Thank you also from me to everyone who said about the devil mats :rotfl: They are still up and folded underneath a chair in the conservatory, and they will stay there at least until the end of the month!
DM getting better slowly, she can walk now with the aid of just one stick, her knee keeps locking a little but she's in good spirits so thats the main thing.
Popped to post office and corner shop for a few bits today, dont really need to do any major shopping this month as we'll be away abroad in 3 1/2 weeks so just doing top ups until then. Plenty in the freezer to use
Last night I ordered myself a 10 minute solution DVD (THIS ONE).
I've been reading on the MFP forums about all the successes people are having from workout DVDs, havent done it myself for a LOOOOONG time so figure I'll start it up again. I really need to get rid of my tummy, its starting to revolt me and DM's starting commenting on it which is a baaaad thing (trust me).
Anyway off to TGIs with a friend tonight, few drinks and a fair bit of food, dont know how good I can be but we'll see in time
b - cheese on 2 small slices toast
l - bagel with pepperoni, ham, cheese spread, salad. bag of crisps. 4 x choccy digestives
d - out at resto so not sure yet.:A

Let us know what you think of the dvd theatregirl, improving my arms would be nice
Very impressive loss officeguru...as someone who hasn't lost ONE stone this year, I'm going green...:rotfl:
I've had a quite depressing day...went into town (in the rain) to buy a new kettle...yes, my life is that exciting... I got waylaid by the 70% off sale...so after going up and down the shop looking for an assistant to unlock the changing rooms, I tried on 2 really nice dresses (why, I don't know, I wear jeans all the time) They were the same size as the clothes I was wearing, but they looked awful, I looked like a bag of spanners...what's that saying? I think it's something like "she looked like she'd been poured into her clothes, and had forgotten to say when" ...well that was me today, thank goodness they weren't communal changing rooms :rotfl:It's only 2 years since I used to actually enjoy clothes shopping!
I also went into a shop which is advertising for an assistant manager, to ask about the hours, and had a quick chat with the manager. I'm sure I could do the job, but I don't know whether I should apply...in the time it took to look round the shop, and chat, my back was hurting, in fact by the time I'd picked up the kettle, I had to drag myself back to the car, it's aching like mad. I really didn't want to ask how much of her day was spent sitting down (on the computer etc) because I thought it would look bad, but I wish I'd asked now, because I don't know if it's worth applying.
I'm finding it very difficult finding work I can physically do, ideally it would be an office job, but there's not many of them around, and I mostly don't get interviews (my age maybe?). I don't claim benefits, so no help there, and luckily I don't think I'm bad enough to be thinking about disability benefits, so it's just a case of keep looking...it's surprising how many jobs AREN'T sitting down when you're looking.
So that has made me more determined to lose weight...I bought some kitchen scales so I can weigh food if I need to know the calorie count, and I'm definitely going to keep below the 1200 mfp told me.
Today so far has been granola, milk, and 2 slices toast. Tonight will be battered fish from the freezer with veg, and a yoghurt if enough cals left.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

