    Today I have felt strange and have been experiencing symptoms that i can't explain. Despite me cutting back on the alcohol, I am wondering if its starting to affect me.

    Dont diagnose me as we arne't allowed, but I am having pains down my arm and pains behind my breasts, more so on MY left side. I feel quite dramatic saying that and i'm still waiting for my appt with digestive disease re my hiatus hernia to come through, hoping that will help. But still........don't want to go to the docs as i do feel like a hypocondriac when i go there. The blood test and chest xray came back fine, yet i still am experiencing things, esp this week.

    I'm hoping its linked to being very tired (not much sleep due to either me or the kids) and quite stressed.

    Night all.

    I'm sure you're right cuppa that it's just stress and tiredness. If I were you I'd get to bed and get some sleep right now BUT do call your GP and get an appointment. I'm sure they won't think you're a hypochondriac and it'll set your mind at rest (on that at least) as worrying is likely to make things even worse.

    Good night and sleep well.

    Oh and 9AF for me please.

    But the best thing I did was read the Allen Carr book. I swear, something happened in my head and what he said just seemed like the truth.

    I have the Allan Carr book about alcohol - unread in a drawer - .....does it really work? (Clearly not whilst in a drawer!)

    Morning, Cuppa sounds similar to something both DH and I have experienced in the past, too much caffeine, insufficient sleep and that old chestnut stress were the culprits. I know you like tea but it has caffeine in it! Perhaps swap to water / fruit juice / squash? Also I found yoga, pilates and Alexander technique helped me. Plus blackout blinds and curtains, no TV in the bedroom and reading not watching TV before bed all helped. We both gave up the booze at that point, but didn't make a lot of difference, the caffeine for DH was the biggest thing, he was consuming vast quantities in the form of l*cozade and cokey cola Anyway, whatever, you need to see a doctor, this is not a normal feeling so go see a medical person.
    (Sorry that was bossy, but we have your bestest interests at heart)

    Stupot - what you to lose by reading the book? You (presumably) bought and so it actually owes you money, make the most of your investment. Worst case you read it , nothing happens and you sell it at a vastly reduced price somewhere or give it away, fairly academic as you don't have the money it cost you to buy it! Go on, be brave open the cover, it is unlikely to be cursed!
    16 for me please

    I find drinking hot squash (currently Ribena) good for both AF and anti-cafeine reasons. I find that as it's hot I sip it rather than pour it down my throat as I used to when I first switched from alcoholic to soft drinks. Plus it's caffeine free.

    It worked for me! I bought a copy after reading recommendations on older parts of this thread. I didn't have any intention of giving up alcohol at the time (although I very much had a need to regain control), but was intrigued as to how the 'Allan Carr method' works, having known people who have given up smoking based on his smoking book. So, I read it - and found it really annoying and repetitive, but at the same time, when I stopped and thought about it, I couldn't fault what he was saying. By the end of the book I had no desire to drink, and (incredibly, given what I was like before) I haven't craved a drink since.

    Who knows how long it will last, but I'm 6.5 months alocohol free now :) (and saving a fortune as an added benefit:):))

    It may work for you, or it may not - but as you rightly say, it's certainly not going to work whilst it's sitting unread in a drawer...

    <waves to everyone else - I'm still reading avidly, even if I don't de-lurk very often!>
