Hi chums well diet nurse is happy and I have lost 2lbs since I saw her two weeks ago so I am pretty pleased myself. She doesn't want to see me for three weeks now as she says I am being sensible and eating enough to lose weight and keep it off.She says that half to a lb a week is more than enough to ensure it will stay off. While I was there she captured me for my 'flu jab as well :):) still it saves on appointments and she will be chasing all the old biddies like myself to make sure we all get jabbed :):)
Ham salad for dinner tonight and I actually made it a bit smaller and was still full up.had an orange for pudding Mr T's have some delicious large navels at the moment for around £2.00 for 4. One is really nice for a pudding
Crisps never bother me as I have never been very keen on them even when I was eating badly.
    Tomorrow
    B :Cereal and banana

L: soup and crackerbread with philly cheese and salad bits on it

    D chicken curry,rice , yoghurt for pudding

snacks ,just fruit as I am away for the weekend and want to use some of it up before I go.
BMI has gone down another .3 to 41.5 its slowly dropping which is great .It was 45 ish when I came home from my holidays in August :):):)
I will try to stick to my plan over the weekend but it will be harder as I am visiting my brother in France and his partner Sandra is a super cook.I shall just have to watch the portions carefully :):)
Have a good weekend chums I shall be busy tomorrow so I may not be around until late Sunday when I get home.

I do miss a really strong cheese though .I still have some but its carefully weighed out and grated for a salad.I am a real cheese nut and could at one time happily eat a chunk or two as a snack. Its not until you realise how much fat and calories are in what I would normally have had as a snack that I realised how bad it was to eat like that .Even after my Op. I don't think I will go back to eating as I used to.I have got used to eating three meals a day now and nothing but perhaps a piece of fruit inbetween.
So its Hi ho Hi ho its off to see the nurse I go this morning :):):) fingers crossed chums

I'm the same with cheese, before starting my weight loss campaign I would often go to the fridge and cut a piece of cheese off the block and eat it, especially while cooking dinner, and of course just a small piece of cheese adds a lot of unnecessary calories, I haven't done that since I've been losing weight and I don't intend to let that habit start again when I get to my goal weight.

Re crisps (and other no-no's) it may be stating the obvious but just don't buy them? If I had them in the house they'd be gone in a flash, so I avoid naughty snack areas of the sm, it saves money and cal's.

I don't buy any crisps or sweets at the moment, if it's not in the house I can't be tempted, so OH and I have to avoid the 'naughty' aisles when we go shopping, lol! Of course it's easier now it's just the 2 of us, it was a lot harder when DS was younger as he always wanted treats and I wasn't very good at saying no, especially if things were on offer, as I could never resist a bargain, lol!

OH and I have had a couple of busy days. Yesterday we had an appointment at the bank to open a new account, so as I wanted to do some shopping in Mr M's, we said we would go to their cafe for lunch. The appointment was at 1.30 but we didn't get seen until 20 mins later and it took over an hour to get it all sorted, so we didn't get to Mr M's till about 3. We had a meal there (I had sausage, mash and beans and OH had scampi and chips) and then did some shopping, buying some crumpets to have in the evening as we didn't want another meal.

On the way home, I got a call from a workmate saying that a doctor from the hospital had called about my dad (very worrying as my dad is 88 years old), so when I got home I called the hospital and was told my dad had been brought in after having a fall and the doctor was with him. She said to call back in half an hour as they would know more by then, when I called back they said he had been discharged about 5 minutes after I called and was on his way home. We went straight round to his flat thinking he would be there but he didn't arrive home until over 2 hours later! I asked the ambulance driver if he'd gone via Scotland, lol, and he said he hadn't collected him from the hospital until about 45 minutes before. If we'd known he hadn't left the hospital, and was waiting for transport, we could have picked him up and had him home over an hour earlier! I'm pleased to say that he was ok, no injuries as far as I know, and he was more bothered by the fact that he hadn't managed to get to the betting shop, lol!

Anyway, we didn't then get home until about 9.45 so we just had a cup of tea and a cereal bar. Then today we went to my dad's flat for me to do some cleaning and OH did some gardening for him, didn't get home until 3.30 so missed lunch, so we were both well under our calorie goals yesterday and today, as we just had breakfast, a couple of cereal bars and for dinner tonight we had jacket potatoes, beans and sausages.

Hiyas all from a horrendous grim wet day in Wales x

Yesterday was a fab day focussed falling in with s/w but more conscious of MFP also drank loads more fluids I came to conclusion that if I cant drink water anymore (i go thru this now and again just cant stomach another glass at mo), squash and diet pop is going to be better than no fluids at all, still no crisps and not even missing them..

B-60g of fruit and fibre 200g 0%greek yog.
l-a small portion of shepherds pie with 100g of pots and 100g swede and carrots.
d-corned beef stew, 1 large potato 2 carrots 1 small onion and 150 g corned beef prob be 4 big bowls tho so will be fine.
    snacks-hifi bar and a banana..
drinks - at least 2 litres of uncaffeinated drinks.
exercise- 30 min walk done, 2x20 mins on bike and hoping rain stops as want to go do some shopping so walking for yonks there..

