I am still here too - just lost the thread for a while. Spending has been much better than before the challenge but a very long way from where I want to be. I have however realised that I am a comfort spender and spend when I am unhappy. I was doing really well until work started to get to me (short staffed and unappreciated for the extra I have done to compensate, stitched up by full time colleague complaining my work is not to her standards etc) and got upset discovering OH had a guilty secret. Still, I have recognised the pattern now and can work to rectify the situation on the spending front and on the personal issues and hopefully turn things around. I have managed to pay off one overdraft but have signed up to an OU course and need to pay for that this month so unlikely to pay off the other one just yet.
It's good to hear how others are getting on and I shall endeavour to post more frequently and pop in to read more than once a month!
Good luck all and keep going! You can all help me achieve so much this year!

Looby you have filled us all with curiosity I'm sure!

Hope things get better for you soon. xxx

A wonderful thing communication! OH's guilty secret has turned out to not be quite as guilty as I first thought and I do believe him. The problems have arisen due to computer pop-ups of the v. dodgy kind appearing on laptops. I was v. angry because the children use the laptops and OH had obviously been looking at p*rn and not shutting down properly. I am still cross about that and have told him in no uncertain terms that if he want to use it to do so whilst ensuring that our children are not exposed (they haven't been as far as I know - there has been no suggestion from them about dodgy pop ups). Standard old school picture or film p*rn dosen't really bother me - except on the moral side (would you want your daughter to do that?, exploitation, etc) but I was really bothered because I thought he was doing the interactive stuff with the pop ups which to me is akin to cheating. He says he's not and they just pop up behind the film and he dosen't know and I think this is true. Certainly no money has been paid out.
Dosen't make me feel great all the same but a bit of googling last night holds up his explanation plus exposes the fact that apparently 80% of men have used their laptop for p*rn. I was a bit shocked but as long as the children are not exposed and it is within what I call 'normal' standards and not dodgy beyond normal remit stuff i am not that fussed.
Now I could of course have had the converstaion with OH days ago and saved myself a lot of lack of sleep and worry about what to do! Plus the cash from the emotional spending too!

and I hope he's clearing the browser history and cookies off each time - if you're not 100% happy with it though looby, I think you are justified to have a little spend to make up for it!

Update from me - no more unplanned spends apart from one potted Carnation from Morrisons, £1.50

I guess they are a neccessity.

I've haven't any Wall Of Shame declarations this month. I did buy a book ( which actually broke 2 rules, the no spending one and the not buying anymore books one) but then I had my birthday and was given some money so part of the money paid for the book and the rest of the money went to debt repayment.

How has everybody else done this month?
