miss Information - I recently left my job as a TA3, since I graduated in 96 (with a maths degree - nice to know I'm not the only numerical geek on here
) I'm now working in an office, completely different from working a primary school. I'd only ever worked as a classroom assistant. Been at my last school 9 years when I quit. It's really hard to leave something that's familiar and comfortable, become the "new girl" and have to learn new things but if you're feeling stale, it will affect your teaching. I'm only earning about £50 more a month, work longer hours and only get 25 days holiday a year (a massive change from 13 weeks;)) but I'm soooooooo much happier
and that's what matters most to me.
Had a minor panic in Mr A's on the way home, my card was declined, apparently came up with "phone for authorization" on the till, dunno who was more embarassed, me or the young lad on the till. But there's plenty of money in my account and there's no suspicious activity on my account (shopped in same shops, used same cash machines etc.) Anyone else experienced this?0 -

They sometimes do random checks, so it could be nothing to do with your account. I used to work in a Mr S in quite a posh area and all these posh people would come in and they might get one of these random checks and they would get incredibly flustered. It used to make my dayPay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -
I've just had a peek at our figures and we've already paid off 5% of our collective debt of over £3m :T:T that's over £150,000 that's we're not paying interest on :beer:floridafairy wrote: »Thats fantastic, Theres no stopping us lot now!!:T
:T:T:T That's great news HelenPie,and I totally agree with floridafairy, there is no stopping us now, and I agree with all those who say it's because of this thread that we're paying down debts
Thanks to this thread I'm managing to address what I owe to Bank of Mum and Dad, and whilst what I've paid only stands at 240.10, that's 240.10 more than I would have paid, and that can only be a good thing.0 -
I know I have no option but to sign up as my finances over the last 4 years since my divorce have got worse and worse. Im starting to have direct debits returned just before I get paid etc. i need to sort this out for my four children and for my own sanity. I reckon if I really try hard I can get rid of my debt by Christmas.:eek:0

For the attention of Miss Information
It's very scary moving out of your comfort zone but it's more important to be happy than stay in a place that makes you miserable. Even if you move and don't get it right first time, you can move again until you find something you like doing. And the money is not as important as being happy. Mind you if you did move to something like a Head of Department job you would probably earn more?? Good luck with working out what to do!!Pay debt in 2012 #278 £2347/£5364
