its horrible isn't it,i avoid trying on in shops like the plague for that very reason even if it means having to go back to return items,or ive even gone in not been sure and left as don't want to be feeling horrible ! sizing is horrible,my mum got me a pair of jeans from Sainsburys when had on offer and fit really nicley which doesn't happen often due to my pear shape making them gape at the back. I liked the fit so much and as were only £12 fp thought i would go get another pair(i live in jeans) got them home tried on and didn't fit couldn't even get them all the way up my thighs! Made me feel horrible so feel you anguish i think there should be a standardized sizing system that is properly kept to so at least you know where you are from one shop to even item to the next!

Just my two cents.....DM of mine always refers to some cuts on clothing as "top" or "bottom" of the pile - meaning those that are made with the material on the top of the batch will be the nicer ones, sit right where they should, not bunch, etc.
The ones made with the material on the bottom are the ones that dont fit right or look properly made when you wear them.
Several of my shirts dont fit me properly but its down to the cut and the style of the product rather than the sizing itself.

(although it still fascinates me that I'm a 16-18 in Next and 14-16 everywhere bleeding else! Except Mat-a-lanny where I am 14 14 and oh yes 14. Love that place, lol.)

I don't know my size any more! Shops mess around with sizes to make us feel better. If I get to try something on I take a 14, 16 and 18. It's getting ridiculous isn't it?

'Ello. Please may I rejoin? I have dipped my toe in and out of this thread over the years and think its time I popped back in.

I scratch cook so much of what I eat, eat healthy decent foods but I eat too much. My portion sizes are too big for me so I'm going to try eating as I normally would but cut down on the amount.

Thanks ellie99, I cant say I have given a thought to how much sugar I have......

I dont actually add sugar to anything, but like you, I love my granola and a couple of bits of fruit must have a chunk of sugar too.

And my 500 ml of milk must be

    lol

I'll have a look at MFP properly over the weekend.

It gave me a target of 28 (grams?)...I'm at 51 today, mostly from granola, a lf yoghurt, and milk, and a few from veg in a salad.

Now they're all things I consider fairly healthy, and am happy to include in my diet, so I'm not going to stress over it. I NEED my granola, it makes my insides work properly..sorry if TMI :)

(Maybe I should put in a days menu from before I started to lose weight, that would give me a shock! I wonder how much sugar is in a large bar of popping candy chocolate :rotfl:)

ETA: I couldn't resist looking...a whole bar of my new favourite choc is 1010 calories, and 117g of sugar

Odd couple of days eating for me.

    Weds

    B - granola

    S - nectarine

    L - wasnt hungry

T - chicken wrap with mayo that I had planned to have for lunch. Weighed out 15g of mayo and thought it looked miniscule......but the wrap actually tasted fatty with mayo :(

    S - nectarine

    500ml milk

    Came in at 1015 calories

    Thurs

Had an opticians appointment 1st thing so no time for brekkie

L - in a farm shop tea room, OH had a free range sausage bagette with red onions and a portion of chips - of which I had 1/3 of the bagette and 1/2 the chips and a few crisps.

S - little tub of farm made clotted cream ice cream

    S - packet of Special K crisps

T - HM chicken stroganoff (SW style and totally gorgeous) and tagliatelle

    S - Enigma Cornetto

    500ml milk

So at least 2000 calories yesterday!!

Of course if I average the 2 days then I am pretty close to my target of 1400 to 1600 calories a day! ;)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

As expected I've STS this week (well, actually I've lost a tiny amount but it's less than half a pound so not recordable). I've got three weeks less a day until I go on holiday and would like to lose another 2 1/2 pounds by then, which should be do-able as long as I don't go mad like I did last weekend. :o

The milk discussion is really interesting for me - I struggle to get through a pint bottle before it goes off - I've tried freezing half but I sometimes can't use even half a pint of milk that quickly! I drink my coffee black which is obviously why I use so little compared to most people!

I agree there should be standard sizing for clothes - maybe we should start a campaign? ;)

Anyway, today for me will be:

B - small portion of instant porridge with chopped nectarine
L - sandwich (don't know what as I'll have to buy one :o); cucumber sticks; small pack RC pretzels
D - plaice fillet (floured and shallow fried in the weeniest amount of oil I can get away with) with steamed green veg; RM summer pudding with some extra fruit and a small spoonful of honey yoghurt. And a couple of glasses of wine, because it's Friday and it's raining.

Well done to everyone who's lost so far, and best of luck with the weigh-in to everyone else!
Back after a very long break!

  woo-hoo, dancing around the bathroom naked this morning

I have dropped 2 lbs since yesterday!

So that's a 2 lb loss, and one of those pounds is a VIP (a Very Important Pound)...that is, the pound which drops me down into the next stone, and means I'm no longer obese, I'm just overweight :D

I'm never going back up to 13st again!
Now...to try and keep it off over the weekend...

I'd vote for a standardized sizing system! (although I thought we were already meant to have one? it's the shops who mess it up!)

Hadn't thought of that, I don't really add sugar to things either(except porridge :o), it's all the hidden stuff.
And I found milk wasn't as high cal as I'd imagined.

Good luck everyone still to WI.
