You're probably right sparrer! I was just having a moan ;)

And why not? A good moan often makes me feel better ;)

B - Missed. (Woke up early full of good intentions then fell asleep again til 10am)
L - duck scrappy leftovers with salad in a wrap
D - trout, mushrooms, tomato, sweet potato wedges
S - grapes, apple, veg batons
E - 1x10 mins done, will see how the day goes but I ache in places I didn't know I had after yesterday!

  • Hi Everyone...

Not a lot to say today except that I am trying to get my garden tidied before I go on holiday... so I went into the basement to get some of my other tools.... Well, you would never guess... I know that I moaned about my beloved munching and grazing away and losing 5 lbs... but he has been eating his way through my Belgian Chocolate drops that I bought for baking... (I usually make goodies for local charities) and I bought a huge bar of Cadburys for the same reason and... the wrapper is all that is left !!! Ohhhhhhh ... not only that, but he denies eating it.... and there is only me in the house apart from him !!!

There is actually a message in all this... It goes to prove that one person can eat whatever they like (whether active or not) ... HIM and another person might have to eat more carefully (on the go all the time) ... ME .. to keep the weight in check.... so therefore, one theory does not fit all !!!! It's just the way we are made ... That's why I love looking after cats... They sleep over 20 hours out of a 24 hour day and they still catch a bird on the wing !! Fit as anything... I must try sleeping/sitting for 20 hours... maybe then I could catch a bird on the wing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well, that's all for today... I'm off to make myself another pair of jeans....
  • Hi everyone

Having been a lurker for some while, I am now well and truely addicted to become a well established MSE'r. For me it has always been a choice between saving money and being overweight or jumping on board the nearest fad diet and spending loads.

I did WW a couple of years ago and lost 3 stone. Since then I have had some personal problems but am now on the mend. I am determined to get finances down and am doing really well. I am still a member of WW but have now been stuck on the same weight for about 6 months despite (honestly) sticking to it. I also go to the gym at least 2 - 3 times a week but am maintaining weight because its building muscle.

So to stop me waffling - when is the next start date? I was delighted to see an old fashioned lose weight as I really want to shift for Christmas.

I eat healthily anyway but now I am looking at saving on groceries I need inspiration and I think this board will really help me. I'm going to go and dive in and read as many of these pages as my eyes will let me, but is it literally a case of cooking from scratch, eating healthier and exercising more or do you follow calories etc?

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated :D and I look forward to joining you on your next challenge if I can

    Love x

Next one starts 28th September and will run for 12 weeks (finishes 20th December )
    Must use my stash up!
  • Thanks Knit Witch :D I may set myself a mini challenge from now until then of losing 6lbs in just over 3 weeks (in keeping with the thread) so that I don't use it as an excuse to eat loads of rubbish now! I also need to get exercising and cancel my WW.

Hope that is ok as I think it will really help me to post diaries and stuff. Starting today..

Currently 13.4 (overall want to get down to 11.5 but thats for next year) so my aim for the end of this mini challenge is 12.12 by 27th September.

    Todays meals

    B: Porridge with skimmed milk
L: Salad with Mr T's light cottage cheese
D: Home made lean lamb lasagne and salad
E: Take the dog for a 45 minute walk after work

  • Thanks officeguru – I appreciate the advice (and everyone else’s kind words):)

Knit Witch I think that is a good idea – please remove me from this one and hopefully I’ll be ready to join the next one.

Tiffany Aching I have always had a sluggish body however I have been drinking loads (a litre at a time) of apple juice (I know this isn’t good for me given all the sugar) but that sorted me out and whilst I won’t be drinking that much I am hoping a 200ml will do the same trick.

My biggest problem is that I use excuses … this time is my hormones which I have recently sorted (well hopefully). I used to be fairly active and now I am not and I am not sure how to break the cycle – I lose weight 4-5lbs in a week, then I have a sts and a couple weeks gain. I have a lot of weight to lose so I struggle to concentrate on mini goals and look at the whole picture which in my case is 126 pounds however I would be quite happy just to lose 84 which is still a lot.

I feel like I am failing myself and my daughter not making a proper attempt at losing weight and I really don’t want her to have a fat mum or the same problems as me with my weight. I also want to start cooking more healthily for her ... we have been heavily reliant on take aways lately which I am a shamed to admit :(

I have been having a look at some cheap healthy recipes as money is tight until the end of the year and I have made myself a plan … but then again I do this every time I want to lose weight instead of actually doing anything I make notes about what I am going to do … A vicious circle :o

Hopefully once I have made a few lists of meals and calories I will start to stick to them ... My Christmas box is a tablet so I should have an easier way to access the internet rather than catching up whilst I am suppose to be working ;)

    Hi - can I join too ?
I've been losing weight / dieting for around 6 months now - and its starting to show slowly - yay! but I'm not getting a lot of support at home.
and as I'm approaching my goal its getting harder and harder to shed the pounds
I'm 155lbs and aiming to get to 147lbs and with the sumer holidays over I need to focus a little more. I'm not sure how to set a target over time though...if someone could let me know I'd love to join in - thanks

welcome cheeswright, you can either just chat along on the group here or if you want you can join in the challenges - they run for 12 or 13 weeks and you pledge how much you hope to lose in that time (picking a sensible amount - no more than 2 pounds a week really), we weigh in on a Friday (or Saturday or Sunday :rotfl:) and there are 4 more weigh ins for this challenge - the enxt one starts at the end of this month and runs until 20th December :D

If you want to join in the challenges just let me know as I currently run them
