I used to be like that with washing - now my husband does it - for now anyway. He could never get how it so depressed me until he took it over.

Hi Molly, I tried that, but when I told him to sort it out between the light and the darks... He thought I meant light - 'as in not heavy' ... I tried again last weekend (this is 20 years later) and asked him to put the bedding in the wash.. I have a beautiful black quilt cover... so he put that in along with 4 white pillowcases... I've given up on that score :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

ETA - when it is my turn to have someone tend lovingly to my every need? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Ellie, I don't think that will happen, .... It might be that you missed it in the past... and I think you might miss it in the future...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You should remember that 'when they put their own cup into the sink (rather than leaving it on the table or worktop), they are doing you a favour...:) Therefore, seeing to your every need..

I reckon that this is why most women live longer than men as we need to look after them right to the end... as you know, that apart from a few exceptions, the clutter and the junk would just pile up until they couldn't see the door..!!!

When my beloved cleans up after himself, he is doing me a favour as he is doing that for me !!!!

Morning all. My bugbear is reps and lorry drivers on the M25/M4, took 3 1/2 hours to get to Reading yesterday, 2 3/4 hours to get home.

Hi Sparrer, I couldn't cope with that... I start to twitch if the journey takes longer than 15 minutes... That's one of the reasons why I stay married as beloved knows that I would be lucky if I could drive outside the 30 mile limit of the village... I start to panic when I see traffic lights (especially on roundabouts !!!) and I wouldn't know what to do with a 'slip road'... :(

I hope your mother gets better soon ...

We could drive almost to London in the total time you were driving yesterday !!!

Take care, everyone... and I have this weekend to look forward to as it is a holiday weekend for most of us up here....

Hi OG...do you think they do it on purpose? I mean, it's just obvious to not mix black and white, how can't they see that?
    :rotfl:

I'm working on getting them to put dishes in the dishwasher right now...there's a lot of humphing and mumping and sighing in my kitchen in the evenings, because it's very hard to spend 30 seconds putting your plates in a dishwasher :rotfl:

    Meals yesterday

    B: cornflakes, ss milk, sultanas
    L: cheese and pickle toastie
S: mars mini ice cream (shouldn't buy those again, they're too nice)
    D: tomato and bacon pasta

(Just to be clear, in case you think I'm being mean...when I was married I did all the household chores and gardening...willingly, because hubby worked long hours...but I don't think I should do everything for adult children. I think it's important they can look after themselves, and quite frankly, I'm tired (especially of cooking!) :)

Morning all, thanks for the well wishes for DM. No word of her returning home yet but she's being looked after extremely well, thanks NHS. Got a puncture last night so have an enforced home day today, I'll spend it catching up on all the things I should have done while I was enjoying my tour of England's motorways...

OG you mean you don't find sludge grey pillow cases becoming? :D
Good luck with the dishwasher training ellie. We had bickering about whose turn it was to wash up, then we got a dishwasher and once the novelty had worn off, we had bickering about whose turn it was to load/unload it. You just can't win ;)

    B - spicy fruity porridge
L - hm chicken soup, slice hm bread
D - minute steak, broad beans, mash, gravy
    S - fruit
    E - housework

    Have a sunny day :)

I absolutely agree with you and am also trying to get my children to do very simple things like loading the dishwasher. It is ridiculous that they behave like they do so think you are doing the right thing.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Ellie, Ellie, Ellie, No, they don't do it on purpose... It's just that they don't see the need to do it at all !!!!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Why should they do it, when they know that you will do it .... especially since it doesn't bother them to see dirty dishes/laundry/ etc etc lying about... It only bothers you... so if it bothers you, you can shift it !!! Your sons don't have to learn because there is going to be a lovely girlfriend to do it for them in the future... We females can't help ourselves... we've got to tidy up and nurture and look after them and tend to their every needs !!!

I remember when I came out of hospital after being ill for many months and I could hardly drag myself out of the chair let alone up the stairs... I happen to mention to beloved that I didn't think I would be able to carry the hoover up the stairs... so guess what ???? He bought me another one so I had one upstairs and one downstairs... Ain't that something !!! :rotfl::rotfl:

(I know that there are exceptions to this rule, my son is one... as the female he lives with doesn't do anything except paint her nails..) so I reckon she must be good at something !!!

Hi Molly, I tried for years with the dishwasher... but, in the end, they started putting the dirty dishes in with the clean plates (rather than empty it) so I threw the dishwasher out and then had a rule that if someone cooks, they don't wash up... !!! and that worked better than anything else....

I also started them very young, to put their laundry into a special laundry bag that was just for them... as they got older, the laundry had to be put in the laundry bin or else I didn't wash it... and that worked as well ...

Once they were 16 years old, I told them the house didn't have the word 'Hotel' above the door and that if they didn't like the house rules, go and live somewhere else !!!! (I was too soft to really throw them out and they knew it !!!) :)

I meant to say, Ellie, if you tell me what your family likes to eat, I'll tell you the easiest and foolproof way of cooking it !!! but I don't cook tofu or substitute foods....

I'm off to the garden now, take care everyone... We'll soon be on the run down to Christmas....

    Take care everyone...

That's how I got my first dishwasher...when I was too ill to do housework, hubby says "I think we need a dishwasher"...OK! :)

Thanks, if I think of something I don't know how to cook, I'll ask you...one's a meat and 2 veg, the other's a meat and force him to have some veg cos it's good for him!

    Today

T: ?????? Who knows going round new bfriends house so im waiting so be pleasantly suprised :)

I hope you're pleasantly surprised, and not just surprised...I know a lady who was invited to her new boyfriends house for a meal...and when she got there he said he'd eaten earlier, and didn't give her anything at all to eat...she was starving! Needless to say, she decided not to see him again :rotfl:
