Hello, am on the quest (of many) to lose weight and still keep to a budget with there being me, a 3yr and 4.5yr and husband and two cats.
So how do i go about starting?
I have fitness pal on my phone which i really like to use, but as mentioned by others did find myself making other meals for the boys adding to expense!
I would like to lose 2st i have not got a strict timescale i would like to try 2lbs a week?
Do you guys just post what you have had recipes you like?
Hi Ajt85, Welcome
We all have different ideas about how to reach our desired goal. Some are on calorie restricted diets and so on. The point of this is to give encouragement to each other throughout the trials and tribulations of the challenge. As you will have read, we are no angels and there are weak moments and sometimes they last a while. Some of us also post what they plan to eat that day (or the day before) whereas I post what I fancy making if I think it is of help to others. There are also several of us who are not on a 'diet' but just cutting out the junk and the extra munchies. :A
I personally have cut out all the junk and stop eating when I have had enough rather than finishing off the plate. I also don't eat until I am hungry so I don't eat loads of little meals throughout the day.. Some people can't do that but it suits me fine. I have managed to lose quite a lot of weight doing this and I know that I want this to be the way I eat from now on. I also have the advantage on only myself and my beloved lives here so I don't have any biscuits, etc in the house. (Except the stash on top of the wardrobe!)
I hope this helps and there are plenty of fellow challengers here to give you all the help you need.0 -

welcome newbies
enjoy the thread!
had a compliment from DM this afternoon, I put my tracksuit bottoms on and she thought I'd lost weight on my legs - apparantly I looked very "trim"! :j
just got time to sit down and write my mealplan out lol - almost had a extra sandwich this afternoon but resisted and I'm glad I did.
b - special k cereal with ss milk
l - mini pepperoni pizza, ww garlic bread, handful oven chips, 2 onion rings
d - ww lasagna ready meal, small salad, slice of bread with spread
snacks - 5 mini sweets from a box left over from xmas, but think that was it today!
happy 1st May all!!0 -
Big welcome to the newbies
So that's where I'm going wrong theatregirl - I'm teetotal! :rotfl:
The new rose, appropriately called Little White Pet, arrived yesterday and is planted already
B - F&F, ss milk, brown roll with rf spread and sniff of marmalade
D - Chicken salad, dressing of ff yogurt mixed with rf mayo
T - 2 crackerbread with ff yogurt, 1x rf philly, 1x vegemite & grated rf cheese
S - grapes, satsuma, melon
E - more gardening, got a little conifer and some trailing surfinias to plant, and the strawberry bed to clear. Housework doesn't get a look-in when the weather is nice, hence doing so much of that mundane chore in Winter
Have a sunny day0 -
Welcome to all the newbies
I need help! I have eaten loads lately. So yesterday when I got in I ate a whole (yes you read that right, a WHOLE) packet of Jaffa cakes! Then had dinner, which was pesto potatoes, quorn coated fillet with peas and sweetcorn.
Today I had chocolate porridge for breakfast, then we went out for lunch at work as a new trainee started. We went to a Turkish place and I had salad, dips and bread to start then falafel with rice and hummus for main with baklava for pudding.
So I am so fully that I am skipping dinner. I really need to stop eating so much!
Tomorrow I have crumpets for breakfast, then lunch is a few left over pesto potatoes, carrot, pineapple, grapes and fruit winder.
Hope everyone else is doing better than me!0 -
Evening all
I'm catching up on here in an attempt to stop myself eating something. I'm not hungry, so don't NEED anything, just want something nice. It's a benefit sometimes, not keeping anything really nice in the house (I don't have a lovely wardrobe like you, officeguru - there's just scarves and stockings on top of mine:rotfl:) Normally I'd go to bed to escape the munchies, but I'm waiting up for my son coming in, he's working backshift and I like to see him sometimes!
It's been such a quick week, I swear Friday weigh in comes round faster every week! I wasn't very good at the weekend, there were chips involved (although I'm trying to convince myself a Sunday roast lunch isn't as bad as it sounds - 5 different veg, and only 2 roast potatoes, no dessert - half way to healthy, surely?)
It's finally sinking in that if I overdo it at the weekend regularly it's going to take me twice as long to lose the weight, because I've only got the second half of the week to repair the damage.
I've been dieting for 4 months, and I've not even dropped down to the next stone yet...it's getting soooo close, I've got to get there soon!
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
This week i have been mainly improving my age with wine :P 2 more days till wi. Very nice salad for lunch and scrummy stew for supper, both packed full of veg.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

went to see the tour of "Ghost" where I work tonight - absolutely amazing, blew my mind! I would thoroughly recommend it if it comes anywhere near you....just wow!
Anyhoo, had a very busy day running around doing that and also did the T's shop this morning so fridge and cupboards are recrammed full of healthy eating things and stuff on mealplan
foodies today then were:
b - 2 turkey rashers, 3 small mushrooms, 1 large tomato, slice of bread
l - 6 x water crackers (14 cals each) with cheese and ham, s&v crisps
d - mexican resto while out with friend: had their house fries & a chicken and bacon "burger", which when it came to the table, was actually a wrap! O.o
snacks - plum, small bag chocolate buttons
tomorrows mealplan [since I'm uber busy in the morning before work]
b - 2 x small slices toast with spread, special k bar, choc yoghurt
l - bagel with dairylea spread & salad, crisps, 4 x chocolate biscuits
d - h/m lasagna with salad.0 -
This week is bound to be a gain, or a STS at best, Monday included all you can eat Chinese (and I did), I also made a cheesy bacony veg thing (think macaroni cheese, but with vegetables instead of pasta) for three days and this morning was fried eggs, toast and beans. Bad JB! I am going to try harder for the rest of the week, if only so as not to let you all down!0

Very quiet here today. Been out and about with a friend and had a good window shopping day. Was very good and only bought my little boy cat a new bed, and a replacement cheese grater for me as the rubber base had perished on the old one. However...
B - F&F ss milk
D - Jacket with chilli & cheese, and a good side salad. Lemon meringue pie
T - Flapjack, cuppa
S - satsuma, melon, 1/2 nana in a WW wrap
E 0 5 hours walking round Cambridge
Absolutely cream cracked. Night night0
