I hope it does work out for you but this above rang massive alarms for me - 2 addicts living together probably won't sort out either of their problems but more likely feed and justify each other's and their own addictions. Is there nowhere else he can go whilst he gets himself together?

I agree. I can't see this going well at all. They're just going to feed off each other's misery and get progressively worse. But on the up side OP, he's out of your hair, and more importantly, away from the children.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

glad he's going OP, it will give you the chance to sort your house out into a drug free environment for your kids and your new baby. I do worry though that him moving in with another addict they will indulge together though, but its some progress nonetheless.

Well done for having the strength to have that talk with him x

    OP,
I lived with an alcoholic for 10 years. Watched as she battled depression and attempted suicide.
I decided that although I loved her I couldn't carry on trying to upkeep working life whilst having that at home.
You need to decide if you can lose love and gain calm. It's not easy but lots of family and friends will offer support. Before you know it, you will be calmer, happier, and your kids will obviously benefit from the new you.
Take some time to reflect carefully about what you want, then go get it!
I can honestly say that I am so much happier, and looking forward to what 2012 will bring. A positive attitude with lots of smiles and laughter.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Me and hubby live alongside 2 functioning alcoholics. Our lives are a misery because of them. Cant wait to find alternative accomodation. :(

I am sort of glad he ended up being addicted to cannabis and I know it could have been worse, I don't know anyone who's been attacked by someone who couldn't handle their smoke yet!

As someone with no experience of cannabis, I cannot comment on this but I do remember one lady who had a son who smoked this. It's not a 'soft' drug and affected him so badly that he lost his home, job and girlfriend. He has all sorts of strange paranoia and is incapable of holding a conversation over the phone with anyone. It has affected him in the HEAD and it is unlikely that he will ever be able to work or form relationships again.

As I say, I have no personal experience but having heard of peeps having 'episodes' for years after using it, I would not consider a few joints a week down the garden as a wise choice.

im married to a selfish alcoholic who buys scratch cards, smokes, buys his paper religiously every mornin, goes to footy each week, drinks after footy each week, pinches my bank card from my purse, pinches my money, im not usually a walkover but i am in this case, i gave up smoking weed many years ago, i cant believe hes so weak an cant kick the booze. hes just all out for himself, im slowly turning the tables round this week, as he wants to be treated like an child, then i shall treat him like one, and hide away everything, we have had 2 eviction dates due to him drinking the money, he would be fine, hes got a place with his mum if he wanted to, i have no idea where myself an the girls would go. if i start questioning him about his drink, his only reply is 'oh here we go, i thought ud start again' taking the !!!! out of me on tablets.
how do u stop blaming urself?
what do u do to make life easier?
ive asked him to go but he wont, says i should go an leave him with the girls, somethin id never do! so, if he doesnt wanna hear me go on about his habits, then i guess he knows where the door is.
