Please can I ask you ladies a slightly personal question?

Those of you who are overweight or obese, and of the right age.....do you still get periods?

:grouphug: daisiegg, you seem to be having a real hard time just now...remember, things always get better :)

Can't speak for right now as I'm taking a pill which stops bleeding, but through all my fertile years I had no problems at all and had regular periods. My highest ever weight was 13 stone 10 lbs (and I was in the 13s for quite a while)

I think your sister is panicking you unnecessarily, although she is right in saying that weight is a much easier thing to change than other problems. I hope it comes right for you soon, maybe you need a doctors visit if you think it's been too long without them starting again?

ETA: without going into details on here, my DSs are proof that big fertility problems can be overcome..please don't panic prematurely!

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

    Thank you :)

I think it is too early to go to the doctor yet - I only came off the pill at the beginning of September. I think they would just say give it more time, and lose weight....and I suppose they would be right.

On the plus side, I think it has spurred me on...I was feeling a bit peckish this evening but after my conversation with my sister I just had a glass of water. Completely lost my appetite. Hopefully it will last!

Even if it is the truth it is really upsetting to hear :(

On a different topic, does anyone know if theatregirl is ok? She usually posts a lot?

Only September! I thought you meant since your wedding!
There is plenty of time for things to settle down and come right :)

She's still logging on mfp, maybe she's just busy?

I know, it is completely silly, only like 38 days or something :o I think I am borrowing trouble a bit.

    That is good - I don't use MFP so I didn't realise.

My sister just really upset me. I was moaning that I haven't got one yet since stopping taking the pill and I am worried that I will struggle to conceive. She said the most likely reason is my weight (she is a student doctor).

Ok I am just in the obese category, but I am not THAT overweight. You see women much fatter than me pregnant and with babies. I knew I wanted to lose weight before trying for a baby but I was just thinking about having a healthy pregnancy; I wasn't thinking it would actually stop me conceiving. Now I am faced with worrying maybe I am too fat to be fertile?! I actually feel so upset and like crying. My sister tried to say 'it is a positive thing because it is easy to do something about it'....what does she know, she has never been bigger than a Size 6 :( sitting here having a bit of a cry now :(

I'm 17st 5lb, 5'3" tall and 42 years old. I've been pregnant 3 times and have fallen pregnant the first month of trying all 3 times. So my weight hasn't affected me, nor did I have gestational diabetes or anything which some overweight pregnant women do get.

Hello, here's my day, not too bad even taking into account cake and chocolate.

    B. egg, mushrooms, tomato and slice of vege "bacon"
    L. Hummus and 2 slices halloumi with wholemeal pitta and vegetables, tiny slice of lemon drizzle cake.
    D. Chick pea, barley and veg soup, salad, 4 squares dark chocolate.

    Exercise: Ceroc dance class.

    Good night all!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Morning all :D
    The plan for today is:

    The usual burgen toast
LO Bol on cabbage instead of spaghetti.
Sticky chicken thighs with roast BNS and leeks.
Will try and just have a couple of oatcakes as snacks and am planning half an hour in the gym.

    Wish me luck xx

    Morning all.

Scales this morning are showing 1/2 loss - I'm not sure whether to be pleased that things seem to be moving after two weeks STS, or disappointed that it's not more when I've been trying really hard this week. :undecided Oh well, there's still a couple of days until this week's weigh-in so there's time for more to go.

B - small portion granola with strawberry yoghurt
L - probably a LC meal deal - I've somehow slipped back out of the habit of bringing lunch to work with me, which isn't good :o
D - tomato, lentil and bacon soup (basically minestrone but with lentils instead of pasta), with a piece of wholemeal bread with no butter

daisiegg - I don't claim to have any medical knowledge but I can't say I've heard that being overweight can cause problems with periods, although I know being very underweight can have that effect (my sister has suffered from serious eating disorders on and off for years and hers tend to stop when she gets too thin :(). I seem to remember that, when I came off the pill (for health reasons) a few years ago it took a couple of months for my periods to re-start and they weren't regular for another couple of months after that, so I don't think you've got anything to worry about yet. Big hugs, though, as it's obviously worrying you.
Back after a very long break!
