old, how I was the BEST mother in the whole world etc grrrr etc! OK so mebbe I have been overdoing the moneysaving meals (lentils and inseason veggies like cabbage and sprouts) but really can't they tell my meals are made with love and are nutritious?!? So a good time was had by all. I haven't had a weekend off in to long, so am relishing every minute with my lil chicks!
DH gradually getting on board wth the envelopes. He just has problems planning - especially with petrol. He will drive everywhere and then gets annoyed with himself when I get the bus or walk everywhere at the end of the week. He tells me to add more petrol, but I say we are trying to live off one tank for the week...baby steps, he will get there one day.
Try and stay warm, lovely people in the UK ! :snow_grin

    MSE 249 Canucksfan = another $750 paid off...$2100/$17418-95. 1.2lbs lost... 4.7/70lbs.

  • Looks like we are snowed in so that we can already count this as a NSD!

Hubby been out since 5.30 helping a friend with his snow ploughs as he is responsible for keeping some of nearby roads clear. Think it is a favour rather than a money making job but at least I got a lovely lie-in! He is still out and about and the kids are happily watching Tangled. Goodness knows what we will be eating today - last nights tea was a raid of the freezer and pretty sure todays will be as well.

Think I will use the day to gather some ebay things together. Is it true that you can now list 100 items at 99p or less for free or have I just dreamt that? Other tips would be useful!

Did the weekly shop at Lidl yesterday and only spent £50! Despite hubby complaining why didn't I do a shop and get it delivered - he actually quite enjoyed it.:j
