It's been a long time coming for me, but I am currently 24hrs AF after an 8 year continued abuse. I have nobody to blame except myself, and nobody to answer to either...
The circumstances that lead to the initial problem are now no longer of consequence, and I have managed a month or so total sobriety in the past, but always found myself falling into the 'social drinker' trap.
Spiralling health conditions (unrelated to substance abuse) have made me want to fight it harder this time - but one day at a time as the saying goes...0 -

Hey guys, wonder if I could jump aboard this thread? I am not a big drinker usually a 6 pack on a Saturday night but it worries me in that I am finding it very hard to give it up, I've been doing this for years, I am addicted I guess.
Agree with maman here, def sounds like a habit - hope you get the inspiration to break it from the peeps on hereIt's been a long time coming for me, but I am currently 24hrs AF after an 8 year continued abuse. I have nobody to blame except myself, and nobody to answer to either...

Congrats on the 24 hours, can I jump in with my usual reply to newbies (considering I am still one!) - Buy the Allen Carr book, it is so worth the £8 or whatever it was. I have now not had a drink for 35 days, previously unheard of(apart from pregnancies)
Wishing you all the luck in the world x
26 AF please Shaggy
I did go to the beer garden with the kids yesterday evening, had a boring lime and soda :j Need to find a new drink, fizz keeps me awake0 -
Hi Everyone

For the first time in a long time i dont have any plans this weekend so i plan to have a good run of being AF. I only have 4 pounds to get to target. I lose the weight at the start of the week :Aand then at the weekend, when the wine comes out so does the munchies and bang goes my willpower
Going to up up my exercise for the next few weeks too, see if that helps.
A big welcome to the newbies, hope you stick around, there is loads of support here by the bucketfulIt’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts0 -
