  • Thank you to everyone who sent me hugs and helpful comments about my inlaws... and also highlighted that others have had similar experiences...

Well, today I thought I would replace the batteries in the wii before I went out and bought new scales... well, it worked and it registered that I have put on +1 lb... I have no problems with that as I know that I haven't put on the weight and if I weigh myself tomorrow it could say I have lost 2 lbs... but I weigh myself once a week and note the results... Neither am I going to bounce it all over the living room floor to get a better result.... I have been there and bought the tee-shirt.. I used to be a compulsive weigher but not now.

    Anyway the thoughts of today:

Because I am off on holiday, I decided to buy a couple of pot noodles and mug shots to try them..... I have never tasted them before in my life and I can honestly say that I don't know how people can eat that stuff !!! Now I know my beloved son ate absolute rubbish from about the age of 15 to the age of 22.... but then he grew up !!! I ended up giving the rest of the pot noodle to my chickens :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: and they have the cheek to make you pay for that stuff...

Easy peasie pot noodle... Get an empty container with a lid... Boil the kettle, put about 300 ml of boiling water over 1/2 a chicken stock cube (or your fav stock cube) and add about 60 gms of wok noodles... (They sell them in lidl...) they are better because the noodles are pre-cooked and also separate so you don't have the hassle of having to stir it all the time .... stir once and then put the lid on and then stir again after about 4 to 5 minutes... Home made pot noodle for a fraction of the price and a lot tastier...   You could also use a little leftover cooked food that could be stirred through at the end.. like a little chopped meat..or sweetcorn.... At least you know what you are eating !!!

I caught that programme about the slimming racket that was on last night... I can't remember who recommended it, but that's the 2nd episode that I have caught by accident and the programme just echoes what I have worked out years ago... We ladies of a certain age, will remember what life was like before supermarkets and that the only shops you had was the local grocers or the co-op.. so the choice of food was a lot less... and the only fast food was the local chip shop and the nearest exotic restaurant (chinese) was about 12 miles away in a town with the population of 65,000.. and it wasn't cheap !!! Nowadays, I could feed a family of about 10 for a £6 munchie box out of the local Indian takaway.. :(

I also think that we are giving children too much choice.. For example, if we didn't eat our main course, you certainly wouldn't be allowed a dessert or sweets or anything else.. Whereas today, my friend's daughter cooks 5 different meals for her children and husband.. Apart from the cost, she should really be cooking only one meal and putting it down in front of the family and if anyone moans, tell them where the local hotel is and that they can move to it anytime.. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: After all, if I stopped cooking for my beloved, he is only able to cook cabbage and even then, he ruins it !!!!

I think this forum is a great idea because you are not forced to weigh yourself in front of a lot of people, you are not judged but given loads of encouragement and also advice.. I believe it works because we have all been there and bought the tee-shirt... We have all different ideas... For example, someone out there might love pot noodles :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: .. but mostly, we are not being brainwashed into believing we must eat this or follow this diet or buy this food... an so on...

After all, someone might tell me to dig out the stepladder and get the huge Toblerone on the top of the wardrobe and put it in the fridge and then eat it every day until it is finished... :) but until that happens, it is staying where it is !!!!

Well, I think that's all for today... apart from the fact that I made myself a frittata... Chop up some leftovers... Today, I had some new potatoes, the rest of his pork sausage, the remainder of a green pepper and a couple of sun dried tomatoes... I quickly fried everything in a little olive oil and butter... About a tsp of both... I then whisked up 6 eggs with seasonings and poured it over.. making sure that the mixture was well distributed over the frying pan.. I cook it on a very low heat... I also put a lid on the pan and that saves me having to flip it upside down or having to put it under the grill to cook the top... I check it after about 5 minutes and if it is almost ready, I turn the heat off (That stops the eggs becoming tough)... It doesn't matter if it takes on a golden brown colour underneath as it is supposed to :) .. The timings can vary as it is dependent on the size of frying pan.. I use the middle size so the frittata is about 1 and a half inches thick... but as soon as you see it is almost set, leave the lid on and switch the heat off.. You can then leave it to get cold and turn it out and cut it like a cake... It is quite lovely and very filling if it has a few potatoes mixed in it.. The only reason I use a little butter and oil is a) to stop it sticking and b) I like the flavour... I don't use any low fat carp... it is always the real thing..

Well, that's about all so have a lovely weekend and if I can pop back on the forum, I will....

    Afternoon

I'm going to declare tomorrow because I've sts all week until today when I was up a pound and I know I haven't eaten badly. If I'm still up tomorrow then so be it, but I declared on Saturday last week so it will be a full week tomorrow. I know it's nothing but it means a lot to me :(

Well done to losers or sts-ers. I wish I never had to gain again but I know I've got the rest of my life like this and some days it's just really really depressing.

Nobody's going to tell you that officeguru, stop hinting :rotfl:

Do they have pan loaves in England, or just here in Scotland? they have very hard black/brown crusts. When I was a child I hated those crusts...if you ate it as bread they were hard and chewy, if it was toast they were so hard they hurt your mouth...

I still recall one day not eating the crusts at breakfast...when I got home from school at 4pm, my mother and grandmother stood over me until I ate those cold crusts, with the threat of no tea if I didn't :(
I'm not saying this was right, but there was definitely no pandering to childrens tastes, you ate what you were given!

    Pollybear...fingers crossed for tomorrow :)

    Hi Ellie,

Are you not meaning 'plain' loaves... ??? Pan loaves were soft but a baby could teethe on the crust of a plain loaf it was that hard.. and if it was toasted, you could chew on it for days !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Where are you in Scotland ???? I could always visit and bring the toblerone :)

I think you may be right OG, I just remember how much I hated them :rotfl:My parents still buy one now and again, gluttons for punishment :rotfl:

I'm in the south, but have no need of toblerone...I have got my chocolate cravings well under control again, after that terrible blip at the beginning of this challenge...no more popping candy chocolate!!! :)

Thank you for all the welcomes :) See, I knew you were all super friendly on this thread!

Knit Witch - What is the weight loss challenge? Do we set our own goal or is there one that everyone is aiming for? What ever it is, let me know and sign me up!!

Another Pratchett fan here as well :D

The challenges are - I set a timescale (generally about three months) and you say how much weight you would like to lose by the end of the challenge (oh and you can jump in at any time - so this weekend plus the rest in the challenge this time make 5 weigh ins), you never need to give your starting weight (unless you want to), and I can take you from this week (especially if you have lost weight :rotfl:)
    Must use my stash up!

Definitely eaten a bit more today!

    B: granola, ss milk
L: large bap with 2 sausages
D: tomato and bacon pasta bake (still not sure how fattening pasta is...uncooked weight, cooked weight? too complicated!)

E: 2 mile walk...have been trying to get back to walking at a normal pace, instead of extra slow...was obviously a mistake today, my back's really sore since :(
Well, my gas has run out, and my feet are getting cold...I think an early night is called for, and maybe the old back will feel a bit better in the morning :)

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Confession time as I've been caught out by YKWYA!!!

Had an individual lemon meringue and cream pie with my afternoon cuppa.

On the other hand I have put the last coat of paint on 5x6 foot fencing panels, deliberately leaving the can of paint on the floor so I did a heck of a lot of stretching and bending!

There are no more cakes in the fridge or larder. Well, not til next Wednesday at the soonest, anyway :o

    Sweet dreams :)
