I'm really sorry to hear you're having such a bad time with your husband Gardenanna, sounds like a nightmare.
I was out to dinner last night so had one small glass of wine (100ml) and will probably do the same tonight as I'm of to a mexican evening (no mojitos though!)Trying to keep in budget.

Haven't been on for 11 days which means I am still only 4 AF nights for the entire month.
Had 10 days annual leave including 2 summer weddings which prior to both I promised myself I wouldn't drink to excess! They were both very boozy affairs in a stately homes with free flowing Champagne and Pimms! Uploading wedding photos the next day there were all the photos I didn't recollect; but I'm in them!
Last night myself and OH had 2 bottles of champagne in the garden for no reason at all other than the fact we can.
Tonight I need to try and get on some sort of track again!
Feeling ashamed.....!

Morning all
I'll get the hanging my head in shame bit out of the way first, last night I succumbed to the lure of wine and polished off a bottle and a bit  I feel like carp, both physically and emotionally. I can't believe after doing so well lately how easy it was to make excuses to myself and everyone else and just drink because I'd had a bad day. I'm going to have to reevaluate today, as I obviously cannot be trusted to have one drink.
Anyway enough of me moaning it's my own fault, must try harder!
bearacus and gardenanna sounds like you've both been having a rough time, sending big hugs to you both.
stupotstu don't be ashamed, it seems so easy to slip back into drinking, I'm searching hard for my stop button! How did last night go?
gien Well done, you'll have to give us tips on how to stop after one drink! Hope the Mexican was lovely!
Right must get off to work, have a great day everyone

20 for me please
Hugs for all of you who are having a rubbish time. It's very easy to slip into the drinking, as my previous post will testify. I am pleased that I didn't drink every night I thought I would over the bank holiday but seems to be if the bottle is open it must be finished. So now I plan if I open a bottle and I am on my own I will not finish it. If I share then no more than a bottle per person. And I think I need smaller wine glasses!

I so understand and sympathises with the I meant to have just one and then got plastered' syndrome - done it so many times!
The trouble is, thd just one drink we have then lowers resistance to the next one and you're on a slippery slope.
I have only been able to stop after one with dinner because I have deliberately taken the car and need to drive. Quite stupid really that I havd to resort to such antics, but it has saved me from a thick head a few times.Trying to keep in budget.

Hi All
Gardenanna, you have my sympathies. Crisps?? Really??!! What a bizarre thing to get worked up about.
Bearacus, Nice to see you back
Nothing new to report in the Rainman household. After a 3 bottle evening on monday I was all set to have a major discussion with MrR last night about the quantities, cost, and his health. I'd psyched myself up, and then he got in and said he had to go back to work. Was there til 10pm, but still stopped at the shop on the way home!!
Happy wednesday everyone

Hi,
Can I join please? I'm afraid I drink wine pretty much every night with my evening meal with OH. I really want to cut down on this to save financially, to feel healthier and not have that heavy-headed feeling the next day.
So I not only want to reduce the quantity when I do have a some, but also lots of days during the week/month when I have none at all. :A
How many AF days do people on here usually average?
Thanks.AFD 0/310 -
Another new poster here. I saw this thread a few days ago and thought what a good idea it was so although I joined MSE to try to get some advice on pensions I thought I would post on this thread too and introduce myself.
I'm a middle-aged woman who, like a lot of people, has got into the habit of drinking a couple (or sometimes more than a couple) of glasses of wine most evenings. If I'm honest it's a rare evening when I don't have a drink. Apart from the obvious health reasons, I really want to cut down because my financial circumstances have changed recently; I was made redundant and my husband is about to take early retirement. Also I would like to lose a few lbs and wine is VERY high in calories.
From reading back a few pages it seems people pledge a certain number of days in the month when they won't drink, is that correct? I'm a bit late for June but could I say 15 days in July? I probably won't manage any weekend days but I'm going to get in the swing of things by not drinking today or tomorrow.
Looking forward to 'getting to know you'.0 -
Just popping on again to say this, I'm going out on Friday and have made the decision to drive and not drink instead of going on the train and drinking. I really uhmmed and ahhed about this decision and neally made an excuse about not going.
Instead I told my firiend the reason why I was thinking about not going - because I'm not drinking. She reassured me it didn't matter if I didn't drink and then the penny dropped for me. Of course it doesn't matter, its how I think about it in my head.
So its not a test in anyway because I won't be bothered about drinking, more a new experience and a different kind of night out to experience. Looking forward to it now and also looking forward to waking up fresh as a daisy on Sat!
Ginger ale or fizzy soda and lime? All with ice and a slice of course
