Thanks Shaggy. I got given some sachets of Cadburys hot choc in a Christmas hamper, so will use those up.
The kids are going to their dads this evening, so it'll just be be at home. I am determined not to drink anything, but to have a nice bath, and go to bed early, read a book and wake up on Saturday morning all fresh and ready for my drive. I am really looking forward to it too :)

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Good morning crazymum!
It's great waking up without a hangover/fuzzy head isn't it!!
Fancy joining me in having a pamper evening this evening instead of having a drink?
  • Mornings feel amazing :).... everything is feeling amazing, I even slept pretty well last night.

We walk the dog first thing and it is so nice to have a spring in my step rather than waking up, feeling like I've got a whole pile of cardboard in my mouth, self loathing for drinking again, lethargy, tiredness, disappointment.....need I go on.

Cleggie right there with you for tonight - from the sounds of things there are a few of us on here preparing for the Friday night struggle.

I'm feeling incredibly positive after my rants yesterday - I shocked myself when I wrote it all down. Some things I'd forgotten, maybe conveniently, it's amazing how we just carry on and tell ourselves it's all fine. When I read it back, I realise just how damaging it has all been....and it has made me realise that I really really don't want it in my life. My friend - the whisky bottle - was not a very good friend to have at all.
In fact my favourite things in the world to do are gardening and reading.....roll on the spring :) and so looking forward to actually having the energy to enjoy it all....

Re ; Friday Nights. It maybe worth thinking about why Friday is so significant. Do you feel like you deserve a reward for a week at work, Is it because you want to signify the beginning of the weekend? When I stopped drinking it kind of coincided with a local Waitrose opening. I would treat myself to something small but extra yummy and stupidly extravagent on a Friday as my treat. Maybe without a saturday hangover you could plan something in for a saturday morning.....if you love reading visit the library, gardening say you are going to go to a garden centre on Sat. morning and spend a fiver on a nice plant. When you first stop, it's worth taking the money you would of been spending and treating yourself. The time will come where it can be saved or put towards debt but for now use it to invest in YOU.
