Argh, the 'I'll only have 1 drink" thoughts have already started :(

Cleggie - just focus on the lovely pamper evening ahead and remember how good the mornings feel :)

I'm looking forward to relaxing in front of the tv, book in hand and I might even go the whole hog and have a cuppa hot chocolate :)

Tell yourself (out loud if you have to) 'I'm not having a drink tonight!!', as each hour passes it will get easier as you won't want to waste an AFD so late in the day. Focus on how great you'll feel in the morning as opposed to how rubbish if you give in. Make yourself a coffee and find something else to do!

We're all rooting for you (and anyone else finding it hard:)).

Cleggie- I can't say why it is so hard for you because i don't know but I can tell you why it was so hard for me.

It was hard for me because I was addicted to alcohol, just like many many other people are. My addiction meant that I craved a drink even though I wanted to stop. Alcohol was so powerful to me that it twisted my thoughts. It told me that I could have one, in fact I deserved one. It told me that I didn't have a problem, that drinking was even better than not drinking. It made me believe that I had been mistaken in my belief that I wanted to stop drinking.

I tried 'just one' a few times......it never worked. It may for you, it may not. Even now I sometimes think maybe one won't hurt...frankly I'm not prepared to take the risk in finding out. John Coats says in his book...remember your last drunk,,,,,no typo.....because for people with alcohol problems it was never your last drink it was your last drunk. I'm talking about me, not you, but I hope it goes some way to explain why you may be finding it so hard. If it was easy it wouldn't be a problem would it?

    Run that bath!!!!! x

    Thanks so much 365days.
Well, i did what i normally do when the kids are away, i went to tesco.
Now, normally i go to tesco to buy a bottle of wine....but i have just returned with:

Pizza (pepparoni, the kids hate it)
Galazy Chocolate (the kids normay eat it all)
'Posh crisps' (kettle chip type ones)
A new DVD (was only £3. Its called 'Bucket List')
    Lemonade
    Apple cordial.

I didnt buy any alcohol at all!!!! :) and as i was walking out of tesco, i was grinning to myself as i knew i had done the right thing!

So i am on my 6th AF night!!Yes, i know its big, but i am proud :D:o
