I'm off to visit my friend in Geneva v early tomorrow morning so staying in a hotel near Heathrow tonight. So I won't be weighing in this week. Hopefully the weekend won't be too bad for the diet though; I anticipate lots of walking and I know my friend is planning to cook rather than us eating out due to my allergies, and she is one of life's skinny people so I'm sure she'll serve up sensible portions of healthy food. She doesn't really drink either so there won't be all the booze calories I usually have at the weekend.
I know I've been joking around all week but I am feeling pretty sh*t actually. Just feel like it is so much harder since the wedding to lose any weight and am still gutted that I gained so much after the wedding. I know I would have gained some anyway through relaxing generally but I'm sure some of it at least is down to the broken foot and being very immobile. Even now I am still not allowed to exercise on it and it still hurts if walking or standing for too long. It feels so frustrating that even if I have a 'good' week I am barely losing a lb in a week, so I just get annoyed and sabotage myself (cake and pasta!).
I think I will just be fat forever.
//end 'woe is me' rant from Daisie, who after all has no one but herself to blame!0 -
Ok, so not weighing in this week is totally cowardly - there is no reason why I can't do it today instead.
Shockingly it is actually only +0.5. I say 'only' because it's been on +2 all week ( I still weigh every morning just to keep track). It probably helps that I had no dinner last night, just 2 small cakes. Cake for dinner sounds bad but is probably fewer calories than a proper meal!
Come on woman, pull yourself together. No reason why I can't get properly back on track and do this thing!0 -
Have a great weekend Daisie!Must use my stash up!0

Got it back
Stay cool and enjoy the weather
Humph! You certainly did take it back
Cool and rainy here today, not nice at all.
Daisiegg...enjoy your weekend away, and put losing weight to the back of your mind. Wait until you're home again, and then rethink your next move. It's frustrating, but your foot will recover eventually, and you'll be able to exercise again. I know how disheartening it can be...I've tried all week...no cake, no snacks, no takeaway, often feeling like I could eat more than I've had...and I've lost nothing so far.
It's horrible to be constantly aware of not overeating, but seeing no results. All we can do is keep trying, and assume that eventually a few pounds will come off.
BTW, I watched a TV programme about women losing weight to try and reverse diabetes last night...the pictures they showed (especially the one of the foot with no toes) were shocking. A real wake up call on why you REALLY don't want diabetes, and the best way to avoid it is being the correct weight. I had hoped they were going to give some insight into the sort of diet to follow, but they didn't, basically it was just "lose weight".
They said if a woman's waist was more than 31 inches, she should be tested for diabetes...makes you think, I really don't want this disease!
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Hi Daisiegg,
I was going to wish you well on your trip to Geneva, but I have decided not to as you went and posted not just a recipe, but a photo too of little delicious looking cakes
Since seeing the photo, my life is slowly being sucked out of me as I am now dreaming cake..... thinking of cake and I am fighting my impulses to go through and bake said cakes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oh well, I think I'll go and feed the chickens instead... but I can't be that nasty and not wish you well.... so have a good time
Today, I am going to cook 'bone-in pork loin' ... This is preferable to pork loin as it tends to be dry and tasteless and the bones keep the meat succulent and adds flavour...
So I am going to take the meat off the bone following the curve of the bone.. I am then going to slice through the centre of the eye (loin) stopping an inch short of going right through. I am then going to open up the butterflied meat and spread on rosemary paste (mix of garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper and a tblsp of olive oil- churned in the whizzer thingy) leaving some paste to be spread onto the bones... Close the loin back up, replace it onto the bones and then tie with string so that everything looks like the original roast -- pop into the oven and baste every 20 mins.. You could make up any paste to go into the butterflied meat and between the meat and the bones... sometimes I use lavender... or thyme.... I suppose you could use spinach ....
I hope everyone has a good day... and good luck for the weigh-in!0 -

(ps: hide the cake)
Ahh I didn't know that's where you were! I have a few friends round there in Datchet and Staines. My flight is at 6.40am(!) tomorrow and we were going to drive in the morning (we live just over an hour away if traffic is ok) but I started having a big panic when I looked at how bad the overnight roadworks are on the M25 at the moment and didn't really want to be leaving at 3am so booked a hotel last minute. Although he is not coming to Geneva with me my lovely husband is coming to stay in the hotel with me tonight and then drive with me to the airport, help me park the car and see me through check-in... :rotfl: no I am not completely incapable but just having a slight wobble as it's been about 5 years since I've travelled anywhere alone! He goes away without me all the time but I never do!
How was the theatre, TG?0 -
