Well last night was lovely me and OH had a super meal out. I am going to put my hands up and say I did have a couple of glasses of wine then I stopped. I know I don't want to give up alcohol completely, but be able to have a social drink and no more if I can.
Shaggy , I have discussed with OH this morning and we are going to remain AF during the week but Friday or Saturday we may or may not have a drink. So can I revise my target with that in mind please? I would like to change it to be 25/31 for this month as that will take into account my weekend away too. Hope that makes sense!
Wow, a lot of from the heart posts today. I think it's good to get it all out and try and find the root cause. I know my problem comes from it just being a normal part of life as a child and that carried on once I had my own home. I did stop for quite a while when the children were young, but over the last few years it has defiantly become a daily occurrence which has escalated. We can't afford it both financially or health wise, so hopefully this time as we are doing it together it will work!
Will check in again later, need to get the ironing and some cooking for next weeks lunches done now!

So glad you had a lovely evening mari. It's good that you and OH are working together on the AFness.
That seems a very sharp contrast to you 41, seems your OH is working against you. You seem to be on the right track working out your past relationships around booze and reclaiming your life. Do feel free to 'think aloud' on here if it helps you get your head around it. Are your children very young? It seems sad that you're stuck in the house. You live in such a lovely part of the world, can't you get out and get some fresh air and a change of scene? Start cosseting yourself a bit.:)

Hiya. I've just come back from a meeting and I feel revived. Every time I go to the Sunday one I end up in tears, in a good way. I spoke to one lady about things coming back to haunt me as it were and she said just to feel it as i'd never given myself a chance to before. Usually that would send me running for the wine so i'm going to get on my exercise bike to mtv instead! Thanks for your post 41. I think that i've been with a fair few alcoholics in relationships too. They say birds of a feather fly together so hopefully the next guy I meet will be a vast improvement! As for your hubby, only you know what to do in that situation. It must be really hard to be with someone so unsupportive and waiting for you to fail. Why don't you use some of the money you're saving on a new hair cut/clothes and manicure whatever and make you outside match your lovely new AF inside! That'll make him think a bit ehhh? I agree with jak 41, if it makes you feel better go and treat yourself. If as you say you have had a relationship with alcohol for so long then it has obviously dulled your senses when it came to the opposite sex. It's not your fault that you've been in these relationships because you haven't been in control of what you've been doing - the drink has.
You reminded me that when I was very young like 5ish could have been younger, my mother would give me a spoon of whisky to warm me up on a cold morning and don't forget that gripe water used to contain alcohol as well so there's no wonder we're a nation of p1ss heads! I blame Nurse Harvey myself lol.

At my meeting today I got chatting to a woman who has been sober for 6 months. She said 'i wear makeup now and i might be over the top but i looked like !!!! for 10 years' she looked amazing! That's what I'm hoping/aiming for too! It's early days but I'm doing a facemask tonight and body scrub. Really looking forward to my lovely bubble bath. Well it's my 13th AFD today. Unlucky for some, but not for me!0

Just caught up with the thread - A lot of really powerful insightful stuff seems to reise to the surface when we stop drinking doesn't it.
People were pretty much always drinking in my childhood as well, makes me realise what messages I am sending to my children.
I'm AF tonight too so I think I must be on 9 AFDs - is that right? ANd Mackeroo, I'm in for the full monty SNC next week and I'm also jumping back on the healthy eating/dieting bandwagon as I've put on almost half a stone over christmas:eek:Trying to keep in budget.
