Natterjack do you pay your bill quarterly or monthly? If its monthly i would ring them and tell them in the nicest possible way to go whistle for £500 in one month and negotiate a repayment plan over the next few months. Though I do have my own opinions on splitting bills 50/50 in an unmatched money relationship, as you have agreed to do this, talk to both your OH and BG and say would they accept your OH's £250 and £125 of your half this month and then the other £125 next month (which they should do, tell themyour on mat leave and so on limited income) this way you both pay your half, but your also only losing 1/4 of your salary (albiet for 2 months)
Its weird- the bill is from 9/11 to 25/1 so seems to be neither! It was estimated but I checked and our actual readings are a couple of units over their estimates. They offered a repayment plan but then I have to worry about it for months then rather than the next week. I have got the money- a small amount may need to go on CC but I get paid 2/2. It just annoys me that the bill has put 2 fingers up to my debt paying. I just see it that I've lost the opportunity to pay off 2.5% of my debt. I now have 3 layers of clothing on and look forward to doing the washing up so I can put my hands in the hot water! I have a 6 month old DS though so can't let it get too cold- he's at his Nanna's today though. I suppose we just weren't being MSE enough before!£20 a day April 2014 £834.87/£600 :j

Ah I pay my utilities bill by monthly direct debit but I still get a 3 month bill saying how much ive used, minus the payments ive made and what I still owe them. Every so often they write to me (always in the winter surprisingly) saying they are upping my DD by £15 - £20 a month as my useage is above their estimate . . . I always then ring them and tell them to bog off as I know full well that if I pay them more now, come summer they will then owe ME a nice tidy sum , the people in the accounts department never seem to be able to comprehend that your monthly payment is based on a years useage so your always going to be in arrears or credit to them depending on the time of year
I think my worst arrear was £380 and I grudgingly allowed them to upp my payment by £10 a month, come renewal time next november (hence why im always in arrears after christmas :rotfl:) oh look they owed me money :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
I'm with BG and submit meter readings monthly, which they then use to bill me... is that something you could do Natterjack? That way you can keep an eye on your usage xBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

ahhh thank you
Im happy as I even managed to snaffle back the £20 DH nicked out of the cupboard from 'his' joint account (as in the joint account his wages go in :rotfl:) he'll never even know
Also soo pleased as even after taking the money for his credit card that he used as a stop gap while his works were sorting out fuel cards, the £20 he'd nicked out the cupboard and a sneaky £50 toward the payment I made :shhh: (dont tell him) we are still only £100 into the overdraft and hes got another weeks wage to go in which will cover the incidentals that go out of that account and putt the overdraft to 0  which is the first time its been like that since we opened the account 5 - 6 years ago :eek::eek::eek: NO Mr N@twest! no more overdraft fees for you!
I should point out that te £750 from N@twests overdraft is still in my figure as im not quite confident enough to mark it as paid off as id be gutted if I had to come back in 3 months and say 'oh DH couldnt get any work so we had to use the overdraft to pay the mortgage )
I can see why you don't want to consider the OD as paid off but well done for getting it to 0 :T:T:T0 -

I've had a very MSE day moving credit card balances around to mkae sure they are 0%. Still building quite a chunk in our UK account to pay our first payment on our USA loan which is due in March so doing well with ourselves. Also noticed the $ rate has been climbing over the last day or two so may start putting some onto our $ card to make the most of it.
