Could I be included on the list please Shaggy?

You're on the list! Lilith was my favourite character in Cheers.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Thanks Shaggy :) to be honest I have never watched Cheers, the name Lilith apparently comes from the name of a female devil lol. Not that I am a devil worshipper, I just thought the name was pretty :o

That worried me for a long time.
I wouldn't say I 'lost' friends, but I gradually lost contact with some people. They were friends, but we had toxic relationships based around getting off our heads. We're not unfriendly with each other now, but have less in common so the friendship has dwindled.

It worried me greatly that this would happen, but in reality it wasn't detrimental to my life at all (far from it).
I think it was my alcoholism playing tricks with me, telling me that I HAD to drink otherwise I wouldn't have a social life and would be lonely.
It was alcoholic fear. False Evidence Appearing Real.

    Good luck
Thanks Graeme, I must admit some of my friendships have already dwindled because of my cutting down on drink and we do still meet up but it tends to be every few months rather than every week like we used to. So maybe it wont be as bad as I think :o

Hi dadof2, my take in your wanting a drink at weekends is habit pure and simple. I'm on here as a cutter down as I enjoy a social drink but the habit had spilled over from weekends into weeknights. Most of us have spent our lives separating weekdays from weekends and looking forward to doing something different and fun at the weekend. Many of us now associate having a drink as part of that. Not drinking takes part of the the 'having something to look forward to' out of our week. I remember sparkles when she used this thread saying she had to teach herself that Saturday is really just another day. Or alternatively you can look forward to other things. It's just a habit. Personally I still enjoy my weekend drinking provided I am enjoying it and don't lose control. Sounds as if your small intake fits that bracket but if you really wanted to be teetotal like your wife then I'm sure you could. And this thread would definitely help!

I had half a bottle of ginger wine last night. I enjoyed it but got very sleepy. Amazing how tolerance drops when you've not been drinking.

Tomorrow is back at work, and I am dreading it. I used to like going to work but there is so much pressure now that it feels like it is taking over my life.

Out last night, driving and enjoyed it even without a drink. It was funny to watch my OH repeating himself when he'd had a few. People are asking why I'm not drinking and at the moment I am saying dryathalon.

Today I have loads to do, still sorting stuff out, got my OH involved as well, so we are getting rid of loads of stuff. But I have a clear head, so I am more able to cope with it all.

Has anyone used the cash for clothes shops?

    Have a lovely Sunday

Shaddy-doo- You are such sweetie. That just made me cry...I'm a good way! I'm off to a meeting in a bit so will update properly later. I'm hoping to make enough plans to fill my work free days, but not spend loads of money, although I have decided that once I hit my 30 days I'm treating myself! X

Well I'm not really missing the drink on a weekend. I don't have much of a social life, so I was drinking at the weekend through habit and boredom. I'm not taking for granted that I've broken the cycle, but think I'm 75% there to be honest. A big test will be when I go to my parents on the weekend of February 2nd as that is usually really dull, but they've got a stock of non-alcoholic drinks in, so I should be fine and it' good to see the £18.00 each weekend mounting up towards the mortgage.
