    Morning All

Happy to declare a 1.5lb loss this week.

Haven’t decided on the meal plan for the day – will go and rummage in the freezer to see what catches my eye and appetite.

Hope you all have a good day.

Steak was gorgeous and I had a treat of a tiny bit of stilton melted on the top as i had been so virtuous all week :):)I also had a huge salad with it and a yoghurt for pud so I am feeling a bit stuffed at the moment .Is it right that sweet potato's are healthier for you than ordinary ones ? some one was talking about them in the greengrocers today when I went to but some bananas.I love SP as I can eat them without any filling I just wondered if they were lower in calories or something

Hi Jackie, I think it's because SP are less starchy so lower in carbs/cals than normal spuds, but I'm not that up on nutrition.

Thank you for all the welcomes :) See, I knew you were all super friendly on this thread!

CCP - Hellooo to a fellow Pratchett fan  I see you are from good old Pompey, so yet another thing we have in common! We moved up here a couple of years ago but my heart is still down in Portsmouth and I miss it like crazy - I visit at every opportunity.

Knit Witch - What is the weight loss challenge? Do we set our own goal or is there one that everyone is aiming for? What ever it is, let me know and sign me up!!

Office Guru - I do feel for you. A few years ago we were in the same place with my MIL. She would throw food in the bin instead of eating it, turn the heating off in winter and try to set a fire in the fireplace instead , most days she had little to no idea who her family were....so upsetting for everyone. Social Services were involved and it took so long and such a fight as she still legally had the ability to make her own decisions and she wanted to stay at home. Eventually the Dr was able to force the issue as she got poorly and had to go to hospital for a short stay, sadly she then forgot where home was so agreed to go to a care home. Seemed an awfully sad way to go about getting the help she needed. I hope that something is sorted to help your family soon.

JackieO - I think that sweet potatoes are considered healthier is because they are lower on the GI index than spuds.

I was so good yesterday (although I didn't get out on the walk I promised myself I would do:o)

B - slice of toast and dry fried mushrooms

L - small bread roll, huge salad and a flavoured tuna pouch thing (no idea what it is called!)

D - Couple of new potatoes, small piece of salmon, runner beans and brussel sprouts! Seems far too early for sprouts, but they were in Morrisons and I am addicted to them so I had to buy some!

S - apple, banana, 4 brazil nuts and handfull of mixed garpes* and blueberries.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

*edit - it was grapes, not garps that I had for a snack. I have no idea what garps are and, frankly, I don't much like the sound of them!

    Morning all.

I seem to be having a weight blip again today as the scales show a one and a half pound gain since this time yesterday (this constant fluctuation drives me mildly insane - it makes it so hard to keep track of how I'm doing :(), so I'm going to go with yesterday's reading of 2lb loss this week. I would like to lose another half a pound or so before I go on holiday next Thursday but I don't know if that will actually happen! :o

B - two slices of cheese bread with butter :o
L - something bought - organisation of packed lunches has abandoned me at the moment :o
D - small amount of pasta with lots of veg (aubergine, shallots, cherry tomatoes, orange pepper) with a small amount of chorizo for flavour

OG - huge hugs to you, and I just wish I could offer something more helpful.
Back after a very long break!

    Morning everyone :)

I have a 1 lb loss this week (which was lost before I decided to eat a little extra, so don't know how that's going yet).

I'm notching the belt on my jeans a half inch further along :D
Only an inch to go to get back to 2010/2011 weight, which is one of my goals.

Tiffany Aching...our current challenge has 4 weeks to go, to the end of September. We weigh in on Friday or Saturday, all you need to do is tell Knit Witch how much you want to lose in those 4 weeks, and post your loss/gain every weekend. The lovely Knit Witch keeps track of us all and posts the list every week...and then we are all smug seeing the total we've all lost together :D

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Well, firstly - and most importantly - well done on pulling that belt tighter and showing the loss. You must feel fantastic:T
TY for explaining about the challenge, I'm definitely joining if it means I get to feel smug! lol

Knit Witch - Please put me down for 7lb! My weigh in day is Saturday.

That's good to know - I'll keep an eye out for you. It shouldn't be hard to spot someone carrying a giant iron frying pan around! ;)

I really, really don't want to write this post :(. For the first time since I can remember, I've gained 1lb . Disgusted with myself, but I've no excuse, I've let the fruit sugar creep back in and done less than half of what I usually do. I could blame my bellows/the weather/etc but really it's a combination of poor eating and lack of exercise. Definitely not feeling smug this week!

