I had a worrying text yesterday from MrR's sister.

She had been contacted by a family friend, who also happens to work with MrR. I will call him MrA.

MrA had been approached by a co-worker who mentioned that he could smell Alcohol on MrR. MrA doesn't know how to broach the subject with MrR and he didn't know how to tell me that this had happened. So MrA did the only other thing he could think of and went to MrR's sister.
She text me to tell me what had been said and to ask what we should do about it. I have suggested that she arranges to come over for a visit but tell him she does need to speak to him about something important. I have also said it's probably better if she doesn't mention that she came to me first. If MrR thinks we have been discussing him then he won't be happy.

I don't think for one second that MrR has been drinking at work. It's just the amount he drinks in the evenings means that it's in his skin and the smell lingers the following day.

I don't know what to do. If he loses his job we're going to be in trouble.

Sorry for the downer on a Friday morning.

Is MrA in a position of authority at MrR's workplace? If he's simply a friend/colleague then he could be just giving the heads up before bosses become aware. I think the idea of letting his sister talk to him is a good one. Perhaps she could call him and arrange to meet and talk to him privately if you'd prefer not to be around. He may ignore her or it could be the kick up the proverbial he needs. We're thinking of you and do keep us posted.:)

 Here's hoping this is the kick up the butt needed, and really hope he takes this on board, sadly his colleagues are both now in a really difficult position too. I hope it can be sorted without it going further for everyone's sake. Hugs for you and let's hope it goes no further.

MrA is just a colleague and longtime friend. I don't know who mentioned to him about the smell of alcohol, I assume it was another colleague. If it had been a boss it would have gone further by now.
It's on my mind but I think I need to let his sister contact him.

    Morning :hello:

    I completed the SNC Mari.

I had a couple of glasses of wine with OH last night - probably 4 to 5 units.

    So glad 211989_100000915442962_4348415_n.jpg

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Thanks for the advice, I am a heavy coffee drinker so will give it a go. I have recently started drinking peppermint tea as I was suffering from IBS so will try that in the evening instead :)

Cadbury's hot chocolate is my poison - made with water and milk (like coffee)...I'm also a heavy coffee drinker - I stop between 5 and 6 and switch to fruit juice or hot chocolate.
