Wow I had no idea you could brown things in the slow cooker well you learn something new everyday eh, and bless you do a wonderful job with the Cats I would love a cat or a kitten but think our spoilt rotten cocker spaniel would hate it..

    Hi JustKaren

It depends on what make of slow cooker you have. I have an American Crockpot which states it can be put on the gas cooker .. so just be careful in case you ruin yours! :)

Thank you for your other comments.. It keeps me sane... If I didn't do all the things I do, I would have to watch Jeremy Kyle...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi
Well had a lovely day out shopping with my Mum, we are not often off work at the same time so it was lovely to spend a whole day, chatting and catching up.
I was very good and as she had hot chocolate and a muffin in Costa I had a black coffee with no sugar:A
I also had a salad or lunch and small portion of spag bol for dinner, I surprised myself with my restraint!

Second weigh in at ww and i have a loss of -3.5

KW could you adjust my target for the new challange to a round 14 I think portion size is my key, why didn't I realise this 10 (or even 20) years ago:D

  • A disappointing STS for me this week. I didn't reach my target but at least I'm still going in the right direction even if its slowly.

    Evening all :)

I'm impressed with all those who have lost weight.. And very inspired! :D well done all of you :T

    Meal plan today:
Breakfast: crumpet with a scraping of butter and jam. Cup of tea, no sugar
Lunch: LO keema mattar on toasted ciabatta, bruschetta style (x2), glass of milk
Snacks: banana, funsize pear, 2 tbsp strawberry yoghurt.
Dinner: mince/veg pasty, mash, roast carrots and beans.

I tried to have a small portion at dinner but I've been getting the horrible feeling that I'm eating too much :( can anyone please tell me if this is the case? I've been feeling really guilty over the past few days. It could be psychological but best to be sure..

I also managed to walk 3.7 miles :j it's getting easier! I hope to keep it up.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good evening,

Today I ate a fair amount but all healthy (ish) but could have done better for weight loss purposes.

    B. fried egg on rye toast, yogurt with chopped pear and ground linseed
    L. Salmon coconut curry, veg curry, 2 types of rice, too many oat choc biscuits
    D. Lentil veg soup, salad, 1/2 artichoke

    Exercise: 45 minutes bootcamp
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Just a quick catch-up.

Nice to see you back with us Molly41.

Dinner tonight ended up being haddock in breadcrumbs, peas and about 10 brussel sprouts (I just love brussel sprouts) I’m so lucky that a fish van comes to my area every Friday & Saturday mornings – I know it’s probably more expensive but I just don’t like the frozen stuff or what’s available at the supermarket – it just don’t taste the same.

Dont feel guilty - there is some useful info on t'internet on portion sizes and how to combine the portion size of protein, carbs and veg.

I think Sparrer mentioned earlier about using a smaller plate and a teaspoon to eat certain foods, I do this too and yes get some rather questioning looks if I do it in a restaurant :p. The plate I use measures 8¼ inches (inside rim 6 inches) therefore a good couple of inches smaller than the average dinner plate.

I was brought up to always finish what was on my plate and in some ways I’m lucky in as much, if someone piles high a plate of food to serve me it puts me off before I even start knowing that I will never finish it. I dislike being rude and wasting food but nowadays I’ve become very assertive in telling people that it’s far too much otherwise I just leave it on the plate.

I remember hearing or reading somewhere that you should leave the table satisfied, but not so full that you couldn’t sit and eat the same amount again.

Knitwitch - can you put me on the list for next time please with 5lbs as my target.

  • Good Morning chums well having lost another 2lb this week I have cracked the first stone .It has gone and I am so pleased .I started my new healthy eating plan (hate the word diet) when I returned from my holiday on 25th S
August which is five weeks ago so I am happy that I have lost 14lb in 5 weeks.I know it will start to slow down a bit & know as the first one is relatively easy to lose ,its the ones that follow that take their time .But its all going in the right direction, and small changes have made a difference.
I no longer eat bread at all, and I dropped down to skimmed milk from semi-skimmed.I drink far more water than I did, and far less tea.
I have my one treat of a pot of coffee with my eldest DD on a Sunday morning and we have Elmlea 'light' cream in it.But that is my only treat of the week.

