  • Hi just checking in again, this is the busiest hotel around, wonder how I got a bed hahaha. Went to Brewer's Fayre for lunch with OH and kids who went in the play area. Had refillable drinks so apple tango and diet coke. Didn't miss the drink at all but did spot a new bottle of Bulmers hadn't seen before it was a pretty colour, I don't even drink Bulmer's! Anyway food was rubbish I don't know why it was so bad other times it's been lovely, so will email them, too chicken to ring up. It was nice to get out of the house though and the dessert was yummy. So it's the end of the week, I don't feel like a drink and I'm being honest and not smug at all. I last drank on the 3rd and apart from that I have been AF, OH got darts tomorrow night and if I wasn't on the SNC I would be looking for an excuse to drink. So tomorrow I can say that I'm 12AF days in January, no resolutions but I can try, if God wanted me to be perfect I would be an angel with wings and a harp. But I got a heart and a conscience so that must mean something, I want to share my life and not live in my head with a bottle for comfort, reliving the past. So here's to all my friends in here, I raise a toast but its made with bread. Hope I made you laugh, you have made me laugh and cry and I'm so privileged to know you all. Thankyou for listening.

At my meeting today I got chatting to a woman who has been sober for 6 months. She said 'i wear makeup now and i might be over the top but i looked like !!!! for 10 years' she looked amazing! That's what I'm hoping/aiming for too! It's early days but I'm doing a facemask tonight and body scrub. Really looking forward to my lovely bubble bath. I'm in the danger zone as little man is at Daddys tonight and tomorrow x

I think that I am starting to take a bit more pride in my appearance, I have even polished my work shoes today, even though they are steel top capped work shoes!

I have cleared out another cupboard this weekend, and thrown away half a bin bag full of rubbish, I look in the cupboard every time I go past and think how good it feels to have that part of my life organised. I know it's a small part but I need to keep doing this to keep busy and it makes me feel good.

41 - you say you can't even get out of your back door, make it happen for yourself, tidy it and put a plastic bin outside with the booze in outside. Just say that there isn't room for it in the fridge anymore, if you don't want to say its a problem.

    What does OH mean?
I had to replace my car, I got a tesco interest free cc with 18 months interest free period

oh is other half. I've started on the house too. I've invited my little boys friend round for tea after school on Wed, hope he can come. My son is so excited to have a friend over. It made me realise how long it's been. So I'm planning on sorting out the house and letting the boys cook their dinner (well make pizza and cakes). I really hope it works out, i'm desperate for it to go well. X

    Hi all

13AF to report - but did eat half a large bag of marshmallows tonight, so feel sick now!

Meeting date again on Wed for 3rd date - he must think I am mad drinking soft drinks all the time - he knows I am having a break for Jan, said he cant go out and not drink, should be interesting!
But unlike me, he doesn't drink at home, hopefully compliment each other in that respect....

Loving the support again today, and its great everyone feels free to post their thoughts

  • 13AFDs here too, and could you please put me down for the full monty again on the SNC please Mackeroo.

I have been thinking about your post about your toxic friend Jak. I too have some toxic friends who were absolutely foul to me before Christmas, with them and their teenage daughters posting horrible remarks about me on fb. I took on this challenge for January partly to prove to them that I am not an alcoholic as that is what they called me, both behind my back and via the internet, but never to my face. But I realise that it is they who have the problem with the drink as I am quite happy at the moment, and they are the ones still getting wasted and slagging me off at every opportunity. My DH is totally supportive of me and is also on 13 days AF for January, and we both now want nothing to do with them or their children.

When people point the finger, they should look to within, instead of hurting others with their cruel remarks. My true friends are amazed that I have not had a drink so far this year, but in a nice way if you know what I mean. They all know that I have had a difficult year, but that cancer research is close to my heart, and are in no doubt (as I am) that I will see this through.

Well done everyone on another amazing week x

Thanks Rachel. I've been thinking a lot about not only the people I have around me but also how I act around them. I've been such a walkover for so long that I don't get treated with respect. An example, I was at a mutual friends house the other day and I noticed she had a new toy cabinet. Turned out i'd given it to another friend and she had sold it to her for a tenner. Now, I did give it to her But thats a bit of a cheek, especially since shes well off and I went bankrupt 2 months ago.... anyway, time to change. Scares me to death but I don't want my little boy thinking that sort of behaviour is ok x
