Morning, well last night I managed to clock up the 11th AF day this month. so reach target I originally set, I think I may get 3 more in this month.
Work stress I need to contain and get my head around realise it for what it is and let it go, easier said than done. Temptation to open and bottle and dive in head first has been immense, but I know the second I do that I will have more rubbish to deal with when feeling rubbish, so don't want to tempt fate.
    Start info Dec11

    B@rclays £[STRIKE]25000[/STRIKE] paid 4 years 5 months early. S@ntander £[STRIKE]9300[/STRIKE] paid 2 years 2 months early

  • Well I ruined yesterday by having a glass of wine at lunchtime because my mum took my daughter and I out for lunch for daughters birthday.....however later on MIL then turned up with a bottle of white in the evening and it is UNOPENED IN MY FRIDGE :)
I am very pleased with myself and am off out with DHs work tonight so will have some but grasping that stop button with both hands.
My youngest started pre school today and I have been VERY down about it- I have had a baby at home since I was 21 (Im now 36) so I am feeling very very sad about my childrearing days being over.
However I have actively chosen not to self medicate this "depression" with wine and am feeling good about actively feeling the emotions (albeit horrid) and crying when I need to etc.
Also actively enjoying sitting on my butt with a laptop and no small people harrassing me :)

Sending you a big hug idris. I know you're mad with yourself for that single glass but in the scheme of drinking too much that (and the unopened bottle) sounds like amazing self control to me:T:T It's early days yet but there is life after being a mum! Start planning things to do in your 'free' time, nice things, grown up things.

I was pleased with myself yesterday and stuck with sparkling water on a meal out. I had allowed yesterday as a drinking day, just in case but I didn't need it.:)

9 AFDs for September and 2 for the SNC please.
  • Thank you maman! I have just picked up baby madam from preschool and she's being a total cow!!!makes the separation somewhat easier lol! I have a 14yo, an 8yo, 7 yo and madam turned 4 yesterday so I've had many years of it being all about them!

  • I have now got to 11AF please Shaggy - and wayhey on your news :j:j

For some reason, I fancied a beer last night - no stress or anything, so had 4 cans throughout the evening
Fella coming over for tea tonight, so I have some wine in

Well done for all those that can stop at one drink - seriously good self control :)
  • Went out with other half last night, had a bottle of sparkling wine and a coffee with brandy in it. Had a beautiful meal, yes I got drunk but I ate food with it and my partner drove home.

Tesco Credit Card £250 £25 DD 0% for next 10 months.

Barclaycard Initial £241.45 0% for next 7 mths.

Most of do that from time to time and enjoy it:D. The purpose of this lovely thread is to help put the brakes on when it's happening all too often for reasons of health, budget, calories etc etc. Were you thinking of joining us on any of our targets? I remember you had four weeks AF, did you plan last night?

Not posted here for weeks but deffo no alcohol on school nights! I just remembered I had a beer on Sunday! Ah well that was my first drink for a week. Feeling much better for abstaining although I've had massive energy dips and chocolate cravings is that normal?

Sorry all, I've not been able to post for the last couple of days but been reading back a bit so here goes (no-one missed intentionally)...

Antonic - I get the same because I want to be home by midnight, regardless of how much I drink. So "forget" them - come the morning you're not going to be thinking "what have I done?".

Idris - brilliant on Monday night. So close, but you did it:j Bottle of wine still in the fridge - brilliant too. Re: babies, DW is 36 and we are hoping to start a family, so I really hope your days aren't over as (really selfishly) that doesn't bode too well for us:cry:

Satchmo1 - great stuff! I met a guy once who worked for World Vision and thought you donated specs to the third world. We were in a station pub :o and we got so engrosed he missed two trains :p but he made it very clear what you do. Good work!:A

1 AF for me (Monday) so 5/6 but last night was very disappointing (all sorts of excuses happened from leaving work, but I went to the gym instead, showered, ready to eat and bed, and then a small delay in food sent me to the pub:mad::mad:). Still, only a couple. Tonight I got so close to going to the gym but capitulated and threw caution to the wind. We've spent the last couple of hours at the pub and I'm deciding whether to beat myself up about it or say that I've just had what was a "normal" night until now, and I've been much better for having two AF days.

Whichever, you guys are always on my shoulder and being on here reminds me I am not alone. I had 3 hours sleep Sunday night but knowing I was AF meant I was up and about like I'd had 10 hours sleep. It is soooo great waking up knowing you didn't drink the night(day:o) before that being tired just doesn't matter.

I'm looking forward to plenty more cocoa nights and self-righteous mornings. Thank you all :A
Smoke-free since Jan 2012 :j Now its just the drink, and the weight, and life in general :p

Thanks Markman, yes thats the top misconception about us - and we've been in operation in the UK for over 30 years. The branding needs a boost methinks.

Come to think of it, if we all manage to stay off the booze we could probably donate megabucks to WV! When I think of the money I've glugged, pah ;(

AF 2 more nights, tho it's not such a battle on the "schoolnights".

    Satchmo x