    B - F&F (carefully measured 30g) ss milk
    L - egg salad
D - Stir fry duck with noodles
    S - celery, melon
E - 1x10mins done, will do 3/4 more if bellows permit

    Good luck everyone else :)
  • Hi Tiffany and beluga!! :j

Welcome to the thread and good luck with your weight loss plans!!
    Hello

Is it ok to jump in? I've been overweight all my life (I was even a big baby!) and I'm now 43 and fed up of it. A few months ago I decided it was time I took better care of myself and have so far managed to lose 42lb - I still have a long way to go, though.

This seems like a really supportive thread and I am very much in need of support! I don't know anyone in real life that is losing weight and diet clubs are all far too expensive. Struggling to keep on track at the moment as it is feeling like quite a lonely journey so it will be really helpful to talk with people who are also on this walk :)

Hello, is it ok to join? I'm overweight, always have been, but the last few years I've piled it on and it's time to do something about it! I'm quite ashamed of it so don't talk to my friends about weight loss etc, but could use some support and this thread seems lovely.
I could do to lose 5 stones, but atm anything would be welcome! I'm going away for Christmas so I at least need to fit in my summer clothes. I don't like to admit to myself that I'm too fat for most of my wardrobe, so am very limited to what I can wear atm. :(
Food shopping tomorrow so I'll stock up on lots of nice healthy food.
I've weighed myself this morning ( :( ) so at least I know where I'm starting from! x
  • Thanks so much for understanding my non-ice-cream-eating-success, I really appreciate it!

And its nice to be able to say and have people understand!

fozziebeartoo Well done take a large pat on the back.Doesn't it make you feel good when you resist temptation :):):) When I went to bed last night I actually dreamt of a MccyDs strawberry milkshake I swear if I'd been awake I could have almost tasted it It my one thing that I adore thats a take-away, but its definitely off the menu until I have lost at least a stone then I will treat myself to one Hopefully mid October if I can lose it by then.Maybe my urge to drink one will go by then.:):)
Today I am taking my waffle machine and my doughnut making machine to DDs house as I look after my four DGS during the school holidays and I promised them we will make some.I know the temptation will be there to have some but having got almost through this week without giving in I am not going to now
Tonights dinner will be a ribeye steak I have just fished out of the freezer plus a big pile of salad and some organic strawberrys that my DD gave to me last night with plain yogurt on top.I have planned it out this morning, and the steak is in the fridge defrosting.
Breakfast shortly will be cereal and a chopped banana and lunch probably a small jacket spud with some chilli sauce for flavour.I love the Blue dragon dipping sauce on almost anything but dribbled onto a jacket spud it just livens it up a bit.I don't know if its low-cal or not ? but its only a dribble and its got to be better than a dollop of butter :):):)
    I
shall weigh myself on Saturday and I am hoping I have lost a little bit I am feeling quite hollow now ,not hungry but I do feel as though its begining to work.I decided to weigh on a Saturday morning and not keep jumping on the scales as I would only get cheesed off if the scales didn't show a difference.

My aim at the moment is to get into a pair of jeans that I have in the wardrobe by the time I go to visit my brother in France in early October. They are just that bit to 'snug' at the moment so I have around five weeks to lose a bit of my tummy at least.hopefully its doable :):)
Onwards and upwards chums We will do it .

    Fozziebeartoo...well done you :T :T :T

we understand what a big deal it is :D

(last week I did a shop, and apart from 2 pizzas, everything in my trolley was healthy...I felt so smug :rotfl:)

officeguru...what a stressful situation with your in laws...it's awful to have to watch loved ones go downhill, and be limited in what you can do to help. My aunt is almost at the stage of needing to go into a home, but luckily she is still mentally alert (and very annoying with it :)) so she can make that decision herself. Presumably your in laws won't agree to moving? It must be terrible to be old and confused.
  • Congratulations to all losers and stsers and sending great emathy to gainers!

The pound I put on while sticking to 1200 calories a day  has gone......since I started eating full fat greek yog again.....

As my DD's would say......go figure!!

    ;)

    I am plodding away.

Still really trying to get a grip on portions.

Cooked a new dish the other day, greek lamb and macaroni from Easy Food magazine.

It most definitely wasn't low cal or carb, but it was delicious!!

And served on my 8" plate, a small portion was entirely ample......

So really, its a shame I went back and dished up a 2nd, almost as ample portion 10 minutes later ;):o;)

But that has been my one major slip in the last few days

I have refused 2 ice-creams and a picnic bar and a big brekkie in Wetherspoons this week :T:T:T
