I am about to head out to school presentation evening - hundreds of people crammed into a small hall with no air conditioning or even windows that open...NIGHTMARE!
So today so far...
B - strawberries and a kiwi
L - a chicken and rice ready meal thing, the last ready meal in the freezer from when I had my broken foot. I did peas to go with it. Tea, and one of the mini mini bars of dark chocolate
T - I just had a big bowl of leeks and Brussels sprouts dressed with lemon juice and black pepper. Trying to up my veg intake and didn't want anything too heavy before sitting in the stuffy hall all evening
As a treat to myself for getting through the evening I have got a bagel out of the freezer...YUM! I will have it when I get back with either a scraping of jam or honey. Amazing how simple things can get you so excited when you are dieting!0 -
Well people have to report a really bad day, not looking good this week either:eek:
B - 1 slice toast with marmalade
s - banana
d - cold gammon, HM oven chips, mushy peas, small slice of quiche, pineapple right way up cake and custard:eek:
s - Snickers bar:o
t - small piece of quiche and baked beans
Quiche is a long story, hubs bought 12 home from work plus two packs of bacon for 2 quid. Some given away the rest in the freezer and 1 demolished by us today. Snickers - I have no excuse
Pineapple right way up cake again no excuse except that hubs fancied a pudding with custard!:(

Hi All
I hope everyone is well....
Hi Sugarpuss, I'm not going to say anything about good intentions and lack of willpower !!! Not after my 4 lb gain this week....
How are you doing, Daisyegg ??? The weeks are fairly flying in so are you back to being fit yet ??? I know what it is like to go to these school presentations... I was a lecturer in a college linked to a secondary school and we had to go as well as the teachers... We never got mentioned yet... but we had to sit there and listen to it all even though we knew none of the pupils as we taught over 25s.... You'll be suffering in this heat !!!!
Yes, RS, I've watched a few minutes of these programmes too, and it is incredible what people shove into their mouths... But, hey, we are catching up with them.... Our plates are getting bigger and bigger and sometimes when you go out, you are served enough to feed a family of four !!!! Especially around me, there are several places where you can get double the amount for £1 extra... which is insane when you think about it:):)
Hi CCP, I've been there and bought the tee-shirt....
Hi Theatregirl...... I see we've got a serious thinker among us..... I got to about the 2nd of the 5 'd's and gave up.... The only double 'd's I know about are bra sizes.... I tried to follow a couple of other posts but I gave up.... It's too hot and I can't be bothered.... I would rather read about milky bars and caramel biscuits and the meaning of resistance.... and will power...
You are doing a grand job..... What day is the weigh in...? Can I weigh-in on Saturday, to give myself a chance to lose the 4 lbs.. ???:A
and hello to everyone else
Well, since Monday, I've been back to my normal routine... Except life is difficult.... I had decided to make Strawberry jam.... not for me... but for beloved... so I got 8 lbs of strawberries and started to hull them... and asked him to pop to the supermarket and get me about 9 lemons... You would think I was asking for the world  The things I do for him at a drop of a hat.... Well, it was about 8 oclock and he had to get the car out... There's a co-op about 2 miles away.... Well, I waited and waited and waited and waited... I had hulled all the strawberries, put them on the heat, dissolved all the sugar and waited..... I didn't know if he would manage back before the clocks change again... Well, he returned about 90 minutes later... He had forgotten and had to go back for them..... Men .....
I ended up making the jam the next morning.....
I went looking for my medicine to fill up my pill boxes and I couldn't find it..... so I asked him if he was sure that he had picked it up.... Yes, was the reply, he remembered ... so I turned the whole house upside down in the heat looking for the medicine... (I don't have a car anymore that's why he has to collect it now and again)... I gave up.... so this morning, I phoned the chemist and my medicine was still there.....so I haven't had a chance to munch through anything since Monday, which isn't a bad thing....
Food wise.... I had roasted a pork loin and it was very tender but tasteless... even though I had seasoned and cooked it well... I can't put too many flavourings else I can't eat it... but I decided to change it to pulled pork...It was falling apart anyway... so if anyone is interested, here goes... Slice the pork and then pull the slices into shreds.... I put the shreds back into the pot and added a little of the cooking liquor... I then added a liberal splash of wine vinegar and a couple of teaspns of sugar.. plenty of salt and pepper and some of the hot stuff if you like it (paprika or chilli etc) I added a level tsp of garam masala and then a healthy dollop of tomato ketchup and gently stirred it around.. I let the meat get warm... to incorporate and melt everything... (you could just mix everything in a bowl and then add it to the pork...) It improves the taste and then take some chunky bread or rolls or whatever, open it up, a couple of slices of tomato and then pop on the pork and enjoy..... Something nice for a hot summer's day....
Catch you all again...:beer:0 -

