Good morning
Here's yesterday for me:
B. scrambled egg with smoked salmon and rocket salad on small slice rye
S. nuts and almonds
L. Small slice rye, 40 g mature cheddar, 5 gherkins, small tomato, small apple, almonds
S. more nuts, 2 Oreo biscuits (with the boys I look after, in their home - I don't keep Oreos in mine!)
D. 2 mixed veg and brown rice bowls of soup
Drank some walnut liqueur while watching TV. Not much but it adds to the calories.
Today plan:
B. whole oats porridge with apple and prune compote
L. Leftover veg soup with brown rice, sprinkling grated cheese, salad
D. If the oven is fixed: vegetable and lentil shepherds pie, if not, veg and lentil casserole with cheese crust (done under grill), greens, hm coleslaw, cooked apples with yogurt
Hope you all have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Now why didn't I think of that?
I hadn't even considered if sponge could be frozen! Thank you KW.
In case you're wondering - I ate a quarter of it, and DS arrived later, so he scoffed the rest
But it does highlight the stupidity of eating something nice and not really enjoying it. I've got a few birthday meals and drinks this month, but I intend to enjoy every bite, first one on Friday night

I try to stick to 1200, with a bit more if I go walking...I don't lose anything if I go up to 1400 ...it doesn't give much leeway for any little extras
No, when I dance on my own I'm still rubbish..what's the female equivalent of "dad dancing" ? :rotfl:)
Hahaha that made me laugh! I'm no good at all but something about dancing on my own makes me forget that (and I have no mirrors although the dog does stare at me with embarrassment!)
I guess you have to find your own calorie level, for me 1400 is ideal, although on average i seem to eat between 1100-1300, whereas weirdly if I only give myself 1200 then I always go over, I think its psychologically being restricted! I know that at some point I will either have to up the exercise (at the moment I am only doing two lots of 40 minutes a week so gives me plenty of manouverability (made up word I'm sure!) to up it, or do lower my calories which I don't want to do.
The only other thing I can think of is to look at your breakdown and see if you are eating the recommended carbs/fat/protein? I check it each day as I tend to eat a lot of carbs and not realise, so I check before dinner and change bits if it is too high. Hope you find something that works xDebt Free by 2015: £5839.01/£13000 1% challenge = 44.91%CAMRA Member: Drinking Ale doesn't make me any less of a woman :beer:0 -
When I'm watching my weight closely like this, I have a terrible habit of standing on the scales every morning! First day I stood on them I was 10st 12lb, then I had a good day and was 10st 11lb, then I had a horrific weekend food and drink wise and stood on them and was 11st 1lb! Had a reasonably good day yesterday and this morning was back to 10st 12lb!! I don't know why I bother!
Still living in hope that I will lose 2 lbs by Friday weigh-in and be 10st 10lb so that I am on target for my 1lb a week target weight loss. I think I can do it if I lay off the crisps and cut down more on the sweet stuff and keep exercising.Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):

Re crisps (and other no-no's) it may be stating the obvious but just don't buy them? If I had them in the house they'd be gone in a flash, so I avoid naughty snack areas of the sm, it saves money and cal's.
ellie perhaps say to your Mum that it's lovely of her to bring the treats round, you know just the friend/neighbour/homeless hostel who can't afford those things and will be very grateful for it. She might not want to feed the neighbourhood! When anyone buys me choc's or other sweet treats I give them to the lovely 14 y/o next door who lets my dog/cat out if I'm out for whole day, she's nice and slim and never says no. Fortunately most people know I don't like chocolate much so it doesn't happen often
sachatith I'll dance at any opportunity - luckily for my children/grandchildren my lungs aren't so good so their embarrassment is short-lived
B - F&F, ss milk, ff Greek yogurt
L - 3 crackerbread, 1xvegemite, 1xrf grated cheese & sniff of pickle, 1xhoney
D - grilled back bacon, Cumberland sausage, pork loin steak, chestnut mushrooms, charred vine tomatoes, sweet potato wedges (friend coming for dinner, wouldn't do all that just for myself!), apple crumble, C d'Or rf ice cream
S - carrot batons
E - to wet to get outside so cleaning lounge/kitchen. 1 x 10 mins exercise done 3 more planned.
Have a sunny day whatever the weather0 -
Morning all
Checking in for accountability so that today doesn't turn into a continuation of tomorrow *oops*. Didn't manage to resist the chocolate at work, despite the guy next to me threatening me when I went near it, I just waited til his back was turned! Then when I got home, bf went to the shop whilst I was cooking and came back with a box of toffios, a big bag of crisps and a packet of chocolate digestives. All gone over the course of the evening. *ahem*
New start today:
B: cinnamon gruel
L: veg soupnot sure yet, I'll go to the big supermarket after work and pick up something.
There's a tesco express next to us but I was disgusted when I went in the other day and couldn't get any veg for less than a pound:eek: I can't believe how inflated their prices are these days, they really take advantage of people's lazyness.
ellie99, I would be having a fight with my mum if she ignored my requests for not bringing cake around and not offering cake when I went there. I don't know what the answer is though I'm afraid, she really should be showing you a bit more respect. I second what sachatith says about looking at what you eat rather than just sticking to a calorie limit, I've never managed to stick to a calorie controlled diet but I do lose weight when cutting way back on carbs.0 -
Morning all
I need some help please.. I'm feeling quite cold and miserable, really can't face my usual walkI also know they I don't want to give it up, I've tried too hard!
I've been walking for 1.5 hours every day, is there any sort of similar exercise I can do at home? I don't have any fancy exercise equipment. Plus, I have to avoid abdominal exercises.
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.OS Weight Loss Challenge... 3.5/100 -

Hi LisaJane
I wouldn't stand on the scales every morning.... I used to do that and if I weighed heavier than I should have, I ended up standing on the scales during the day as well.... and if I still wasn't happy... I would end up putting the scales on different parts of the floor until I was happy with the reading..and then I would accidently on purpose put my hand on the side of the bath to steady myself and that would take off a few pounds as well...
You don't need scales to know how you are doing so if you don't want to turn into a 'weigh addict', put your scales away until the weekend... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
PS I dug mine out the other day and I was able to vary my weight by a stone just by shifting the scales here there and everywhere.. The cats thought I had gone mad.... That's why I stick to the wii...
Hope you don't mind my tuppence worth...:)0 -

Hi Sparrer, I would have said the same to Ellie but you beat me to it... My nextdoor neighbour has 3 boys who hoover up everything that I can't eat... so it's either them or the chickens at the bottom of the garden... but I don't want them to become fat !!! Whereas the boys next door are like rakes and always running around..
Have a nice day... :beer:0 -
If you have stairs, [A], go up and down them a LOT. Run them if you're able. Failing that, low-impact jumping jacks, stretches, maybe look on YouTube for low impact aerobics exercises if you can't put too much pressure on your abdominals?Novuna personal finance 0% 4-year £518/£1866Credit card debt free!
