What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Hi everyone

I've recently taken the decision to give up alcohol completely due to my mental health and the fact that when I start drinking I literally don't know when to stop. Too many scary nights when I can't remember how I got home have made me realise enough is enough. Thought I'd join everyone here to offer some support and quite possibly have a bit of a vent if I hit any stumbling blocks. Should be seeing quite a bit of me around Christmas then. :)

    welcomewagon.gifwelcomewagon.gifand Good Luck.

Jump into the School Night Challenge (SNC) if you want - just set a target made up of school night's you don't want to drink and let us know how you get on and Mackeroo will score them for you.

Or just come for a chat.

Sending you a spare emergency stop button emergency-button.jpg:D

Congratulations on your decision to stop!

My decision was based around all those reasons plus the additional ones of having to do the round of apologies by 'phone in the morning or logging into Facebook to do deletions and apologies! Funny when drunk is not necessarily still funny in the morning! Not so bad when you are in your teens & twenties but when your in your late 30's, hurtling into your 40's and you still are behaving like this & still have no idea how you got home or what you did then it doesn't really matter how youthful facially you are or how "good for your age" you might look; you ultimately make yourself look stupid and cringeworthy!

I read a book recently called "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs and in it there is a story about the main character going out to meet his friend for one drink as he has an important meeting with presentation to do the next day. The next moment of clarity he has is at 05.30am when he is outside a station looking up at the station clock and he is a mere 4 hours away from doing his presentation in front of the board. Made me gulp a bit - or lot even!

    Good Luck everyone!

1 AF day for me to add on please!

15/15 AF  in November. I wonder what's realistic for December?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
