I have to hang my head in shame... Fell off the wagon in March. Had some upsetting news re my son and kinda went off of the rails for a couple of weeks - you know the spending as a sort of escapism. Bought some shoes x2 (and another but returned them), jeans (and another but again returned these), 2 tops, a dress, was buying food & wine like it was going out of fashion & went out more than I could afford.

Happened across the fiscal fast challenge and managed to get back on the wagon. Am back in the game for April :D

    Ooh blimey!

I have been on a spending frenzy!

Last week I paid a fortune to get my hair cut (leave it six months at a time though) in readiness for my fiftieth on Saturday.

Treated myself to some converse and some wonder handcream from Neals Yard - it is incredible on these old granny hands!

Then I had a £10 spend in Oxfam (but that comes under my £10 charity shop allowance) and I bought myself a steamer!!!

The steamer is transforming my life!!!!

Also  I went out for a friends birthday last Saturday and my daughter came too and it came to an absolute fortune - my friend offered to put in extra money she'd got from her Dad but I wasn't having that!

And I still have my party to come the following week so my savings have really been depleted!

    Me too.

Happy Easter to everyone and I will update after the holidays! Things going ok but I could do better!!
  • Hi gang thanks ruby & looby :A am feeling much better and in control now :j (my kids will honestly be the death of me :()

Am v happy about my spending. I went away with 2 girl friends for a couple of days to Brighton and *only* spent £83 including travel and accommodation and for that we went out to dinner, went to a comedy club (free), went to a gay bar and then sang karaoke until 1.30am, had breakfast, a pint & fresh sea food on the beach and bought a bone china cup & saucer that I am going to make my best friend a tea cup candle with. Very impressed, while we were wandering around the lanes I feasted my eyes but did not deplete my bank balance :T

ruby hope you had a fabulous birthday yesterday x

Oh dear haven't frequented this thread for a while as I have been on a spending frenzy.

It all started with my fiftieth birthday money which I could legitamely spend but then I got a taste for it and don't seem to be able to stop.

Some things I've justified as being my presents to myself such as a garden bench and some mirrors but I need to rein myself in in May!

    Hi folks,

well I've got a Wall Of Shame declaration to make. I purchased a tube of L'occitane hand cream, and I shouldn't have as it was totally un-necesssary as I'm only supposed to be buying the bare basic toiletries, and I already have plenty of hand creams.

In my defense it was because I was in Calgary which is the nearest major city to where I live and it was a case of if I don't get it now I've no idea when I could possibly get it in the near future. So it's tucked away at the back of the wardrobe until the other stuff has all been used. On the plus side it was the only thing I purchased even though I was surrounded by lots of temptations.

Hope everybody else is still doing okay with the challenge, I know it's gone quiet here, but if we keep at it the outcome at the end of the year should be better than if we hadn't.

I've put it in my signature that I'm carrying on with this challenge through May.

ETA: I think that's 2 Wall Of Shame declarations I've made so far, a carrier bag of books from the charity shop, and now a tube of hand cream.

I've been fairly good in April but I did have to go into hospital so the subsequent recovery forced a no spend situation!! I've barely been outdoors in weeks so has been fairly easy!

However, I did have to remove my piercings for the op so ended up having to buy piercing pliers and new jewellery (in case I broke the old stuff/to replace some piercings I couldn't get back in myself and buy smaller piercings in case I couldn't get the original sizings back in etc). Also had to buy some larger clothing items to accommodate my recovery. So spends out of necessity only really as I didn't want them and couldn't afford them! Probably about £80 of enforced wasted money for April.

I don't see me spending in May, I'm really skint beyond words so should be fairly easy to stay on the straight and narrow :D

I'm going to get back on the straight and narrow for May too although I will be spending on the garden.

Realised I had two posts in a row saying "I have been on a spending frenzy!"

    Very naughty indeed!
