• I made it to payday again!!:rotfl: Every month it seems like more of a miracle!!

Have today off work so just caught up on the last 10 pages of the thread - this week at work has been soooooooo busy, with overtime and just general manic-ness I've not have chance til today but I'm sorted now :D

Some good money news today! Had a bill from BT - I switched my line rental to SKY earlier this month (after trying in October and it not working :wall:, and they're refunding me £43.23 because my account is in credit :T Also went on SB for the first time in over a week and won 50 bucks on the search page - I'm only 6 away from an Amazon voucher now so am "watching" videos in the background ;)

Sent £475 towards my debts this morning - which means for the first time I can remember I don't have an overdraft!! :A:A:A

Quite enjoying this having money in the bank malarkey, think I could get used to it! :p

thats exactly how i felt, always skint, but now im not wasting money and paying debts, i actually have more money to last the month, strange but a good feeling.

I was the same, never budgeted for anything, had no idea how much I owed in total or any sort of plan for paying it off, always buying stuff I didn't need and then not having enough for essentials or emergencies. This year will be a big change thanks to all the ideas, comments and support here. The biggest thing for me is realising that, actually, you're not alone and there are lots of genuinely good eggs who are happy to offer (and receive) advice and support.

GROUP HUG!
Well done to everyone who's managed to pay some of their debts

:T Indeed. It's good to see the figures rolling in now :T

Afternoon all! I am sooooooooo jealous of everyone's payments

I know the feeling. I get paid on the 15th (which is great because it doesn't feel like years until January payday after Xmas), but I've had to hang onto most of my "spare" funds because of impending garage bill, MOT and road tax before next payday.

Can't wait til I get paid in Feb so I can properly get stuck in :(

ahhh thank you :D Im happy as I even managed to snaffle back the £20 DH nicked out of the cupboard from 'his' joint account (as in the joint account his wages go in :rotfl:) he'll never even know :D

Also soo pleased as even after taking the money for his credit card that he used as a stop gap while his works were sorting out fuel cards, the £20 he'd nicked out the cupboard and a sneaky £50 toward the payment I made :shhh: (dont tell him) we are still only £100 into the overdraft and hes got another weeks wage to go in which will cover the incidentals that go out of that account and putt the overdraft to 0  which is the first time its been like that since we opened the account 5 - 6 years ago :eek::eek::eek: NO Mr N@twest! no more overdraft fees for you!

I should point out that te £750 from N@twests overdraft is still in my figure as im not quite confident enough to mark it as paid off as id be gutted if I had to come back in 3 months and say 'oh DH couldnt get any work so we had to use the overdraft to pay the mortgage )

• Was really getting into paying my debt off- then we get a bill from British gas for just over £500 :eek::eek::eek:

Im absolutely gutted as I was so close to having the money to pay my store card off!- which was my target for this month after I'd paid off CC1 and CC2, was my last card with interest on! Probably won't be any difference paying it a few weeks later as the DD for it went out today but was still looking forward to my total going down! I have to pay half of it so £250- but thats half my wages! My OHs half only works out at just over a quarter of his - Not my fault I earn less (on mat leave). We are paying half each because the joint account can't afford it.

I'll work my totals out at the end of the month I think as I may have lost track a touch.

• I just got my payslip and thank god I've got my PPI. This month is bad enough, let alone next month when I get paid for my work in January (which is obviously NONE!)... I think I'd have had a breakdown if this money wasn't here...

Natterjack do you pay your bill quarterly or monthly? If its monthly i would ring them and tell them in the nicest possible way to go whistle for £500 in one month and negotiate a repayment plan over the next few months. Though I do have my own opinions on splitting bills 50/50 in an unmatched money relationship, as you have agreed to do this, talk to both your OH and BG and say would they accept your OH's £250 and £125 of your half this month and then the other £125 next month (which they should do, tell themyour on mat leave and so on limited income) this way you both pay your half, but your also only losing 1/4 of your salary (albiet for 2 months)

Ring them up and ask to pay by DD - then you will be paying the arrears back as well as paying some towards the next bill.
