Sorry to hear MrPricey is being a pain but you seem to be coping.

At last, feeling a little better but the urge to drink copious amounts hasn't returned so quite pleased with that.

    16 AFDs please.
  • Thanks, Maman! I've sent him out to play golf today. He reminds me of Matt on the Archers ..... I am glad you are feeling better now. Have a great New Year 2013.

  • Hi All
Glad to hear you feeling a bit better Maman, on the plus side, you are fairly racking up the AFD's :T
Oh Pricey what a shame for you, sounds like a plan to keep him busy, maybe you could arrange to spend time with friends to give you a break.

No more AFD's to report, but other than drinking too much on Boxing Day i have been keeping a wee eye on my consumption level. I would like to get another AFD or 2 before Hogmany but it seems quite unlikely. Hey ho!

Just saw this, can I join, I have a glass or two a night, but I'm giving up on 2nd jan for a month initially, as I know I can do it. It will also save a few pennies.

Hello everybody, I've decided to give up alcohol at home as I have been drinking whatever I have in the house, and then getting more. I can't afford it for the sake of my health, family, and finances. It's become an addiction for which I can't seem to stop myself. :(

It's not the best time to give up just before New Year's eve, but I've reached crisis point where it's all or nothing. I've not been meeting af targets, and feel bloated, and in need of recovery. Alcohol doesn't make me happy. I'm much happier the rare days I don't drink.

I want 2013 to be a happy, healthy New Year. I need some support, and motivation to help me give up so will be dropping in more regularly.

    Good for you Unself !

I am sure you can do it !.

When I went AF last year, I wondered what can I do to fill the time ?

Answer ? - exactly the same without the booze and I feel MUCH better for it (both health wise & money wise !).

Unself - an internet forum may not be sufficient for recovery from your alcohol addiction. If you're not finding it effective in helping you stop drinking, please seek other help. Life is too precious not to give everything your best shot.
    Good luck.

Welcome Cazzy, please join in, we're very supportive of each other here :-)

Unself, welcome and good luck with what could be a battle. GC is right to say you may need other help as well, but also use this site is another support.

I'm reporting only one more AF day since I last logged on, but did manage to keep Christmas Day and Boxing Day to just one small glass of wine with the lunches, as I was the designated driver (and the drive was many hours afterwards). My pattern is home drinking due to boredom.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Thanks for your replies. I am starting out here as I really cannot face seeking external help, and it would make me not go ahead. I am like that with life generally.

My alcohol intake has just shot up over the christmas period. I think I'll just have a couple, but carry on, but then my intake of everything has been excessive this christmas, food, chocolate, mince pies. (I've eaten at least 4 christmas puddings). It passes the time, but I've decided I'd rather feel awake, healthy, and not sluggish.

The easiest course of action will be to avoid the shops, and all the christmas goodies. I have developed a liking for sherry, and champagne, with munchies, and I can't afford it.

Today will hopefully be af. I have only had 5 this month so far.

That is exactly how I want to be, and feel. I will not discount social events, but they are rare for me these days.

I want to stop buying it to consume at home, which I have been doing almost daily. It does make me relaxed at first, but then I don't get anything done as it makes me tired, and I've been counting the cost, I cannot afford it, and I have a couple of very good reasons not to, which have somehow got more relevant.

I'm feeling positive about today, as have lots of soft drinks in.
