Wow, that doesn't sound very balanced? Do you eat that sort of menu every day or is it just a random one off?

It's still very hot up here in the North - a bit too hot for me (sorry :o) and I feel drained of all energy.
Better news at hospital this morning.
B- small bowl of berries and cherries cereal
L- small slice of beef and gravy and lots of veggies (no potatoes!)
    Banana mid-afternoon
D- pasta with salmon, peas, cheese sauce and salad
Eating an apple right now :D

I thought I would try to cut down on my carbs, as I read last night that if you eat too many carbs your body makes insulin to use the sugars that the carbs turn into. But the insulin blocks another hormone - glycogen (?) - which stops your fat cells from growing or even shrinking:eek: I'm not totally sure about the chemistry but the top and bottom of it (excuse the pun) is I need to eat less and this seems as good an excuse as I can find at the moment :D Does anyone else know anything about this?

Prosaver - could you cut back on the booze? It has gazillions of calories! If you're serious about losing weight then you're in the right place, and we don't always get it right either!

    hi MrsCD-
Ive read that many diet/health books my head spins :rotfl:
I personally think all carbs get lumped together and this is unfair as there is a massive difference between white bread and wholemeal bread or a cake and some brown pasta etc etc

I think in general we probably eat too many carbs as a nation i know myself that i just looooooooovvvvveeeee bread :o but when im in the health grove i do try and cut right back on carbs and eat wholemeal/brown carbs where i can but i never completely cut out carbs as i think the fibre/bulk in wholemeal bread etc is good for you and your erm alone time in the toilet ;)

Not such a bad day for me today - finally! A few hundred more of these and I might see a difference!

    B - strawberries and a kiwi
L - salad and leftover kebab bits from BBQ (a few chunks of pepper, mushroom and a couple of chunks of chicken). Salad was just lettuce, tomato and spring onion - no dressing or anything
D - spaghetti bolognaise (weighed my portion of pasta, and the bolognaise had looooooads of veg and very little fat, so not too bad)
    E - some gardening

    No snacks!

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a good day. Been really hot here today. Went for a lovely walk this morning down the lane with Hubs to get eggs. Took the long way round through the fields so about an hour. Did a good pace although flagged a bit on the home straight. A bit of an up and down day. Meals not to bad but mini crisis this afternoon sent me rushing for the jar of marshmallow Fluff......had a couple of teaspoons. Bad girl!!
b - three finger rolls leftover dunked in my coffee (apologies to those who don't dunk!)
    s - strawberries and melon
d - Roast gammon, new tats, new carrots and curly kale
t - egg and gammon salad
    s - 3 crispbreads,marmite and a banana
    FLUFF
Also used smaller plates so trying hard!

  • Hi Everyone -

Hope you are all enjoying the sunny weather - I wish I was but I really feel hot because I won't show my arms as I am embarassed about them!

Anyway weighed myself yesterday so I have a starting point and can post my (hopeful) loss next Monday!!

Some of your menus sound lovely!!

Today I had three aldi crispbreads with clover for breakfast

a strawberry smoothie and chicken wrap for lunch and then it all went a bit wrong because I was too hot to cook and so had a bacon and egg roll for tea with a cup of tea and a Tesco choc bar.

Since tea I have had a small ham sandwich and two more cups of tea and two glasses of water I will have to do a bit better tomorrow!!

I was watching Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall last night and he made this strawberry "thickie" strawberries, yoghurt, ice and oats all blitzed and I thought i might try that for my breakfast tomorrow.

Healthy........NOT  and definitely NOT OLD STYLE :(
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Argh!

Well, after managing ONE DAY with no snacks, I am clearly an expert :rotfl:

Actually, I don't tend to snack that much anyway - my weakness is just big portions of meals, and desserts. I'm sure I'm just stating the obvious but you snack when you're bored, so try to keep busy. I know you said you have tried water but really drink pints and pints of it - keeps your tummy filled up and has the added benefit of being good for you in this hot weather and good for your skin and so on! Again, obvious, but don't buy snacky things! (My iPad just autocorrected 'snacky' to 'a cake' - that applies, too! :rotfl:) I have also heard people say if you have a snack craving you should say 'ok, I will go and do something else for 20 minutes then I can have it' and more often than not the craving will die down.
