Fuddle I 100% agree with Pitlanepiglet. WW/SW are fine for a quick fix but certainly not a long term solution. I lost 2 1/2 st with SW and put it all back on, plus some. Now I'm averaging 1/2lb a week (that's 2st a year!) here, am eating well, don't have to count points etc and have a treat day weekly, ie today I will have egg and hm wedges for tea.
I have a super frying pan which never gets washed up and I always dry fry in, the wedges are parboiled, put on an oven tray, sprinkled with an oxo cube and basically roasted in the oven. With a little thought it's easy to turn anything into a healthy meal.
Exercise as you know it is impossible for me but I do what I can in my own fashion, it must be working cos I've dropped a dress size!
I don't think all GP's are au fait with all methods of weight loss, I don't think suggesting WW/SW is really the best advice, but I'm not a GP so can't say what is.
Whatever you decide I wish you luck, don't stay away but come and let us know what/how you're doing. I'll get off my soapbox now
B - F&F, ss milk
D - chicken casserole
T - Egg & hm wedges
Snacks - pineapple, grapes, grapefruiy, apple
Exercise 1/2 hour pulm, cleaned bedroom

Afternoon All,
Fuddle I agree with previous posters. I lost over 3 and a half stone last year without following any special diet or going to any special clubs. I did count calories but just looked stuff up on the internet if I wasn't sure of calorie content and rounded it all to the nearest 10 calories anyhow.
No snow here yet despite all the dire predictions.
B: Milky coffee (had a long lie in so didn't want to eat too near lunch time).
L: Minced beef (padded out with mushrooms, lentils, spinach and oats), rice and peas. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
T: (packed up to take to work). HM celery soup with slice of HM granary bread. Clementine.
Snacks: 1/2 small bar of dark chocolate. 1/3 of crust of HM granary bread with HM butter.
Exercise: Just a quick walk to work today nothing else as am having a rest day.

Fuddle don't give up on doing this on here. Everyone I know who has done SW or WW has lost weight then put it straight back on...so what did that teach them about portions and what to eat all that time?
This is more fun and cheaper
Breakfast: Bowl of cheerios + ss milk
Lunch: Broccoli & Cauli cupasoup + bread to dip
Dinner: HM chicken goujons , breaded & cooked in oven + cheese & onion rissotto. Dessert: LF strawb yog
Drinks: water
Has snowed here since 1pm but the wind is getting up and we have about an inch I think. Will see if it's still here tomorrow.

fuddle-why can't you stay here ? I don't understand that. At least you will get some more support. Daska -I too have a carb and sugar addiction. If you google jason vale or juicemaster -you will get some juice recipes/ salads and soups. Been doing that for 3 days and definitely my carb addiction has come right down from a 10 to about a one right now.
I'm waiting for linda lazirides waterfall diet book to arrive -just n case that's my problem-although don't think it is.0 -
Fuddle, I agree with everyone else. As I said above, I've asked the doctors about weight loss a few times. We get whichever Dr is free when we call for an appointment so I've had a different one each time. The first Dr weighed me, said I looked fine (my BMI is well into the 30s!) then muttered that if I really wanted to then people usually do better in slimming groups like SW.
The second Dr said I should try a low fat diet and the third and most recent Dr tried hard to get me to take Orlistat (a fat binding drug which gives some people 'leakage' and very sudden diarrhea), though I told her several times that I do a job where I often can't get to a toilet for a few hours at a time. They were all well intentioned but they really aren't experts in weight loss.
Besides, can't you continue to post here if you talk about your weight loss generally, and avoid WW specific aspects, f you see what I mean. You could do an 'old style' version of WW.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Fuddle: I'll throw my hat into the ring and agree 100% with all the others. Dear heart, I have now been dieting more or less continuously for the last 56 years. There's not a slimming club or crazy diet I haven't tried. Oh yes there is. LighterLife. The cost made it out of bounds for me and I'm that grateful. Apart from the 'Bird of a feather' I have known 5 people go on that diet. They all lost shed loads of weight in no time flat and put it all back on (and more) just as fast.
Now I don't deny myself anything but eat only very small portions. All my meals are eaten from tea plates and if I want a snack I cut it in half. I eat very, very slowly and the weight is coming off very, very slowly, but it IS coming off. I don't feel deprived so I don't binge any more.
Do stay posting on here, we all need all the help and support we can get. Do try WW if it keeps your doctor happy, and who knows - it might be the answer for you. We all get there in different ways. Good luck.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Is that the 7lb in 7 days? I'm just looking at the 'Highly Recommended' list for diabetes: "Cabbage, avocado, spinach, udos oil. Use a higher proportion of vegetables and moderate amounts of sweet fruit (like apple and pineapple). Pears, as they contain levulose - a fruit sugar more easily tolerated by people with diabetes. Increase exercise." Well the exercise is out for a start LOL and the thought of cabbage juice makes me want to heave. Guess that leaves avocado and pear, really not sure about adding fruit in at the moment though, I'll read up a bit more on the pears first. What have you been trying?
Took a sneaky peek at the scales today and discovered I'm 3lb down - but that'll be mainly water.
Todays sins
scrambled eggs with cream
savoy cabbage leaves stuffed with tuna mayonaise, shallot and capers
thai(ish) green chicken - cream and coconut oil rather than milk to keep the carbs down and spinach, peas and mushrooms for bulk
small handful of pistachios
ditto salted almondsEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
48 down, 22 to go
Low carb, low oxalate Primal + dairy

That's how I feel, I have 1450 calories in a day and I get them anyway I please! Now the reality is that I like eating so it makes sense to eat foods that are naturally lower in fat and calories so that I can eat more! Using an online counter also works for me as it shows exercise calories so if I want to eat more it is clear to me that I need to get of the sofa and do something!
I can eat and drink whatever I like, and I do but staying within my calories, it was our wedding anniversary on Friday and I wanted to be able to drink (gave up in January) so I avoided my normal snacks in the day, planned a seafood meal which was a lovely treat but lower in calories than say steak. I managed to drink a bottle of Cava and only be 100 calories over and if I'd managed to walk during the day I'd have balanced that but I couldn't get out at lunch time. The consequence was that I didn't feel hard done by or deprived or that I'd failed (just a bit hung over!). I'd been down on calories on a couple of days during the week which will balance the 100. Pre this approach on SW I'd have just dropped if the wagon.
I'd got really confused by food, I couldn't work out whether carbs were good or bad, how bad is fat and so on, now if I want to have something I can but it has to come out of my allowance so I make better choices.
Sorry that is long!Piglet

7lbs to go by Easter - I don't get chance to log on often but when I do I love reading everyone's meal plans it gives me some great ideas and inspiration.
Thanks all