Well, yesterday was a complete write-off: I was short of time, and didn't have much appetite, a combination which always leads to me making bad choices - I know I have to eat something so grab whatever seems to appeal, which is almost never something healthy. :o Today will be better, though:

Brunch - two slices of seedy bread, topped with a thin spreading of pesto, sliced HG tomatoes and the last little bit of cheese and baked; bunch of grapes; flapjack cookie
Dinner - veg stirfry with a small portion of rice noodles

I might go out with friends tonight, but it depends on the weather and whether I can be bothered having been out for the past two nights. :o
Back after a very long break!

    Hello, everyone.

My weight has gone up over the past 2 (rather stressful) years due to comfort eating. I'm now 12 stones 12 and, although a solidly built 5 foot 7, I feel enormous!

Anything under 11 stones is OK. Under 10.5 stones I look a bit peaky.

Anyway, I started on Monday, eating healthily and cutting out as much sugar as possible. I was beginning to wonder if I was addicted to it.

    Monday:
    porridge and blueberries
tuna sandwich on HM bread with sweet pepper
Veggie ready meal for tea - 250 calories

    Tuesday:
    porridge and pineapple
    HM marrow soup
veggie ready meal for tea - 270 calories
    banana

    Wednesday:
piece of toast (we were running late)
    tuna and pepper sandwich
trout with boiled potatoes, carrots and half a corn on the cob
    yoghurt

    Thursday (today)
    sons' wheatos cereal
Moroccan chicken sandwiches from Sainsburys as my kitchen is being re-fitted 280 calories
    veggie ready meal and carrots

Looking forward to weighing myself on Sunday - on the Wii as I've never needed a pair of scales before. :-(

Go cold turkey LisaJane! (that's only my opinion, you don't really have to :))

I have been known to walk down the sweetie aisle in the sm, going "no, no, no, I don't eat these any more" :rotfl:

Like sparrer says, if you don't buy them, you can't eat them.

I cannot purchase pringles, or jaffa cakes...that would be a big mistake :rotfl:

    Hi Ellie

It's nice to know that you only have jaffa cakes and pringles on your list.... I would type out mine but it would take to long :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Re your mum.... As you know, it's because she sees it much more than just food.. It's such a social thing so her giving you substitutes just won't work.. neither will she listen to your diet requirements.. Mines has been the opposite ... she always greets me with .. When are you going to do something about your weight ?' or words to that effect.. I don't think she has ever asked me how I was or how was my family getting on..:(

Anyway, just take her goodies willingly and just give it away to neighbours, friends and the like..

I just thought I would add my tuppence worth for the day :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well, at the top of the list would be popping candy chocolate (thanks mum for introducing me to that!) but I was taking that as a given...

I do buy other kinds of crisps and biscuits for DS, but as long as they're not my favourites, I'm okay.

You're right about DM, I was just gobsmacked when she said she didn't care about my healthy eating. She's not in the best of health, so I should be grateful she still wants to bake I guess. 9 months I've been telling her...9 months, and she still offers stuff every time I visit!

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Well, last night I was busy... We were building up another pine sideboard that I bought on the net.. I bought one already for underneath my tv so that it would give me some drawer and cupboard space so I bought one for my dining room..

I was busy during the day cooking.... Cauliflower soup...

Put a little oil and butter (for the flavour) in the bottom of large pan and fry one small onion and one garlic clove.. While it is sizzling, chop the cauli florets from the main stalks... You can also add some of the smaller leaves.. Add to the pot... Give it a stir and add 1 1/2 pts of water.. I usually add a couple of chicken stock cubes and leave to simmer for 3/4 of an hour... Yesterday, I had to also cook a smoked gammon joint so I threw that in the pot as I had run out of gas rings.. I also had a couple of carrots going begging in the bottom of the fridge so they went in as well.. Once it has all cooked down ... use the thingwymajig and swizz the soup until it is lovely and creamy looking.. Taste and season if necessary.. At this point, traditionally you would add cream, so I added a little low fat philly instead.. I also grated in some strong cheddar cheese (about 50 gms) and stirred that in as well.

Calorie wise, it is not too bad if you don't add cream or cheddar cheese.. :)

I also had some boiled potatoes leftover from the night before, so I made a potato loaf.. Again, as it is so filling, rather than the light airy bread that is sold in the shops... one slice is plenty so the rest will go in the freezer..

I also made some pasta sauce ... I needed a couple of slices off the smoked gammon so because I used that, I had to cook the rest of the gammon.... hence it being thrown into the soup..

But although I had done all that, we didn't finish the sideboard until almost 9 o'oclock, we only had time for a bowl of soup with the bread so today, we will have the pasta...

I've also spent all morning and up until now sorting stuff out and putting it in the cupboard .. so I also cleaned all the skirtings and got rid of a year's supply of fluff... so I am now sitting down having today's bowl of soup and taking a little time off to read the posts..

So all in all, things are looking good so I hope you are all well...:)

    Hi Ellie

At least your mother cares... Just think you could have a mother that couldn't cook and she has obviously done it all her life.. I can't make jam without giving half of it away... I don't know why, I just do it.. It's the same if I make tablet, mushroom pate or salmon pate... It's in the genes !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