It's something prosaver posted earlier - what to do if you get a craving for something.officeguru wrote: »Hi Theatregirl...... I see we've got a serious thinker among us..... I got to about the 2nd of the 5 'd's and gave up....
I think it comes down to "if you want something, leave it for a while and see if you still want it; if you do, have a small piece and enjoy it".
I'm pleased to say that the aubergine gratin I made this evening was delicious and, being mostly veg with a few herby breadcrumbs sprinkled over, pretty healthy, too.Back after a very long break!0 -

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

Hi CCP, The reason I stopped reading after that one... is because...if I crave something, and leave it for a while and still want it... I end up going down the stairs at 4.00 o'clock in the morning and eating the lot !!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Whereas, if I had eaten it when I first craved for it, I would only have eaten a little amount...
But, hey ho, life is never easy...
Have a lovely evening...0 -
thanks for clearing that up CCPETA: why do the quotes sometimes not go blue?
Ellie - you havent quoted correct with the HTML.
It needs to have QUOTE with [ and ] around it at the start, and then the end of the QUOTE on the end has to have [/ and ]
And also....all my snicker bars are gone.... and very nice they were too!
Managed to do 150 reps on the stride machine today....every time I go into the conservatory where it sits unloved in a corner...I am going to get on it and do 20-30 reps a time according to the counter....0 -

Well I am home and I will eat my words (at least they have no calories!) - it was a wonderful evening. I need to add half a glass of champagne to my food diary (it would have been a whole glass but a fly decided to go swimming in it!). The evening was lovely - a totally acceptable length (over in under an hour and a half!) - amazing musical performances from our students, a very short and sweet speech from the guest of honour and generally an incredibly positive evening. Soppy alert now - but it's on days like this that I can't imagine working anywhere other than a school, and I almost feel sorry for people who don't get to experience it. Teenagers and young people get so much bad press these days but I feel lucky each and every day to work with them and they enrich my life so much - I couldn't do any other job. ..... Soppiness over!!!
Now I am going to have my bagel and a big mug of teahubby gets back from Russia tomorrow, I am only working 2 hours tomorrow late morning, so it's all good in daisie's hood
officeguru, thanks for asking how I'm doingloads better thanks - very nearly back to normal with the foot. Even tentatively wearing low wedges! It is pretty painful at the moment but the consultant did say it would be more painful as I get used to using it again than it was in the last few weeks of recovering from the break. By the evening it is hugely swollen. I am still not allowed to exercise or walk very far or anything for another month or so, but I don't think I could anyway as it is too painful.
Your story about the man and the lemons and the supermarket made me laugh (though not, I hasten to add, at your misfortune!). I hate going to the supermarket with my husband - he has to stop and look at eeevverryyyyy liiiiiiiittttlleeeee thiiiiiiiiiing and spends absolutely ages. Last time we were in Waitrose he spent FIFTEEN MINUTES choosing cheese. Just sliced cheese to go on burgers. The only time I get short tempered with him is food shopping, which is probably why we rarely do it!
Good luck everyone for the last push tomorrow before Friday weigh in! I am desperate for a loss this week, even just 1lb, but my sneaky weigh ins are not looking positive so fareven though I have been really good!
