Some great posts on here today, thank you. :T to foreverhopeful (good on you ticking that box yourself:rotfl:) and de1amo.

    Have a good holiday gien.

Good luck for tomorrow from me too cuppatea.

I decided to have a drink tonight, don't really know why now. I didn't really enjoy it that much so have wasted a potential AF day. Hopefully, I'll remember that if I'm tempted tomorrow.

4 AF for me now, the wine called to me last night, and didn't have the positivity to deny myself....feel a bit rough this morning, serves me right - off to do some exercise, burn it off if I can :)

Hope last night went ok Cuppa
  • Hello everyone glad to see such positive and encouraging posts this week. I don't want to give up alcohol completely but I do admire people who decide that is what they need to do and work towards it with such evident success - well done.
I have been AF Mon - Thurs so that's 4 more please for a total of 8.
I know that this is an alcohol thread not a weight loss discussion but I just wanted to share that since the beginning of July I have lost 2lbs without really changing what I have eaten so it must be the cutting down on alcohol; I'm really chuffed.
Another change I have noticed is that I am really aware of the taste of the wine I have been drinking. Because our financial situation is changing we have been buying some cheaper wine (in plastic bottles from Sainsburys :o) and when I was drinking it last weekend I found it made the inside of my mouth 'curl up' and quite honestly I would have preferred my fizzy water and lime (I still kept drinking it though because it was the weekend and a 'drinking day'). I think that now I am trying to keep to 20 units per week I shall try to persuade my husband that 'my' two bottles a week should be a slightly higher quality; he can continue to drink the plastic vintage if he wishes!
  • Cuppa I should have said, I do hope yesterday evening was useful and not too painful and the children enjoyed Dad putting them to bed. XX

Thanks guys for thinking of me. Firstly one more AF to report please

Last night, well where do I start. DH arrived 15 mins late again without apology this time, said he hit traffic:mad:. So what pull over and send a text, the kids want to know what's going on.

Anyway he bathed the kids and we put them to bed and started talking about 7pm. He said wanted to try but didn't feel ready to move back in, so we should just take it slowly. That is fine by me and probably for the best.

I talked about various things which I feel has got us to this point, some of which he agrees with some not. But he said he would think about it and take it onboard.

He is coming by again later to see the children and maybe have dinner with me, but i'll play that by ear nearer the time, i'm not sure.

What I did get annoyed about is at 8pm he said right I had better go (his friend he's staying with) is doing dinner for 8.30pm. A few mins later he was gone. He never gave me the impression I only had an hr of his time, I thought the evening was open ended until we naturally finished talking. In fact I could have gone out last night as I had an invitation to do something. But I declined as I wanted to prioritise our chat. He seems to have no idea.

My friend who's supporting me has asked me to go with her tomorrow to a play park. We've been before and its a nice day out, but I have no transport this weekend and DH has the car. My friend says that DH should drive over tomorrow morning so I can use the car, he can then do some chores/mow the grass etc, but DH hasn't offered to help or anything. Why should he have another free saturday to do his own thing.? If he wants to ease his way back in he should help with the chores too and give me some time off.

But I know if i suggest that it wouldn't go down to well, she has a very valid point though. I am doing it all and he swans in and out taking no responsibility for anything and assumes that is ok.

I think later on i might drop a hint saying me and kids have been invited out, but we can't go as we have no transport. (No bus route to this place either).

Do I sound harsh or a mug?

:wave:cuppa. You sound to have coped well with the situation last night.:T You certainly gave us the impression OH had set aside yesterday evening for a chat not that you had an appointment for an hour!! I don't know why you don't just ask for the car tomorrow. Is it far to where he's staying? Couldn't he leave it for you tonight? I don't see why you should be left with two children and no transport as presumably he doesn't work at weekends so has no real need of it. When you say 'maybe have dinner with me'. I think you need to ask whether it's a flying visit in advance. You're not a drive in restaurant!

Sorry, I'm getting irate on your behalf.:o :T on the exra AF day too.

Olderbutnowiser, two things resonated for me with your post. I'm not specailly proud of the fact but I find I'm more motivated by the calorie reasons for cutting down than I am the health. I came on here and cut down from nightly drinking to weekends only and generally less on the nights I choose to drink. Having done that, I then joined Slimming World. There is no way i could have stuck to any 'diet' without cutting down first. I lost 3.5 stone in 10 months that way and I'm delighted.:D Secondly, not only did I drink much less but I became much more discerning. I used to drink the 3 for £10 offers, now I have wine in the £5-7 a bottle range. I do the shopping so DH wasn't consulted.:rotfl:I did go down the 'my bottle' route but I told him it was so I could keep a tab on how much I was drinking. Lately I've changed to drinking white so it doesn't matter (DH has red). It must be the summer weather!
