    You have something really important to aim for there Jackie. Your health is so important and if your operation depends on weight and fitness that will be a great motivator for you.

    Do you manage to get much exercise? Even if it is only a short walk or some work in the garden, it all helps to burn off the calories. If I'm feeling a bit peckish I try to get up and move around a bit, a couple of trips up and down the stairs or something and that sometimes takes my mind off it. (Unless there is a bag of popcorn lurking around that is...)

    Hi there, I haven't posted on here before but I'd like to join in. You all seem like a friendly bunch. :)

    I'm not seriously overweight but I'd like to get to a weight that I'm comfortable with me being if you know what I mean. I've been away on holiday so there was much eating out, and this weekend I've had two meals out and a Sunday lunch at my mum's which along with bingeing on whole bags of popcorn and a whole box of chocs in two days :o has meant that I'm 6.5lb over where I should be.

    I probably won't post every day, but its nice to read what you are all up to and feel part of a little weight loss community. How does the challenge thing work? I saw on one post that it ends on 30th September so I think 6.5lb should easily be achievable by then (5 weeks) don't you?

    Can you add me to your list of challengers please? What day is weigh-in day?

    Right, off to browse the recipe ideas. I'm looking for a 'healthy' cereal-type bar and any courgette recipes as I have a glut in the garden at the moment. Courgettes seem to be one of the only things I can grow with any degree of success!

    Bye for now!

    Hi and welcome :)

    I usually weigh in on a friday but believe some people WI on a Saturday- Im sure Knit Witch will be along soon to offer some assistance

    River Cottage Everyday cook book has a lovely breakfast bar reciepe- im not good with internet links but im sure if you google it

    Good to see you chickadee and welcome to the challenge :D

    Weigh in is generally any time over the weekend so no problems for any day (or if you weigh in on a Tuesday, say, just let me know and flag that as "1 lb lost - official weigh in" or something :o)

    RE Quorn - check the website but I would say about 75g per portion (thinking about 300g bag of "mince" making 4 portions)

    hello to all the newbies :hello:

    outtawork...who told you to cut out red meat? should that not be a personal choice?

    Not done very well today
    B; granola, ss milk
    L: 2 slices toasted cheese
    D: 4 slices Mr Ts pizza

    I can see this week will be more difficult than usual...DS1 has 2 weeks holidays, and is not going away (he is 6 feet tall, slim and has muscles, he has a six pack :), meaning he can eat about 4 times what I can.) At lunchtime, he said to me "have we got any meat? any bacon? sausages? etc etc"...not out, everything was in the freezer...he had the cheek to say to me "what do you do when you go shopping!" Well...I buy a lot of food for you, but keep it in the freezer until you want it! I'm used to taking something out each day for his evening meal.
    So, it may be harder than normal, having him around eating all day long, makes me think about food more.
    Will take control again tomorrow, less cheese, more veggies!

    I tried to counteract the pizza with a walk to the shops, was quite slow though...was so tired this afternoon I even tried to have a little doze, but the noise of multiple lawnmowers kept me awake :)

    If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

    OH and I have just had a week off work, and we have been a bit lax with the healthy eating, so I had an STS when I weighed in on Friday, but I’m pleased with that as I was expecting to have put on.

    Two of the kit kats that OH had as part of his birthday present, became our lunch while we were at my dad’s last week doing some cleaning and gardening for him, and we also gave him one so only had the last one between us as a treat.

    This weekend was really bad. It started on Friday when, after having a busy day cleaning the windows and curtains (I’m ashamed to admit they haven’t been done for at least 2 years and were filthy, :o so it took most of the day), I didn’t feel like cooking so OH went to chippy for sausage in batter and chips, but hopefully all the cleaning burnt off most of the calories from that and we did share 1 portion of chips instead of having a portion each.

    On Saturday we went out to the carvery for dinner again, as it was OH’s birthday (this time I only had ice cream with oreo sprinkles for dessert, so not quite as bad as the honeycomb sundae I had last time, lol!), followed by coffee cake when we went back to MIL’s for a cup of tea afterwards. On Sunday we went to MIL’s for dinner, so another roast dinner followed by trifle, eton mess and profiteroles with cream, and then we bought a chocolate cake which we had a portion of last night (331 cals per portion!), so I went way over my calorie goal for the week! :eek:

    Back to work tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll get back on track.

    HI all,

    I was here at the beginning of this thread several years ago and am still almost the same weight, I think as we have 3 scales and I seem to have very different weights on each so will pay €2 to use the fancy dancy one in the chemists on Wednesday when I go to knitting group.

    Today I have eaten:

    b. ham salad sandwich;

    L. banana;

    D. roast chicken, steamed swede, potato and butter, no fat cake with blueberries, tea;

    Sn. small bar dark choc with chilli, tea.

    Not great, will have to start having dinner earlier as haven't done much since.

    Good luck all

    Hi Everyone :hello:, mind if I join too?

    I need to lose a lot of weight! around 6 stones actually.

    Last year I went to Slimming World and lost 2 stone, I got fed up with it and regained all the weight and a few more pounds.

    We're going to Portugal over Halloween, so I have an incentive to work towards :)

    This time I want to cut out all the 0% fat yoghurts etc that I was eating and try to eat nice, tasty things that will be more satisfying...but hopefully in smaller amounts.

    Food today:

    B: Didn't feel like cereal or toast, so I had 3 Ryvita with butter.

    L: Ham sandwich.

    D: Bacon & mushroom tagliatelle.

    Also had numerous cups of tea. I will normally be eating more than this, but I was busy today.