I think I have eaten the British GNP of Crackerwheats or Ryvita's in the past month:rotfl: and consumption of fruit and HM soup has risen.Lots of salads and veggies for dinner in the evening and three meals a day with no snacks inbetween.Lots of fresh fish, and even tinned sardines or salmon has helped .I feel a lot brighter and seem to have more energy .I shall carry on with what I am doing as it must be doing me some good as I'm no longer carrying that extra stone around anymore .

Now to shift the rest :):)I am determined that I am no longer going to carry the equivelant of another person around on my back ,not only that I must get shot of the excess baggage, as I have to see my surgeon in December as he won't do my reconstruction op. unless I lose some weight.

My goal is 16st by Christmas and 14 st by Easter. With luck I will get my new boob in the summer, just in time for my holiday in August next year. Both of my DDs have been so good in coming along for the ride with me, and supporting what I want to do.Just to be able to go into maybe M&S and buy some nice underwear off the shelf especially a bra will be amazing.

I just can't get on with the prosthetic that I have, and just want to feel 'normal' again instead of lop-sided.
I'm sure we all have valid reasons for wanting to alter our shapes a bit, and having beaten breast cancer I now want to beat obesity.

I know I can do it ,but I'm not going down the road of shakes and replacement meals I want to do it slowly so it will stay off.I told my DD last week its taken a long while to creep on and it won't all fall off in a month .I'd rather it went slowly then hopefully my slim self will emerge instead of this rather shapeless lump :):):)
Good luck everyone in your quest What reasons do you all have -apart from health- that makes you want to lose weight It will be interesting to see what the replies are :):)
Anyhow Good Luck and onwards and upwards.
    Today 's menu
    B: cereal,chopped banana

L:soup & crispbread with low fat cheese spread and sliced tomato and sliced cucumber

D:this I have to be careful with as its my eldest DDs silver wedding buffet party tonight,so I will have carrot sticks and some sliced chicken and some salad No sweet things ,but I am actually losing the tase for sweet things and prefer more savoury bits
Right I'm off to do some cooking as I have 5 dozen sausage rolls to knock up this morning for the 'do' plus some chicken breasts that I want to cook with a chilli dip I shall then slice up the breasts into strips for dipping.
Have a good weekend everyone and enjoy the late sunshine

Thank you so much! I was sling down in the dumps last night but soon cheered up this morning when I realised I'd lost 2lb since Monday! I've tried dieting in the past but it's never worked for me, the longest I've lasted is a week :o so for me to be continuing with the healthy eating/exercise plan and actually look forward to it is nothing short of a miracle :rotfl: this thread has really helped me - I don't feel like I'm missing out at all.

I shall use your tip of using a smaller plate, it can only help!

JackieO - that is fantastic! :T I've always been on the tubby side and now, at ye grande olde age of 24, I've decided to do something about it. I like what you said about it taking an age to accumulate all the weight, so it won't drop off in one go. Like you, I prefer the term 'healthy eating' because that's what it is. 'Diet' indicates that I'm missing out on something and having to go without, when I'm really not. I'm not as disciplined as you though! I still have bread, and 'normal' meals.. I've just cut out all fatty, sugary snacks, fizzy drinks, fried food etc. And snacking in between meals.
The major turning point for me was when I had abdominal surgery back in March. I've been unwell for a few years but that's all changing now.. I figured it's about time I changed things for the better.

Knit Witch - am I right in thinking that the new challenge starts today? If so, do we post our start weight on here or.....?
Thank you for doing this for us :)

Breakfast: LF pineapple cottage cheese on crackers x2, glass of water
Exercise: walked 2.8 miles today, hoping to do at least another mile later on.
