recoveringspendaholic...it would be more unusual if you DIDN'T have a comfort eating session, totally understandable...stay positive!
officeguru...home made jeans, I'm MEGA impressedI used to make clothes without a pattern when I was a teenager, and I would never have attempted jeans!
sparrer...interestingidea with the milk, I wonder if DS1 would notice, he's very particular about his cereal :rotfl:
Have eaten too much today, it's very difficult to stick to 1200 calories. I need to find something really low calorie for lunch, I usually have toast or sandwiches, and it's not leaving me enough for evening.
Well DS2 has just phoned to say he'll be round at 6am again tomorrow morning, so best get off to bed (no exciting reason, just car repairs and collecting parts, and that's when he happens to be passing)
Raining heavily here, hope it's dry for theatregirls BBQ!
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Thanks for all your kind words.
Well the butternut squash pasta cheese bake thing smelt and looked lovely but tasted a bit vile - it had a weird texture and a funny taste - didn't like it at all! Waste of a BNS and pasta!
DD and I didn't like it so we ended up having bacon sandwich for tea, followed by a slice of hm blueberry cake (hairy bikers recipe and very yummy)
DD2 (15) is in the US at the moment staying with my friend who lives in the mid west. She is having a ball and my friend keeps saying that I should move over there and open an olde english tea shoppe! I am really tempted as a four bedroomed, three bathroom, detatched house with air conditioning and about an acre of garden would cost me about £75 - £100k - hard to believe!! Oh well I can dream.
When I was in Tesco before they had some kosher noodles so tomorrow I am going to make some hm chicken noodle soup for lunch as I really need to get back to healthy eating!!
Hope you had a good barbecue Theatregirl!Jane

Thanks, will do my weigh ins Friday then:-).
Went to look at a focus today, and have got that all things being well, was looking at some thing slightly smaller but family has convinced me i should go for something a tad bigger,as i will want the boot space and extra leg room for boys as they get bigger (3yrs & nearly 5) esp after having the galaxy for so long. Looking forward to having a car back as forgot in a rural town how hard it can be,with two manic boys :-)
Went to a local farm today, with a friend and children and have to say between not having time to have breakfast,to viewing car over dinner i have not eaten well esp when local icecream that boys had to have so of course had to try some too! (i know bad me!) lots of work tommorw!
so sorry to hear about heart problems hope they are able to do the less invasive option for you.

Recovering Spendaholic - hope you get it sorted very quickly and in the way you want x
Comfort eating this morning - bowl of cereal with full fat milk, 3 midi scotch eggs and a handful of nuts. Just about my allowance for the whole day. Waiting on exam results for DS but it is not life or death so why bother? I have just put myself back to bed for an hour or so and out of harms way as the kitchen is downstairs and quite a trek for me:oI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

What a shame! I won't be trying that recipe, then, and will have to find another use for my ever-growing stockpile of BNSs - any ideas, anyone?
I wasn't very good at dinner time yesterday: the cheesy pudding wasn't exactly a low-cal option, and I made it worse by eating an extra slice and serving it with some LO chilli rather than opening a tin of baked beans. I look set for a STS tomorrow, and no wonder - my good days have been far outweighed by bad ones this week!
Today goes:
B - last of the walnut bread with mashed banana (a largish portion, but I was feeling unusually hungry)
L - last of the LO chilli; nectarine
D - stirfried veg with Thai curry paste and a couple of slices of smoked tofu, plus a small handful of rice noodles if I feel I need them
Best of luck today, everyone!Back after a very long break!0 -

RS I'm so sorry to hear your news, but can you turn it round into a positive? What if, instead of dying on the op table and you've spent the last few months dieting, you got to the hospital for the op and the anaethsetist said 'sorry but you have to lose weight before I can go ahead'? You're doing what is good for your body (okay, forget the rare blip like Greggs, we all have those) you do what you know is right because you want to, otherwise you wouldn't be here on this forum. Op's are scary things when you're faced with news like that and know little about it, you need ask questions. The consultant will be only too pleased to tell you what you want to know, and probably a lot more you didn't think of, to put your mind at rest. Instead of thinking of the worst possible scenario think about how much it will change your life for the better. Here endeth the lesson
PS the steak bake sounds yummy!
Weighing in today as the comp is off to the techie hospital this evening. Whatever am I going to do for a week or so without it? I'll get withdrawal symptoms!
Pleased to report a 1lb loss, though goodness knows how I managed that!
B - Orange
D - chicken salad. Apple
T - 3 crackerbread with peanut butter/Vegemite/Brie (last of, boo hoo)
S - veg batons, melon, nana
E - ironing, 'playing' with my new-ish steam cleaner
Good luck everyone for tomorrow0 -

Hi RS, I hope things get sorted out for you soon.. I think if I had got your news, I would have got wellied into the food... I hope things get sorted out quickly.... We are all thinking of you
I read late last night your recipe for the cheese bake and, if I had had the car this morning, I would have went and bought a squash... but I am so glad I didn't as I then read your post that it wasn't all you hoped it would be...PS the steak bake sounds yummy!
They are !!! I haven't had one since before Christmas.... and well done on your weight loss...
I'll also miss reading your posts if you are incommunicado for a week... so hurry back online ...:)0 -
Hi Ellie,
To be honest, I had never made jeans before but as I hardly get out and going into busy shops is a no-no for me... I was getting a bit desperate for clothes.. I have tried buying online, but the sizes range so much, that I find it difficult to get something I like that fits... so one day, when the local area was on holiday, my betterhalf took me and I bought 4 loads of denim (different weights) and a pattern... (which I am not impressed with)...
I, like you, have made clothes in the past, so I was a bit apprehensive about doing this but then I bit the bullet and got started.. I thought, it can't be that difficult.. I know that I can't do the really heavy topstitching as I have a domestic machine, so I just do what I can.. I had never done a flat felled seam before but it is easier than you think but I would avoid unpicking it as that would present problems .. but I am enjoying embroidering the pockets (I picked giraffes this time).. It's also stopping me thinking of food... I've been on steroids so it's a battle to stop myself from eating...
I think I might have put on weight this week due to the steroids and the munchie attacks but, hopefully, it won't be too much...
It's drizzly here today, so I don't have to spend hours watering the garden... so you can all think of me with my head down at my sewing machine... :beer:0 -
Oh RS, sorry to hear your news
really hope all goes well and you make a speedy recovery.
