What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Well done to MrR, and to MrsR for enduring MIL-R's visit. I'm glad I don't have a MIL, from what Mr Satchmo tells me about how his mother behaved!
:rotfl:I'm quite a tolerent person and I like to give people the benefit of doubt. But honestly she is MENTAL! She isn't just a sandwich short of a picnic, She's missing a whole blimmin' loaf!! It's no wonder MrR is the way he is.
Tracy, how was the date??

Happy Birthday Mini-Maman!!
I have hit my 5/5 as again I find myself in an alcohol free house and there's no chance I'm going out in that for any!! Jacket potato with chilli chicken, a big glass of lemonade and the tv/internet for me tonight.
Very proud of my first no alcohol school week in longer than I care to admit and looking forward to a couple of nights out with friends and the odd small sherry this weekend!0 -
Hi all
Thanks for the good lucks - think he will need them if I ever meet him!!
Was supposed to meet at half 5, hadn't heard anything by 5, so text him, and he said he had just woken up(works nights) - absolute rubbish!! So, had a few beers at home, being miserable, went back on the dating site, and am meeting someone else on Sunday, lol
No AF to report, and I doubt I will get any more in any time soon...

Hello friends, I am back on here again having been busy with one thing and another. I was hoping to have an alcohol free December, but lost my way a bit at the beginning of the month. I have managed 8 AFDs so far, & hoping to get the rest of the month Free as well! Lots of things going on domestically. Wife says she only wants me here because I pay the bills (£1k+ per month), sleeping in the spare room. Shes a heavy drinker who says one thing late at night, & says something different when sober next day. Messing my head up!
But lets get Xmas out of the way, (I have spoilt the last few by being drunk, but not this year!)Openscreen
make £10 a day in Aug - £278.77/£310
make £15 a day in Sept - £479.10/£450
make £15 a day in Oct - £466.51 / £4650 -
There was mulled wine on offer at work this afternoon, but that is so easy to resist, thus another AF day for me please, Shaggy.
Ponderings:
Does the evil "have some wine" voice get fainter with time?
Should I pretend it's Lent all year round, as I find it much easier then - I manage to give up sweets, cake, wine, crisps for 40 days (hmm, I never lost an ounce, though!). The trouble with the Lent scenario is that Sundays aren't part of Lent (which is probably why I never lost an ounce in Lent).
For me, and I only speak for myself, I found that it gets fainter if I continue to keep 'changing'.
The way I previously was, the voice/urge/craving would get louder until I would find myself with a glass in my hand. I was great at stopping drinking, but could not stay stopped. I would set targets for not drinking, and then re-set those targets. I couldn't change my drinking to reach my targets, but rather changed my targets to suit my drinking.
When I was on the wagon, I would feel miserable if everyone else was drinking and I wasn't. I also thought a life without alcohol would be a life of no fun, and things like weddings, Christmas, birthdays, etc would also be dull.
I had to change, and I needed help to do that. After changing (and importantly continuing to stay changed) the desire to drink has by and large left me. I have noticed alcohol so far this Christmas - it's like something that other people do, but I don't.
The desire to drink is centred in my mind, so it's my mind I had to change. I couldn't just wish my desire to drink to leave me.
Good luck.0
