    Good evening

Well as planned we took our middle DD out for her 7th B'day to P*zza H*t for a treat as it was in Merry Hill, with her fave toy shop close to spend her money :D I knew this was coming but we all deserve a treat now and then !

    So :
Breakfast : cheerios + ss milk
Lunch: 3 small slices pizza (170 cals each) + side salad, + 2 slices cheesey garlic bread + 1 chicken goujon and a few potato wedges with bbq sauce. Oh and a latte ;)

This was dinner (nothing) too as I am still full from all that and feel a bit like a naughty schoolgirl..haha but I am still under my total calories today so hopefully no harm done and my DD really had a good time. Did have a small slice of Birthday cake too :o when we got home.

Drinks tonight are water as usual.

Snow was about 4" yesterday, was still there when we went out but has thawed a bit and will mostly be gone before the school run tomorrow.

    Have a good evening
    DC xx

Good evening and I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend so far.

Weigh in day for me and STS this week which is dissapointing but not unexpected. Lots of healthy food being delivered this week though and lots of nights at the gym planned so hopefully next week will be better. I just need to get better at saying no!

On a brighter note, I'm just back from my night away in Peebles and had a fabulous time. Went to the spa and had room service dinner! Was just what I needed.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week. xxx

Isn't it strange that I never hanker after sweet things but right now I have a yen for a bar of chocolate. And isn't it lucky that it's dark, slippery underfoot (and tyre) and the shops are all shut anyway. Ah well, I'll just have to have a rice cake with a hint of marmalade, maybe that will cure my 'sweet tooth' :undecided

    Night night :)
  • Have had a pretty good weekend :) have managed to not go too overboard.

Did treat myself to a couple of truffles and a hot chocolate when got in this afternoon... had walked 6.5 miles in the snow so think I probs have enough kcals spare!!

Fuddle - understand why you want to go class for some support, I know I've been to nearly all the ones on offer!! Have you thought about looking at Rosemary Conelly?? The portion pots are really helpfull for helping measure things out. The talks are always pretty motivational and you get an excercise class too so it works out pretty good value for money. I did it for 5 months before I joined here. I've found that with what I learnt at class and the support I get here I'm managing to loose the weight I've been trying to shift for ages.

Good luch for the next week everyone

I don't think it matters what you do to try to lose weight, it all starts, (and finishes) in your head. If you are motivated you'll succeed, but when the motivation flags, as it's bound to at times, all hell lets loose.

    Sigh.....

Today Br. Handful of All Bran and few raisins.

Lunch: 1 rasher of belly pork, 1 roastie + carrots, sprouts, cabbage, shallots and parsnip.

Tea: 1 small cheese and lettuce sandwich.

Keeping body and soul together - I HM lemon curd tart.

Morning all, I am back! 2lb heavier :o ... but I really enjoyed all the food and booze so it was totally worth it and now I won't feel too bad when I deprive myself for the next week or two!

Off to catch up and post the list, hope you've all been doing your best, unlike me ;)

All caught up now, blimey, I go away for a few days and you all get in a right state!
Fuddle - I'm not going to beg you to stay, I'm not going to say your Doctor is an idiot for recommending WW, I'm not going to tell you to get a grip and get on with it, I am just going to say this...
Weight loss is not 'easy', paying someone to help you will only work if YOU have the motivation in the first place. You would learn more from buying a few decent books or researching healthy eating online (the NHS website is actually quite good) but at the end of the day it's pretty basic... eat more fruit and veg, eat less fat, eat less sugar, have smaller portions, take more exercise... - from my experience at WW they don't really teach you anything other than how to eat loads of rubbish filled with sweeteners instead of proper food. The support you get here is much more than you will get at a meeting, you don't get one-to-one time from what I remember and the only 'advice' tends to be in little booklets and totally lost in all the POINTS rubbish...

But it's your choice... maybe try it for a week or two and see what you think, I'm not going to rant about it any longer.

Daska - I have being low carbing myself recently, I think in general we eat far too much sugar and bread and a lot of us to have carb addictions and insulin resistance. I see no problem with incorporating low carb in Old Style, as long as you don't go crazy with it. Atkins and south beach etc are all extreme diets designed to get you to lose a lot of weight quickly, when I say low carb I just mean cutting down on sugar and not having as much bread/pasta as I used to. Not cutting out fruit, some veg etc just because they are quite high GI (that's only really important if you are diabetic or in need of severely controlling you insulin levels).
What most people forget is that SUGAR = CARBS. Low carbing for me is more about having less sugar, because I want to break my dependence on it. Things like bread and pasta raise your blood sugar so cause sugar cravings - that doesn't mean you need to cut them out completely, just have them in moderation and combine them with protein/fibre to dampen the effects of the sugars.

Please don't feel you are not welcome here just because you have a different approach, some people are doing 'low fat', some are doing 'calorie counting', some are really focusing on smaller portions... we all have the same goals and these differences just bring more tips and experience to share and benefit the rest of us.
JBD rightly points out that there are threads on this forum specifically for WW and SW (and if you are doing those that's where you will get the best support), Fad/Crash diets are not old style as you can't follow them forever and they don't teach you about healthy eating... but for the rest of us, I think our diversity and different approaches is our strength as we are all learning from each other. There is no RIGHT way to do this, just the way that works for you...

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
