I'm just 29 and always get people ask the same of me. I'm a maths geek and numbers obsessed :rotfl: even more annoying that I'm in debt then. :mad:But it does mean I have a great set of spreadsheets for this and just about everything else
:rotfl::rotfl:
What do you do Jemma? Sounds stressful
I'm a maths geek too! I've actually got a Pure Maths degree... (this is the point where most people look like this :eek:)
I'm a Business Analyst but I was/am also the accountant for our 2nd largest customer which I still support so look after £8.5million worth of the customers money (I moved to Ops last year but still do the majority of the accounts still). Oct-Feb for me is the worse time of year as we renew all our contracts for the new year so I have a LOT of analysis to do to set the new rates (1000's of them...) for the following year and what impact that will have for our company's profit. Add to this that it's Year End which lasts for 3 weeks and all my usual daily jobs to do as well then it can be very stressful. Oh and we are also looking into the cost benefits of moving from our 136,000 sqft warehouse and so I've been working out the cost implications over the next 10yrs to draw up a proposal for our customer and we are talking £10's millions... Big numbers and big problems if I get any of it wrong...
It always makes me laugh that I am very stringent with company spending but yet have had no control over mine before :rotfl:New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Ooops, just saw how I should be updating my amounts...

Huge thanks as well for taking the time and effort to do this:beer:. It is hugely appreciated as I doubt I would have paid as mcuh off as I did, if it hadn't been for threads like this.. so thank-you.:T:TDebt outstanding [STRIKE]£3491.[/STRIKE] £3303

Well I have a bit of a dilemma.
First of all I ordered a pizza tonight and along with a couple of other bits in the Spar ended up spending £24..... :mad: I haven't done that for so long and now I've eaten it I realise it was a huge waste of money, but anyway, I'm just going to have to put that behind me.
The dilemma is: In my job I have reached the limit of where I can get to. I have got an added role on top of my normal teaching, but I can't bear it and it bores me to tears. Unfortunately it pays me about £400 a month, so although I would love to drop it, financially I can't. I have started to look for other jobs, even though I don't really want to leave where I am for any other reasons than I feel the need for a new challenge. Currently I live really close to work, so spend about £30 a month on petrol. Other jobs would be possibly a 40 min drive from where I am, and it could be the same money or even a bit less than I'm on.
So, the dilemma is do I keep looking and possibly make things a bit more of a strain financially, all because my current situation is very quickly making me very unhappy?
Also, this is all a bit scary.... I've only ever worked at the one school, so I'm scared about re-establishing myself somewhere new, even though I know I'm more than capable. Do I push myself out of my comfort zone?

I think you've answered your own question really. Yes, keep looking. There is absolutely no point doing something that makes you miserable. You only have one life and to spend it doing a job you hate is just a total waste. If you don't push yourself, you'll never know what you could have achieved.....and you'll regret it when you are old.
If it takes you a little longer to pay your debts, or to save up money, then at least you're living your life and enjoying it whilst you are doing it.

Evening all.
I have had to break my Ebay ban and bid on a new pair of jeans as I have put a hole in the knee of the only pair that fits me (I have lost weight and so I only had one pair in the right size as I didnt want to buy any more yet) - am bidding at 99p so I am hoping I will get them for not much more than that. I do feel really guilty but its a need rather than the £££ I was spending on wants before.
My new total is £1427.58/£7873.87 #130 - I have paid over £1000 of my Virgin CC since 9th December which is just brilliant, and the main reason I have managed it is this thread and all the lovely people on it.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -

Thank you! There is a job I could apply for about 40 mins away but I'm not sure it's right. Also I'm wondering if I could go for Head of Department, which I think is why this is a bit scary!!
Got to do something though, as I was very wobbly before Christmas, far too much crying for my own good.Lightbulb moment Nov 2011
