    Morning everyone :)

I myself know a girl I worked with about 5 years ago, loose all her weight and then some on weight watchers and now she's bigger than she was when I worked with her. So I've seen it myself.

I'm not going to keep my doctor happy, to be honest it didn't seem to bother im, my weigth. I don't look too over weight, I don't. Everything is in proportion. I am worried though because when ragz brought it home that I am a size 16 in my early 30's... would I be a size 20 in my early 40's if I carry on.

I went to the doc's for help with education about healthy eating, about portion control etc. That didn't work out. He also mentioned slimming world but I know that that's an 'easy' diet and you can eat in abundance certain things..... what is that going to teach me? So i'm plumming for weight watchers - not for a crash diet, not for a quick fix but for the education side of it. I have to weigh everything, make correct choices and keep within a certain amount of points and I get face to face time with someone (I would have liked it to be a nurse but again, it wasn't going to work out) and I have to be accountable for any gains etc.

No, it's not ideal and it's not what I wanted but I will learn about food this way. Going along on my own will never help me understand food because I was filling my calories amounts with part rubbishy foods daily. I know many of you don't agree with what I'm doing, and to a point I'm not happy about it myself, but I'm looking at it from a complete different view from the weight watchers point of view or the general attitude to their normal clientèle... I just want to learn about food and lose weight gradually. When get an idea of what it is I'm supposed to be doing, learn about portions and healthy food choices I will say t'ra to weight watchers and go it alone again, with confidence and knowledge.

Hope I haven't offended you all. I just have to do what I feel right and I haven't the confidence to do this on my own right now - and I need to begin the journey now rather than later. I'll be back though, if you'll have me - being tainted goods and all ;) thanks friends :) x

Morning Fuddle, WW doesn't work for me but if it's what feels right for you, then you should go with it. We all know ourselves best at the end of the day.

It's not so much that I don't agree, it just sounded as if you were being pressured into it and weren't happy with the idea yourself. :o

I know a couple of people who have gone to WW and kept the weight off, so it can be done. I wish you lots of good luck. :)

ok, I don't want to come across as the 'forum police' but
Lisadenton the 1st post in the thread specifically says that this thread is not for discussions of diet clubs or 'special diets'. There are other threads devoted to these methods of losing weight. Check out the health and beauty board / the wannabe board.
daska there is also a thread devoted to low carb dieting https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1567335
You may find this helpful for your needs. :)

Yes, I've looked at it but they're hugely into artificial sweeteners and other things that I dislike or can't eat. Sorry, I'll bow out, if anyone fancies joining me on an old style low carb maybe we can have a thread to ourselves?!

Weightloss really isn't working for me at the moment...

How I hear you on that one :D

As I'm finding it impossibly hard going at the moment I've decided I'm going to have a change of focus - for the next few weeks I'm concentrating on STS - if I lose that's great, but my intention is just not to gain any more weight. Hopefully after that the weather will be warmer and brighter and my mood will improve, so I can find even the tiniest bit of motivation to lose weight - do you think that sounds sensible?

I've not posted for a while & have not really been thinking about weight loss for at least a week - too busy comfort eating in response to some bad news (even though I know this comfort eating will make me feel even worse when I put on even more weight ). So CCP I think your idea is sensible & I think I'll join you in trying to STS.

Well done to all of those who have lost :T I've read some encouraging posts whcih help me see the sense in all of this, but for whatever reason I'm just not "getting it" on an emotional level I guess & I'm such an emotional eater....

Ragz - I'd like to stay on this thread but I'm not able to post weight losses very often. The talking scales turned out to be faulty when they finally arrived (either a very cross woman shouting hello continuously or a noise like a electronic duck quacking....) so they have been returned & I'm awaiting a refund. My kids think its hilarious to tell me Im 18st or whatever number they think of, so I won't be relying on them! My local chemist have got rid of their scales that gave a printout, so I'll investigate chemists in other towns if I'm out.

So I thought I'd just go by my clothes getting looser or tighter as a rough guide & post my weight if/when I find scales.

I feel a bit like Fuddle - I know I need to do this for my long term health (although I have a few years on you Fuddle) but I've also been thinking this for over 2 years, whilst steadily gaining weight...
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like that! I think a lot of us on this thread do reduce our carbs without going into the science of it. I just thought that the people on that thread might have more useful knowledge.

I agree with JBD and think there are loads of different options out there, I have never bought into the club mentality but congratulate people who find this works for them - ‘horses for courses’ what suits one person may not be appropriate for others. What with NHS and Governmental concerns about “obesity” there’s lots of information out there and I know some of it can be confusing and difficult to fit into today’s lifestyles.

Fuddle you do what you think suits you best, but I don’t think you were “treading water” – you lost 4lbs in as many weeks I see that as a positive step forward – remember this is a long-term lifestyle change not a quick fix. Good luck.

Today I’m having a very relaxing, lazy day, more decorating to start tomorrow, so meal wise I’m having
B – Bacon Roll - just a small amount of mayo, yum yum ;)
    L – Cold meat salad.
D – Tamarind Chickpeas, yoghurt & cucumber raita, pitta bread.

Morning all (can't say 'good' morning cos of that horrid white stuff outside, just pleased it doesn't happen too often - though the way the media reports it you'd think it was a once in a lifetime phenomenon!)

    B - F&F sk milk
D - turkey ham casserole. lemon/lime sf jelly
T - egg on slice toasted Danish
    Snacks - grapefruit, apple, satsumas
Exercise - clearing snow and salting front path

Is it just me or does UHT skimmed milk taste sweeter than fresh milk? Opened a carton nearing its bb date this morning for my cereal and it def tastes as if I'd put sugar on :(

    Stay safe & warm :)
  • Hi everyone

Disappointed that its another STS for me this week. I want to get back to running 3 times a week because I know that will really shift the pounds but its just been too icy to do much (and now we have 6 inches of snow on the ground!).

I dont think I have done too badly with my diet this week, although I did have a packet of crisps and a couple of glasses of wine last night.

As someone else said at least I am not putting weight on so I suppose a STS is not the end of the world. Patience is what I need I think!

    Afternoon All,

Lots of snow here today so I'm enjoying being inside. I've been doing some cooking (and scraping of bowls) and some knitting too.

    B: Poached egg on toast
L: HM celery soup, 2 ryvitas with peanut butter
D: Pork chop, peas, creamed spinach. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
Snacks: Scraping bowls of cake mixture and butter icing as I've been baking ready for DS and DDiL coming later. I'm not tempted once the cakes are baked but love the raw mixture.

    Exercise: None
