Boyfriend has just staggered to bed....I have to say that sitting here sober I'm quite shocked. Red faced, staggering, slurring words.....and that was me  a couple of weeks ago.
I'm so pleased I'm going to wake up tomorrow and feel good. Thankyou so much everyone for your support on here......I would never ever have been able to do this without you.0 -
Well done fakeplastictwee just one beer sounds pretty good to me :T0

Hi all.I have just finished my DVD and am all snugged up on the sofa still sipping my fizzy apple cordial.
i am SO SO glad that i didnt cave in and end up drinking tonight. I am also going to be confident that i can drive tomorrow without a fuzzy head.
Well done crazymum for being able to witness your OH drinking but still staying strong, you are a star! As is everyone else who posts on this thread, you are all truely fab people. I wouldnt have done the last 6 nights, especially this one, without your support, so thanks so much And also thanks to shaggy for keeping score for us.
I am having an early night now, as i have an early morning and long drive tomorrow. Have a great night everyone.0 -
Well done guys! so proud of you all.
I had a funny one this evening- a friend came up for dinner and we both like a drink- however when we arranaged tonight we both said "ooh im not drinking" so she came up, we had a cuppa and chatted while I did my ironing (I really do rock quite hard LOL) and we made tea for the kids (mine and hers) then I cooked a curry for us. Husband came home and I really thought he was going to bring wine. he didnt!! He even went to the shop to get some poppadoms and didnt buy any! I actually offered friend a drink at one point in case she DID want one but she didnt. She then left after Eastenders and I went up and put all the clean sheets back on the bed and hung out with my 3 year old for a bit just playing. Now if Id have even had ONE drink the sheets would have seemed insurmountable. I would have got REALLY narky with husband if he hadnt helped and I would have been DESPERATE to get back down the stairs and drink more- really impatiently waiting to get away from the kids etc.
Instead I just hung out calmly, chilled out, all the sheets are on the bed properly not manically thrown on and I came downstairs and made a fruit tea. I am going to have a fag in a min, but that will be just my 3rd one since Monday.
I was thinking of all you lot while I was pottering around, and drinking coffee with a friend who I usually drink LOTS with (in fact last time I went out with her I was sick!!!)
Thank God for this thread xxxHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

I think we're all pretty rock and roll......iristhedragon you rrrrrrrrrock.
woohoo what a brilliant thing to be sitting here sober and just feeling brilliant
once I'm feeling more confident on the drink, I'm giving up the smokes.....and then caffeine (which I obviously wont need as I'll be feeling so good) well done iristhedragon with the ciggies - stick with it....
but for now....I'll calm right down, and remember....one day at a time0 -
Some great Friday night vibes......well done everyone !
I've done OK tonight too. I was worried as it was going to be my first real test of the New Year - I have my mum over tonight (not that she drives me to drink LOL !!) and she always likes a glass or two of wine with her dinner. So the for the first time this year, we opened a bottle of wine in Chez Cheezy and do you know what.....I didn't even get a pang.
I went straight for a diet coke and didn't feel at all deprived. Definite progress ! I'm even going to pack mum off tomorrow with the remainder of the bottle.....
So Shaggy can I please declare 6 AFDs for Jan so far, and wish you all a very happy weekend0 -
Hi there,
I used to post on here quite a while ago. In the past it always helped me to keep focused especially with the challenges. I can't always get online so previously found it difficult to post and keep up, but really want to try again. I have just read through the thread and there are some great things going on on here at the moment. I haven't had the best AF start to the year but as there is no alcohol in the house today has been my 1st AF day in months. I am so tired all the time and know this is down to the lack of quality sleep that comes with daily drinking.
Crazymum I can so relate to your posts about your past drinking and its effects on your family, you are doing fantasticaly well.
idristhedragon Well done on your AF evening with your friend, I have found these are often the times when I crumble and give in!
Take care

Hi all, I'm afraid I haven't posted on here for a while, as I've had a bit of a bad week involving a bereavement of a close friend... I'm gradually coming to terms with it however, and the good news is that I haven't had a single drink yet this year
It hasn't been too bad as my mind has been occupied with other things so I've barely noticed it to be honest! I'm hoping that at least the one good thing to come from this sh**ty week is that it's set me up in the right direction for the rest of the year, drink-wise, and hopefully I can now continue down this path.
I even have a couple of bottles of wine in the house and a left over bottle of champers from NYE (which was admittedly very boozy :embarasse) and I haven't even considered opening them this week!
So I'd like to declare 6 afd's for Jan so far please Shaggy
P.S. I'd also like to thank everyone for their warm welcomes to the thread:j