Hi again, everyone...
Thanks for your kind words, savesummore and ellie ...
I would just like to say that this is the first time I have successfully lost weight... Normally, I would have started munching before the end of the first week.... or definitely by the end of the fortnight... depending on the willpower at the time...
I have been on every diet possible ... from starvation to substitute meals... and, at last, I have realised they just don't work.... What works is to eat what you know you will enjoy for the rest of your life, rather than just until you have lost the weight... How many of us have ended up heavier than we started ???? I mean, I am stones heavier than I started... It has been a gradual build up of fat for most of my life.. I have blamed everything, from stopping smoking to an envelope dropping through the letterbox... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
For me, it was to stop believing the hype, the excuses, the fad diets, the funny foods.... You know what I mean ... the low fat that is laden with sugar... the special diet foods that have more calories than the regular equivalent. I do have the advantage that I have only my husband and myself to cook for and the time to cook lovely meals so it is worth sitting down for... I know this is not so easy to do when there are kids involved, and, of course, the monetary considerations.. and the time taken to make the meals...
As you know, I only eat one meal a day unless I am hungry..but I don't know what else to say.. except that I am plodding on and only slipping up now and again... but I will be slim for the first time in my life.. I have got to make my life worth living.. I want to be as fit as I can be as I am now over 60 and I don't particularly want to be boxed earlier due to being grossly overweight.. so come on, ladies keep me on the straight and narrow as I have many stones still to go... I am determined to go from obese, to overweight to normal...
Ellie, I don't think you should try for that job as shop managers, assistants etc are on their feet for most of the day... I think it would cripple your back a job like that.. I know because my mother had several businesses and I had to work for her.. Most of the time, I was standing serving or helping... but I was a teenager then... I also owned a restaurant and a pub (not at the same time) and that involved a great deal of standing... even though I had staff to help me.. I think if you are bothered with your back, it would be better if it was an office job.. because you would be more sitting than standing...
I wish you well in your search for a job...There will be something out there for you...
Well, that's about it for another day...
Good night all....0 -
Well turns out I can be reasonably good after all when I go out for a meal with a friend!
My friend is currently taking these meds so she was off the alcohol and will be for another month yet. So I was nice and stayed off the alcohol too, instead had this lovely frozen crushed ice drink, Ocean Freeze I think they called it, which is apple juice, citrus and soda. So nice I had two of them with my dinner, which was Wicked Cajun Chicken - chicken with JD glaze and rice, two smallish corn on the cob pieces and some other salad.
Didnt have dessert, (the fudge cake I was looking at was 800+ cals!) but went to the pub instead and had 2 x mugs of hot chocolate (friend had tea) and we had a good old gossip.
Then when I got home I had about 6 chocolate biscuits.
Out of the things discussed, we're batting around the idea of going speed dating in London about October time - so I have 6 weeks to get rid of my tummy and sort my life/diet out! :rotfl:0 -
Good Morning chums ,well I have been doing quite well the past few days slight hiccup on Sunday evening as I eat at my DDs and her OH makes the most delicious roasties, but I did limit myself to three and piled on the veg
:) No bread since the other day when I had a slice with baked beans on In fact I haven't got any bread in the house now and I'm trying to keep it that way.Last night was a huge salad with a jacket sweet potato.I have to use the veg up as I'm away this Saturday on my fortnights holidays with the family.so everything fresh is being used up.but luckily there is little left now thats not low calorie in the fridge.Tonight I am off to the pub quiz night but I don't have anything alcoholic there anyway as I drive to the pub.Lime and soda with ice is fine for me.
I have also cut out biscuits and cake completely and to be honest i really haven't missed it yesterday for breakfast i had bran flakes and a banana with skimmed milk and lunch was a mushroom ommelette (had to use up the mushrooms)
This morning I shall have
B: porridge made with water and skimmed milk
L : tin of Tuscan bean soup that I found at the back of the cupboardegg salad (use up the last of the salad)
Gallons of iced water and I have cut out snacks as I can live without them.As I said I am totally motivated to losing this heavy load that I have been hauling around for the past few years. The only thing I have noticed is I seem to have a slight headache most of the time, and wondered if it was the change of diet.its not something i suffer from normally and I hate taking tabelts .Perhaps I should up my water intake maybe its dehydration.Though I seem to be drinking enough water to float the Titanic:)
Oh well onwards and upwards I shall weigh myself on Friday morning and see if I have lost anything (fingers crossed)
Cheers chums keep up the good work everyone0 -
Morning, unfortunately I didnt do too well yesterday, some family came over and we had bolognaise and cake!! Struggling already this morning, really want to eat biscuits but I really mustnt! Will update what I've eaten later.0

Morning all.
I'm feeling quite pleased with myself this morning as I put on a t-shirt I bought a couple of months ago and haven't worn as it was too tight, and it now fits.
That makes me feel rather better after a blip last night when I decided I fancied a glass of wine with my dinner then, as the bottle was open, had another glass as well.I'm feeling in a serious holiday mood, having just booked a trip away, but I must get over it as I'm not going until this time next month!
B - white bread roll with half an avocado and a few small slices of gruyere cheese
L - LO paella; small bunch of grapes
D - leek and cheese quichelet; HG French beans with tomatoes and onions
I'm going out this evening but will try to stick to soft drinks, or a white wine spritzer if I really mustBack after a very long break!0 -
theatregirl...800+ cals for a dessert??? good grief
Well done for refusing it (though 6 choc biscuits later might be close to the same cals :rotfl:)
And 6 weeks to sort your life out? no problem!
officeguru...you sound like you have your life/diet sorted as well...it's great that it's fallen into place for you, and that you KNOW you're going to get to your target weight. That conviction will really help you to keep going.
Do you not have breakfast? If you're only eating once a day, what time of day do you usually eat? Just being nosey...I think I'd get over hungry doing that, and then overeat at my meal
Sadly, I think you're right re the job...what I *want* to do and what I physically *can* do are very different things
savesummore...will pm you
I don't know quite how to say this...but...we have a birthday and...maybe just whisper it...I'm making cake today...chocolate cake with butter icing (hope daisieggs not listening)
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
TG speed dating sounds great fun, they should have a similar event for us olds, but call it snail dating - the speed would only confuse us :rotfl:
Jackie I've cut out (some) tea, and like you am drinking loads of water from the fridge lately. Only trouble is I now have to get up in the night which I've never done before. I know water is good for you but I do hate my sleep being interrupted
Missed yesterday as comp is really poorly now but on the bright side my lovely DGS3, the family comp boff, is going to sort it for me.
I had
B - banana
L - Korma, naan, cream slice(very tiny, 2 in a pack, ys to 50p. What's a girl to do when she sees such a bargain?!)
T - 2 slices WW wm with brie
S - celery, carrots, melon
E - minimal, just housework/ironing
Today -
B - F&F, sk milk
L - 3 crackerbread with brie/vegemite/peanut butter
