  • Oooh, Need2bthrifty, that Alternative Cottage Pie sounds really good - quite inspired by that and think I will make a Quorn version next week. Yum!

I've replaced my too small trainers with some lovely new walking boots. Quite chuffed with them as they are a good make, leather and are so comfy - plus the rrp was £85 but they only cost £28! Thank you Factory Shop! :D

I'm managing to walk 3 miles a day now, it's amazing how quickly you can build the distance up. I'm still not a pretty sight at the end of those three miles, but who cares? ;)

I'm going to add a little time on the wii fit each evening to try to help me get a bit fitter as, until I am walking faster, I don't have time for a longer walk!

Good luck to everyone who is weighing in today.

B - slice of toast and marmite plus banana
L - 2 ryvita, salad and half can tuna
D - Quorn sausies, small potato, huge pile of runner beans and greens
S - apple, 1/2 mango, couple greengages and couple brazil nuts

L – Soup (Butternut Squash), slice of toast.
D – Baked Fig with Mozzarella, slice of ham, Salad, l/o lentil & mushroom salad.

Feeling hungry this morning so breakfast will be Adam & Eve on a raft or 2 poached eggs on toast :D

Hope you all have a good day.

It was quite tasty but I think I made a mistake boiling the sweet potatoes and/or mashing them to much so the topping was a bit wet, think next time I would bake the potato.

Thanks for the advice :) think I may slice the sweet pots and lay them on top of the pie and then stick it in the oven for a bit, so it gets nice and crunchy on top....I'm quite looking forward to this! :)

Oh, and well done on this weeks loss!

    Morning All

Well I am reporting in with a -1lb
We spent the day at Legoland yesterday which was surprisingly hilly! I was very good and took a packed lunch and not 1 ice cream passed my lips:A. I confess actually I did lick a bit off my arm when ds collided with me, but it was a tiny bit:D
We walked so much I'm sure i'm a foot shorter than when we got there, but we had glorious weather and the kids were so surprised when we got there, it was lovely. So anyway all back to normal now, kids back to school, me back to work and starting my free ww trial next thur so see how it goes.
    So today, planning
    B. toast, scrape of butter and tiny blob of jam
    L. Ham and tomato sandwich
    D. Beef curry, rice, green beans

Thats a good idea may try that myself.

Also sending positive vibes to everyone - just had two magpies visiting my garden and my poached eggs came out of the pan looking like Sparrer's yin/yang symbol - can only be good :j

3 miles a day already :T I think we have a new walking addict :)
You have inspired me back Tiffany Aching...I have gone out to walk this week and thought "I can't go far, it hurts too much", but then I've thought "I've encouraged TA to keep walking, I'll just go a bit further" :)
I'm only managing about 2 miles, and having to wear a back support, but it's better than nothing.

I'm thinking I might declare my weight tomorrow, today the scales are going between 2 weights (they only weigh full pounds until I get under 10 stone, so that will be a while!)
Will be good today and see if I can get the pound off to stick...I really want to hit my target at the end of the month.

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?
  • I'm declaring 4lb weightloss this week - which is too much I know, but I have been quite poorly this week and lost my appetite. Even though I have, I've been sticking as close as I can to my daily calories (have been a bit under but not too much) and hopefully I have now figured out that it is dairy :(:(:(

Having said that, I'm going to keep testing over the next 7 days, had my first dairy free day yesterday and felt ten times better last night, but I also cut out caffiene which is another indicator. Today I am giving both a miss again, purely because I am camping this weekend and can't afford to be feeling poorly. Monday I am off work so will re-introduce a small amount of caffiene, then the rest of the week I will experiment with various dairy products to find out if it is that, or if it is lactose or if I am completely barking up the wrong tree! Still a little bit of pain today but can't expect miracles overnight so we shall see.

Anywho, I will put on a couple of pounds over the weekend through camp food but shouldn't be too bad and will mean I average out for next week.

    Today:
    B - 2x nimble toast with marmalade
    L - Paella
D - baked beans on toast (back at scouts tonight so straight from work, shove food down gullett then back out again and off to do shopping for camp straight after!)

    Happy weekend everyone x

  • Morning everyone. Very happy to report a 2lb loss this week :j
The weather here is horrible and wet here this morning so I'm planning a cooking day to use up some of my glut of tomatoes. unfortunately I do have to go to Sainsbobs first to get some ingredients.
Congratulations to everyone who's lost or STS'd. I hope everyone has a good weekend
  • Hi All

I have put on +2.5 lbs this week....

I know I have slipped up but at least I know why....

I've been making tablet all week for several charity fund raisers... I make different kinds .... Swiss Milk tablet, tablet with Baileys and tablet with marshmallows.... Unfortunately, according to my doctor, neighbours and friends, I make the best tablet they have ever tasted, and I also find it irresistible... and I had to taste all the different kinds and then I picked another square and another and another... so did my neighbours so I had to make more to replace the amount we all ate... and so it went on all week..! In case anyone doesn't know what tablet is... It has been made in Scotland for hundreds of years and it is a very sweet and very easily eaten... (except the bought stuff, which is pathetic) ...a square of tablet is often served up in very expensive hotels with a very expensive malt whisky... That's just to give you a bit of history... but children and adults love the stuff.... :j:j:j

The ingredients consist of butter, condensed milk, sugar, milk and vanilla essence.... so I think it is the most calorific foodstuff that can be popped into the mouth !!! The better the ingredients , the better the results.... so that's why I have put on the weight... but I would have to say ... I would do it again... Luckily, I only make it twice a year for charities, otherwise, I would put on all the weight I have lost !!!!

Also, I am flying off on holiday on Tuesday... I am really looking forward to it.... I always lose weight on holiday here's hoping that I do so on this one as well...

I am sorry that I have been busy this week and unable to post as much as usual, but I have enjoyed reading about how everyone has been getting on... while I have been making the tablet... I have also been making another pair of jeans but I used a different pattern... I tacked the seams together and the jeans will be far too small.... but guess what ???? I am going to finish them when I get back from holiday and then hang them up on the outside of the wardrobe door and use them as an incentive to carry on ... so you never know, I might be able to fit into them by 'C'.....time..

Take care, everyone and good luck with the weigh-ins...

PS I am going to post another recipe before I log off...
  • Yesterday, I took a pork joint out of the freezer and popped it in the slow cooker... It could also be cooked in the oven...It's just that I didn't need to worry about it all day... :)

Anyway, I then put a little pot on the cooker and dissolved one chicken stock cube in 3/4 pt of water... I then added a good couple of tblsp of soy sauce.. I tsp of worcester sauce.. and I then used up a little oyster sauce that was left in the bottom of a bottle ... 1 tsp sesame oil ... 2 tsp vinegar, and a tblsp of maple syrup... taste and add salt and pepper if needed.. Pour over the pork and cook for the recommended times... Baste occasionally... Once cooked, remove and pour the gravy into a jug.. Take off any fat that is floating on the top.. you can do this by floating a slice of bread on the top... and the strain into a little pot and boil until it starts to reduce... Carve the meat and pour a little of the gravy over each slice and any leftovers... This ensures that the pork doesn't taste too dry and keeps it nice and moist...

Although there is maple syrup in the recipe, it is quite negligible in the great scheme of things unless you were to keep all the gravy to yourself !!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You could also add an onion or garlic if you like... I also use up any jam that's at the bottom of the jar...

I dare say that you could use the same ingredients over a chicken...

    Enjoy
