Morning all
Will be back Sat or Sun but thought I'd wi now just in case I forget - 1lb loss this morning
TG I used to graze all day, now I just have fresh fruit if I fancy something. It's tough in the sm with everything shouting BUY ME at you in bright bold, coloured letters but that's the catch they use to get your attention. I tell myself I'm not going to be caught by an advertising agency which is being paid £k's to make me buy something that's bad for me. Most of the time it works. Agree with daisiegg who must be an expertbecause all the sensible people say drink water. I don't buy bottled (yet another gimmick, and too much plastic waste) I keep a 4 pint milk container filled with tap water in the fridge. If you need something to flavour it a squeeze of lemon juice or lemon from a bottle is refreshing.
Meals for today til Sat will be provided by DS and partner so no idea except we're having a bbq on Thursday.
Have a sunny few days, take care0 -

Sigh - add two slices of bread and butter to last night's dinner as I was hungry, then two bottles of alcoholic ginger beer at the pub quiz.
Today goes:
B - reduced-calorie cluster cereal with rhubarb yoghurt (a full fat one as that's all I've got left)
L - salad box from the local sandwich shop with some sort of topping - possibly their honey and mustard chicken which is wonderfully spicy and not mayonnaise-based so relatively healthy; two rye crispbreads; two nectarines
D - aubergine gratin (aubergine in tomato sauce with breadcrumbs sprinkled over the top and grilled); mixed salad
My weight's still higher than it was last week, and I still don't know why: it's not looking good for Friday's weigh-in.Back after a very long break!0 -

Good advice about drinking water and eating fruit instead, I wouldn't go down the route of diet coke or diet red bull, you'd just be replacing one "bad" thing with another...didn't you recently cut out a lot of your coke drinking?
I think a big part of cutting out snacks is just willpower, it's changing a habit. For example, I was brought up in a house which had a tea or coffee mid morning and mid afternoon, and it was always accompanied by at least 2 biscuits...I continued doing that when I left home, and when I first tried to stop it was hard...I didn't replace biscuits with something else, I used willpower to stop eating them and now I don't have biscuits with my tea or coffee (although my mother still wafts the tin under my nose!)
I don't buy my favourite biscuits so I'm not so tempted (no Jaffa cakes in this house!) and you know what happens when I buy chocolate, so I try not to...you can't eat it if you haven't bought it, so how about saving the money in a jar every time you DON'T buy something?
Telling yourself you'll just wait until you've done something else is a great idea, if you're not hungry you'll probably forget about it if you're busy.
Yesterday
B: granola
L: 2 slices toast and marmaladesmall portion sweet and sour chicken and rice, third of a naan bread, 90 cal choc mousse
E: too hot!
I'm another one who's weigh in is not looking good
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

I remembered another tip to avoid snacking - chew sugar free gum or brush your teeth. Having a minty mouth puts you off eating.
Also, make sure your meals are good enough to keep you going - lean protein, slow release carbs and loads of veg to fill you up.
This all sounds very impressive but I am not, however, claiming to practise what I preach!:rotfl:

prosaver......forgive me for being harsh, and I dont mean to offend in any way, but in KW's absence I feel I have to say something....I am not sure you understand the thread.
This is about weight loss in a sensible way, healthy eating, exercise, etc. It's not about starving yourself, punishing your body, or binge eating....0 -

Got you noted now Sparrer! Have a great holibobs!I know you said you have tried water but really drink pints and pints of it - keeps your tummy filled up and has the added benefit of being good for you in this hot weather and good for your skin and so on! Again, obvious, but don't buy snacky things!all the sensible people say drink water. I don't buy bottled (yet another gimmick, and too much plastic waste) I keep a 4 pint milk container filled with tap water in the fridge.Good advice about drinking water and eating fruit instead, I wouldn't go down the route of diet coke or diet red bull, you'd just be replacing one "bad" thing with another...didn't you recently cut out a lot of your coke drinking?

Thank you all for the useful tips. I sat down this morning and went through all my books and magazines on the subject and have made lists of meals I can make that will be decently filling for me.
Decided to go back to mealplans and calorie counting as that seemed to work for me before. I agree though it's more about breaking habits and having willpower....it just seems very hard these days to have willpower around snacks! :rotfl:
and yes ellie, trying to get down to 1 large glass of diet cola a day.....I used to drink 4 litres a week....now I'm down to 1.5litres a week which is a bloody good start! :j
mealplan for today
b - beans on 2 small slices toast.
l - tuna salad, crisps (last bag in the cupboard to get rid of them!)
d - hm quorn chicken with rice & sweetcorn, small piece of l/o stuffing, 2 small slices of bread & spread
t - 5 x crackerbread with spread
s - 2 x hard boiled sweets, several milk choc truffles that someone was handing out at work.....0 -

My method is cruel at first..then later bring in healthy methods when you lose the weight.
I know a really a lot about healthy dieting and the human body.
trans fat in powder milk that will clog your arteries.
good fats bad fats ..fiber that makes you fat... protein switches off the hunger feelings.
